I would like to know if OSAS is biblical why did the early church which was driven by the Apostles Peter and Paul did not from them to almost 500 years did not teach it. It taught the opposite. Calvin started the OSAS philosophy at that time. Also if OSAS is biblical why are there scriptures from Jesus and the Apostles that speak of having to persevere to the end, stand firm to the end, staying alert, and so forth so that nobody can cause you to loose that salvation. Not to mention the other scriptures that speak about those who have fallen away.

You can not fall away from something you are not apart of in the first place, so saying they were not truly saved to begin with does not work for some one who has fallen. Do to that would mean they were never part of the true church of Christ.

Kerry, Do you doubt that Abel was saved? Hebrews lists him in its hall of fame as having acted in faith. Speculation on Adam and eternal security is futile, for lack of evidence. I don't know any passage that says Adam was ever saved. Before he fell he was not saved, for he had never been lost. He was created good. Then Adam sinned. If you think that the killing of animals with blood shedding & clothing Adam in those skins is a picture of Christ's death & the believer then being clothed with Christ in His righteousness, then you postulate that Adam was saved. But there is nothing after that about Adam being lost.

So leave this hangup and focus on what the Word of God offers you by way of salvation.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & you shall be saved. You will not perish, but have everlasting life.

Eternal security implies that all believers endure to the end. No, Paul had not yet experienced the final transformation of the resurrection to a glorified body, but that is irrelevant to eternal security.

No, eternal security does not tell persons it is OK to sin. But why are you concerned about it? Are you not a great sinner, sinning every day of your life, and in great sin at the moment for failing to trust the Savior Who offers you eternal life?

It is not a matter of persons "coming up with" some doctrine. Read all the verses I have plastered on this board on the subject. Have you not seen them?

Eternal life . . . not perish.

Can't you finally get it that if you try to make it by works or by anything besides a desperate dependence on the crucified, you condemn yourself. The result is your very objection, sin; you remain stuck in your trespasses and sin for lack of trusting the only one who can save you. Let go of all your objections:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.
I agree with what you just said. My hope and faith is in the cross and because of that I trust that my eternity is secured by Him. That is not the focal point of my debate and perhaps we are looking at the same thing from different view points as that happens sometimes.

My debate is that a person can be saved and through temptation and prolonged sin and refusal to repent. That person can lose their salvation. I know that He will never leave me nor forsake me, But I can leave Him. If I so choose.

My other question is. What do you say to a person that loves God and goes to church every Sunday. Yet they are bound by alcohol and when they get drunk every night they reek havoc in their family and they are torn by it and hate it. But , they cannot stop. Would you say they were never saved?

I preach in prison's and rehab centers and have seen this day in and day out. Some are truly perplexed and have no idea what to do. They love God and hate what they are doing. What is the answer?

The but of 6:9 does not start a new topic, but contrasts his opinion of them with his statement about apostates. He thus spake about apostates, but is convinced of better things about them, things that go with salvation (as opposed to the preceding which do not imply salvation). The But is a reference to the preceding apostates and making a contrast with them.
Exactly. Paul is talking about apostates, specifically those who have accepted (again, what part of 4 - 8 does not say saved)and then gone apostate; then he talks to those who have not gone apostate. TWO DIFFERENT GROUPS AND SITUATIONS. Kinda like if I said "there are many smart people who act like idiots, BUT I find none of them here in this thread". 2 different situations, two different groups.

BUT whatever. We're beating the dead horse at this point. I just hope you don't try to walk away some day, under the mistaken belief that you can't.

Your whole concept of Gentiles doing works of the law is baseless because you know it starts with circumcision
The only reference I made to Gentiles doing works or the law was in a quote from the Bible; it was part of a context, not an argument I was making. If you don't believe the statement, you must argue with the Lord, since He made it, not I.

Baptism is not equivalent to circumcision. The baby was showing no faith in anything when circumcised. He would have opted out, if he could. Allowing yourself to be baptized is a show of faith, generally not the first show of it.

