Bread Crumbs “A Life of Praise” January 21

Why would I ever choose to go through an entire day and not praise the Lord? What has affected me so negatively, been so distracting, so upsetting, or caused me so much apprehension that I would fail to give the Lord the praise that is due His name? I can promise you that He has never failed to watch over all that pertains to me. I can guarantee you that He does not let a day go by without actively caring for me. I should never fail to continually thank Him for being my constant protector, my generous guide, my strong tower, and my forever fortress! Does He not grant me the ability to take in each moment of every day? Has He not been faithful? Has He not been merciful? Has He not shown me His loving kindness? So why would I ever fail to lift up my eyes toward heaven and speak of the gratefulness that is in my heart for all the care that He bestows upon me. Forgive me Lord, for continual petition with too little praise! Truly the Lord is worthy to be acknowledged, worshiped, and adored by those of us who truly know Him! May all those who love Him ever exhibit a life of praise!

Hebrews 13:15 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:8
Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Continued instruction and wisdom for King Lemuel from his mother now points to defending the dumb which refers to those who are speechless and cannot defend themselves. Men will take advantage of men, especially men who have disabilities. The King, as it relates to us today, is that as Christians we need to always be after the righteousness of God. That which is according to God’s Word in Truth, which will always point to Jesus Christ and His finished work at Calvary.

All men are appointed to destruction and are headed there fast until they hear the good news of Jesus Christ and believe it with the heart unto Righteousness (Romans 10:10). Our judgment should always be that of Righteous judgment (John 7:24), which refers to God’s Word because ALL of His Words are “In Righteousness” (Proverbs 8:8). We should realize by now that we ARE our brother's keeper and should be minister’s of the Word of Reconciliation which God gave to us (2 Corinthians 5:19).

Your Word for Today

“And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His Commandments, and keep all His Statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which
I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD Who heals you (Ex. 15:26).

In this episode of the bitter waters of Marah, we find that the Lord gives a great Promise to Moses, and, in fact, to every Believer. It is a Promise of Divine Healing, which addresses itself not only to physical needs, but also to emotional needs, typified by the “bitter waters” of Ex. 15:25.

But yet the Promise has a qualification, a qualification which is impossible for us as human beings to meet.

We are to “give ear to His Commandments, and keep all His Statutes.” That being the case, He has promised to keep us free from “diseases,” etc.

But, as stated, what human being can say that he has always kept all of God’s Commandments and Statutes?

The answer: None!

However, the door is not closed. There is One, only One, Who has always kept all of God’s Commandments and Statutes. And that is all that is needed! The “One” is the Lord Jesus Christ. He did it all as the Second Man and the Last Adam (I Cor., Chpt. 15); He did it all on our behalf.

Our Faith and trust exclusively in Him and what He has done for us at the Cross guarantees us His Perfection and all the benefits which go with that Perfection.

Need I say more?! (Rom. 8:1-2, 11).”

Bread Crumbs “The Right Way” January 22

The only right way to deal with any situation is to address it God’s way! There has been far too many times that I have allowed myself to be led by my own human spirit or intellect. We all like to think that we know the proper way through life's many and varied circumstances. There is nothing wrong with showing wisdom, using intelligence, or even applying methods that have proven successful in the past. But we must nev...er fail to seek God and ask His advice and guidance regarding the proper path through our current situation. Far too often we sprint towards a solution without seeking the route that God would have us take. There are two guides that God has given to every believer that should be consulted before we make a final decision or take on a new direction. The first guide is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. He desires to lead us to the proper solution. The second guide is the written word of God. The Holy Spirit will never direct us contrary to God’s Word and the Bible stands forever as God's manual for abundant life. We should always consult these two priceless commodities that God has given to assure ourselves that the way we have chosen is the right way.

Proverbs 14:12 - There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:9
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Here we see the more specific direction of what was stated in the previous verse of pleading the cause of the poor and needy. It must be the judgment of righteousness in which the cause of the poor and needy take place. Just trying to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves without the judgment of Righteousness puts us in the same boat. It is God’s Righteous judgment that brings the power and provision of God into the situation.

God’s Righteous judgment can only come through the Truth (Proverbs 12:17), and this Truth which shows forth Righteousness is Jesus Christ AND Him crucified (John 8:32, 14:6), and will be found as the wisdom needed for every situation. Only as we continue to fight to keep our faith in the cross of Christ we will learn to walk in the wisdom of God, and be found making the Righteous judgment needed for all (John 7:24).

Your Word for Today

“And when the Children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is Manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the Bread which the LORD has given you to eat (Ex. 16:15).

The Manna prefigured the descent of the True Bread, of which if a man eat he shall live forever (Jn. 6:51). It was a test of appetite and of obedience. In Egypt, Israel had slave food; in the desert, Angel’s food. The test quickly revealed that the natural man has no appetite for Heavenly things. The people soon called it “light food.”

The Manna was so precious that it could not bear contact with the earth. It fell upon the dew and had to be gathered ere the sun was up, and freshly every morning. Yesterday’s Manna did not do for today, nor today’s for tomorrow (Num., Chpt. 9). Thus, must the Christian feed upon Christ every day, as He reveals Himself in the Scriptures (Lk. 9:23-24).

Israel in the desert presents a striking picture! Egypt behind them, Canaan before them, the wilderness around them, and the Manna above them. They were a Heaven-born people and a Heaven-bound people; they ate Heaven-baked Bread.

In looking back toward Egypt, they murmured; when looking forward toward the Wilderness, they saw the Glory of the Lord (Williams).

