Gematria originated as an Assyro-Babylonian-Greek system of alphanumeric code or cipher later adopted into Jewish culture that assigns numerical value to a word, name, or phrase in the belief that words or phrases with identical numerical values bear some relation to each other or bear some relation to the number itself as it may apply to Nature, a person's age, the calendar year, or the like. A single word can yield multiple values depending on the system used (from wiki). We have had a few threads all about this recently, focusing on how many times a specific word or phrase is used in the Scriptures, or which chapter and verse number something can be found, and then assigning meaning to the relevance of the numbers, with special emphasis on the number 37 and others...
Similar to being raised in a country whose public school system only teaches the children a certain set of days to celebrate. Like the U.S for example would have its independence day thanksgiving and so forth.
And the national language is also something the public schools teach.
In order to come to a Hebrew understanding, the Language is very structured.
Many english speaking countries do not understand what gematria is because the english language has no such likeness to the ancient languages of a multitude of other languages from cultures around the globe.