The point you are missing is the obedience what did circumcision do what does baptism do of course the baby was showing no faith but later in life he would know his parents obeyed a command from God and he would do likewise

It does demonstrate your belief; but not necessarily, someone could just be joining a church with it, even to sell others insurance policies.
But it is a command of God let him be the judge as to who is selling insurance or not

Obedience is evidence, yes. Of course the Lord looks ultimately on our hearts, not our outward activities in judging us.
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Here we go round the mulberry bush. Persistence in gross sin does evidence that you are heading for the Lake of Fire and never trusted Christ as Savior.
Hebrews 6:4-64For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
[SUP]6 [/SUP]If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

But what will you do about yourself, since you are disobedient? How many sins do you commit each and every day? You better hope you can be saved by grace through faith; otherwise, go buy asbestos underwear now.
I may be disobedient to you but I obey his word
[h=3]Ephesians 5 [/h]King James Version (KJV)

5 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
[SUP]9 [/SUP](For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

So you prove nothing, but I do commend you for generally quoting the Bible, instead of just pontificating as some do.
I do not have to prove anything God's word does the proving

We must read and trust God's promises.
This I agree with but without blinders so use the whole scripture in context.
For the sheep:

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
I pray you see the truth brother

Yep, I have no righteousness ever, not ever of my own. I have righteousness though, and it is not mine, it is Father's period.
I accepted his wedding invitation, as and while i was in the garbage, shown the feast that is a coming. And guess what. I am not returning to the garbage can are you? We are no longer of this world in it yes as what?
Ambassadors representing the love, Joy, peace, quietness and righteousness given us by his love to us thank you Jesus for this, my propitiation for all sin along with the whole world
So instead of working for this salvation, I am responding entered hid courts with thanksgiving and praise. It takes believing God, no doubt in what God has done for you, or one does not enter, Doubt having to do something keeps one from what is by God in God's Mercy to all a done operation from God in love and Mercy
Time to believe, receive and see.
And not get trying to do it by works of ones flesh efforts. The first chosen did not and will not enter, because of unbelief.
Do you really think God is pleased by our flesh works? Really us being the creation, what sense does that make, for if God is pleased by our works, and if God responds to this, would that not make you, me or anyone God of God?
God it he creator
We are the creation
So what can the clay say to the potter?
We are born creators in the flesh and this can not nor will, ever please God the Father of Christ, per scripture just read Romans Chapter 8 and see the war of Flesh dead Spirit and god's Spirit of life in the resurrected Christ not the dead one
Praying you might see truth over error of the flesh that we all are first born in, and need this new life here and now in Spirit and truth John 4:23-24, pretty clear on this fight of ones self flesh and blood and the Spirit of truth unto Father by Chirst's finished work for us to appreciate and not use for to get away with sin.
Well don't expect much when you pray if you believe you are not righteous
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

The problem most people have with "works" and "grace" is because they try to reason with their own mind. There is a "working together with him" in which we allow his work to continue in us because we OBEY HIS WORD. We are saved by HIS WORKS IN US,not by us trying to be righteous, but by a work of righteousness in us,done by the Holy Spirit and in FULL COOPERATION WITH THE HOLDY SPIRIT. Many go to and fro, like those in t he wilderness, looking at everything but Jesus. Trusting in their doctrine (likeOSAS) and becoming BLIND and DEAF in the meantime. EVERY FALSE DOCTRINE GIVES OUR HEART A PLACE OF FALSE COMFORT IN OUR SING. --- OSAS, the Rapture, The Millenium on the earth, Calvinism, Arminianism, etc. They ALL cause our hearts to stray from the TRUTH and be DESTROYED.

Those you speak about are no different than you and I. Sometimes we judge sin as worse because it breaks society's rules, but then we partake of false doctrines that make us "drunk"with ANOTHER SPIRIT. To those, tell them the VICTORY IS WON, they are SET FREE AT THE CROSS and let them "STRIVE TO ENTER IN TO THE NARROW GATE".

GOD"S GLORY IS COMING ...and EVERY CHRISTIAN THAT HOLDS ON TO ANY FALSE DOCTRINE WILL BE CUT OFF AND DESTROYED.

ASK GOD TO HELP YOU!!

Well don't expect much when you pray if you believe you are not righteous

NewB, Do you claim to be righteous? Or do you confess, "All of my righteousnesses are as filthy rags"?

