Heb 12
For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.

10 [/SUP]For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. [SUP]11 [/SUP]For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. [SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, [SUP]13 [/SUP]and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. [SUP]14 [/SUP]Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. [SUP]15 [/SUP]See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; [SUP]16 [/SUP]that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. [SUP]17 [/SUP]For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.
The fornicator was evidently restored to fellowship in his local church in 2 Corinthians after excommunication and being delivered to satan with the purpose of maintaining the man's salvation.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent—not to put it too severely. [SUP]6 [/SUP]The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. [SUP]8 [/SUP]I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, [SUP]11 [/SUP]in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