Who of these 2 men was more likely to get a response to prayer, the Publican or the Pharisee?

And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get. 13 But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.

And it came to pass, that he was sitting at meat in his house, and many publicans and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Great verse, NewB

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Yes, the unbelieving, those who refuse to trust the Lord Jesus with their eternal destiny, are pretty foul. Their conscience is defiled; they are likely to deny the Savior and convert Him to a "give-one-a-chance" guy.

Then you are in trouble, James. For you hold false doctrine. But BTW, probably every Christian is off on something here or there, so then all will be cut off & destroyed by your theory. Do you realized that your post was just you saying things? No Bible proof. The Rapture is a Bible fact, see 1 Th 4:17 harpagesometha = rapiemur = we shall be caught up.

Eternal Security means that one really believes that Jesus is the Savior, not just a "chance-giver."

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & you shall be saved. Not just given a chance at it.

I don't think you are going to like what I'm about to say. These people tell me, I don't understand. I prayed the sinners prayer and i felt the yoke lift off of me and I was baptized in water. Yet, I am here in rehab talking to you ( or some else like me ) or I am here i prison talking to you.

Off the subject for a moment, Most of them say "will you go tell my family so they don't end up in here".

Anyway, the answer is the cross. It's not reading more ( good thing). It's not even praying more ( good thing). The fact is that most of these people were mislead. Thinking that well I have been baptized, therefore I cannot sin, so I can drink as much as I want to. Not knowing that Satan is binding them. In essence their faith was in Christ and then their faith moved to something else. Perhaps even a doctrine that said they were eternally secure.

It is an easy and simple thing to do and they reason why we must be reminded daily that everything comes from the cross and not your forty days of purpose, not your 21 day Daniel fast, But through the cross.

if misguided by doctrine or fad, if it takes your faith off of the cross. Then you end up talking to me or someone like me in prison or a rehab center. That's why I fight this doctrine so hard. People are living in bondage and refuse to admit it to there fellow brethren. Because if they do, they are told that they were never saved and had no relationship with Christ. Which is a lie.

I pray you see the truth brother
I pray you trust the Lord Jesus as your only & sufficient Savior.

Again you seem to confuse judgment with salvation.
As to "joining a church," I don't see that in the Bible. I do see persons getting saved and attending the assembly.

Now why are you continuing to quote Heb 6 and not going through 6:9 where the explanation is given? The apostates lacked the better things that go with salvation.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

So Dear NewB, what will you do about your uncleanness and your covetousness (= lust)? What will you do about your sinning every day?

Wherefore thou art without excuse, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest dost practise the same things. 2 And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things. 3 And reckonest thou this, O man, who judgest them that practise such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

For the sheep:

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

Eternal Security means that one really believes that Jesus is the Savior, not just a "chance-giver."

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & you shall be saved. Not just given a chance at it.

I give them eternal life, & they shall never perish.
First I will quote the verse IN CONTEXT:
27“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand

FIRST my sheep hear my voice. How many times have you heard Christians say they cannot discern the voice of the Lord.
SECOND THEY FOLLOW ME. What if you are not FULLY OBEYING the Lord -- YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING HIM.
and
THUS -- YOU CANNOT CLAIM V.28/

As for the Rapture -- The Bible is a SPIRITUAL BOOK. You cannot read it like a text book and understand it. Paul calls us the TEMPLE of God. We are HIS HOUSES to be build up by JESUS THE CARPENTER. Time and time again Jesus tried to explain to His Disciples SPIRITUAL THINGS using NATURAL EVENTS. Consider Mark 4. Farmers spreading seed on the ground. To everyone else, it looked like it as planting time, but to Jesus' DISCIPLES -- WHO ASKED HIM, He said TO YOU -- NOT OT EVERYONE ELSE -- IT HAS BEEN GIVEN ---- THE MYSTERIES OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD. ANd Jesus explained the Spiritual significance of what the "see"d meanint. YOU WIL LNEVER UNDERSTAND WHAT GOD IS SAYING UNLESS HE OPENS YOUR MIND TO UNDERSTAND IT. IF you have a doctrine that prevents that (like many of the Pharisees did) YOU WILL REMAIN BLIND. Remember The Pharisees knew their Bible too and when ythe time came for the Messiah, THEY WERE BLLIND and CRUCIFIED THE VERY MESSIAH THEY WERE EXPECTING. IT can happen to any of us.

As far as the false doctrines go, THIS IS THE TIME WHEN GOD HAS BROUGHT FORTH HIS PURE WORD TO HIS PEOPLE. THe time for debate and speculation IS OVER. It is time to seek the Lord before HIS GLORY IS POURED OUT.

Anyone who says you dont have a relationship with JEsus is an accuser of the brethren... cant say things like that

on the other hand if you would have been obedient to God and his word you would have never ended up in rehab....

God wants his forgiven and saved children to be obedient.

it is not slavery
it is a requirement

read your Bible and see from Gen to rev

The reason I fight the false gospel of belief that JEsus died for you and keep on sinning, is because they end up in rehab...

Jesus does not want you in rehab he wants you to be a law abiding christian and to keep his sabbath

if you keep the sabbath you will never sin as long as you sta united with JEsus

Anyway, the answer is the cross. . . .
we must be reminded daily that everything comes from the cross
Great comment, assuming you mean the cross of Christ.

People are living in bondage and refuse to admit it to there fellow brethren. Because if they do, they are told that they were never saved and had no relationship with Christ. Which is a lie.
But if the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. If you aren't free indeed, what does that tell you?

It is not a lie to say that apostates were never saved.

1 John 2: " They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us."

As Heb 6:9 says, Heb 6 apostates lack the better things which are part of salvation.

Time to let go and admit that your case is hopeless unless the Lord Jesus radically saves you, gives you a new nature with eternal life, so that you shall never perish.

This truth has never made me want to sin. But if you can't rest in it, you are going to be doing big time sinning.

Chapter and verse please.

How are you going to sin no more if your very nature is sinful? That's all that is on your menu of activities.

Brilliant. So if you had not sinned, why you would not have sinned.

Since you are disobedient, what will you do about that one? Are you going to grit your teeth and try harder, or will you trust the Savior?

YOu see much. Yes, the doctrine can actually cause them to remain in bondage. It becomes an idol in their heart and God will not deliver them. When I was brought to the Truth, I kinda believed in Calvinism. Like many hear, I saw the discrepancies about enduring until the end, but I also saw stuff like God's sovereignty. For many MONTHS after hearing and believing the Truth, I was still in bondage to some sins I was struggling with. I called my pastor and he told me because I still was trying to hold onto OSAS in my heart. I asked for prayer and God began to deliver me from the doctrine.

You are right. These doctrines do more than just believing the wrong stuff. They allow spiritual strongholds which cause a person to put their faith not in Jesus and the Cross, but in some doctrine or belief that in their hear t is THEIR SALVATION.

It is true that Prayer and reading the Bible will not deliver them automatically. They must have the TRUTH and FIGHT IN PRAYER to grab hold of that truth. We MAKE A CHOICE to BELIEVE the WOrd of God, and as we do and STAY BEFORE HIM CONTINUALLY, TRUE FAITH IS BUILT IN USE THAT ALLOWS THE POWERS OF HELL TO BE DESTROYED IN OUR LIFE.

Most Christians want an easy way. True salvation is a WAR. Consider the SPIRITUAL meaning of Joshua going in and destroying the giant s in the land. Look up the Hebrew meaning. They represent different sins that at SEVEN TIMES STRONGER THAN US (meaning there is no way we can be delivered in our own strength). But God told us to GO IN AND TAKE THE LAND. We must learn the Narrow Way if we are to be delivered. The Cross is DENYING OURSELVES (what we believe and think -- I can't do it. THe way is too hard. We can't really be delivered from ALL SIN, can we?) and TAKING UP THE CROSS (Believing we have been delivered and that SIN HAS NO DOMINION OVER US). It takes TIME and ALOT OF PRAYER and WARFARE to be delivered fully. And those that hold onto OSAS are in danger of being cut off.

EDIT: I want to add, God heard their prayer if they were sincere and saved them. But they remain in bondage because of false doctrines and they are never taught the Truth about the Walk of Salvation.