Jesus as the Bread of Life, and He Alone is, can only be had by virtue of the Cross. As we have repeatedly stated, Christ is the Source, while the Cross is the means (Eph., Chpt. 1).”

Bread Crumbs “The Beauty of Restoration” January 23

The restoration of a fellow Christian is not an option, simply because we ourselves have been the beneficiaries of God’s loving-kindness. We are to be a people who walk humbly before God, do justly, and love mercy. We are to be those who climb into the pit to help our brother. We are to lift him up and out of the mire of sin that has enveloped him. We are to travel to where he lies, broken and wounded, and help free him from the bondage of hopelessness, of shame, of frustration, and doubt. We are to offer to the fallen the hand of consolation instead of bringing the crush of condemnation. We are chosen, we are commanded, we are critically positioned to bring the defeated to the knowledge of the Cross. We are to wait patiently for their eyes and heart to be focused upon the truths of what Jesus did for us; exhorting them to depart from faith in any other hope outside of the Cross. Then the manifestation of sin that controlled them can be destroyed, their hope in God restored, and their souls are guaranteed to be strengthened by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. “Ye that are spiritual … “Restore!”

Galatians 6:1 - Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:10
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

The instructions from King Lemuel’s mother continue as she gives her son the wisdom of God. The first step in looking for a virtuous woman is to first have received proper instructions of which women to avoid. Wow! The flesh of sinful man will always go after that which is bad for him, but thanks be to God for Jesus Christ, that the born again men can have the wisdom of God and the Spirit of God to lead them.

The price of a virtuous woman, which refers to a woman of valor, one which is of any resources including strength, is FAR ABOVE rubies. To have a virtuous wife from the Lord is to have a good thing (Proverbs 18:22), and that good thing is FAR ABOVE any material earthly riches. The marriage of a Christian man and his wife are to express Christ and His relationship with His church in their relationship to all that know them (Ephesians 5). This will take place as both refuse to trust in anything other than Christ and what He did for them at the cross so that we can both be His bride (Romans 7:4).

Your Word for Today

“And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD has said, Tomorrow is the rest of the Holy Sabbath unto the
LORD . . . (Ex. 16:23).

The Sabbath, the day of rest, here suddenly reappears after a silence of more than 2,000 years. Redemption being accomplished, the Sabbath is gifted to Israel. But man has no heart for God’s rest. His nature is bad; he can neither rest with, nor work for, God. If God makes a rest for him, he will not keep it; and if God tells him to work, he will not do it.

In this Chapter, Israel refused the Sabbath as a gift; in Numbers 15, they disobeyed it as a Law.

The Sabbath was to be a day of “rest,” symbolizing the “rest” which one finds in Christ, and only in Christ. Hence He says, “Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you Rest” (Mat. 11:28).

Since the “Sabbath” is only a symbol of the “rest” that one finds in Christ, once the reality had come, the symbolism is no longer needed. Hence, the strict observance of this ritual was not carried over into the New Covenant. And yet, when one accepts Christ, following Him by placing one’s Faith entirely in Christ and the Cross, this is the same as “keeping the Sabbath,” because the Sabbath prefigured Christ and His Rest (Heb., Chpt. 4).”

Bread Crumbs “Run To Him” January 24

There is a refuge that the believer can escape to whenever the heart is troubled or overwhelmed by the disasters of the day. When the relationship you thought would last forever ends painfully and abruptly, there is a place of peace that you can run to. There is a secret place for the believer to retreat to when life delves out disaster and disappointment. When the day has just been too unyielding and people around you impossible to deal with, there is a shelter that you may fall back upon. This secure shelter is one’s relationship with Jesus Christ. Our faith in Him can bring us to that special site where all of the enemy’s intended harm is rendered useless and all agonizing hurt is reduced to having no affect. These are all the benefits of being in His presence. In His presence one can find comfort, cleansing, renewing, and peace. When things go wrong for this believer, I promise you, I run to Him! I never leave His presence disappointed, discouraged, or downhearted. In His presence I find the strength to move forward and the grace that takes me far beyond my own ability. When life is devastating, I run to him!

Psalm 23:5 - Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:11
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

The heart of a husband who can trust in his wife as the virtuous woman the Lord has made and called her to be for him, will have no need of spoil, which refers to gain outside of what she can provide as a good wife. Oh the joy of a man who has this virtuous woman. This woman is FAR ABOVE all earthly treasures, because she causes the heart of her husband to safely trust in her as the wife God has given him.

As we look at the relationship Christ desires to have with His church, we see there the example for all marriages. Men are told to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it (Ephesians 5:25), and the wives are told to submit to their own husbands as unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:22-24). The virtuous woman is to be the woman the man searches for, and when he finds her, his heart will rejoice as to the gift of the Lord. We as the children of God are to be the virtuous bride of Christ to bring forth the fruit of our relationship with Him (Romans 7:4). Faith in the cross of Jesus Christ will allow the Holy Spirit to legally carry out the wonderful will of our Heavenly Father in our lives.

so it all comes down to this, the day will come when you will have to make a choice, Jesus Christ and the naked unadulterated truth, or mankind's way of living and thinking, prosperity, aspiration, career, movies, more possessions, your status and facade you present to the world, meeting the worldly desires, but still declaring you follow Jesus, you cant have both. And sadly many christians are trying to have both. Make your mind up who you follow here.

Your Word for Today

“Behold, I will stand before you there upon the Rock in Horeb; and you shall smite the Rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the Elders of Israel (Ex. 17:6).

It seems strange that God, Who professed to love them, should lead Israel into a desert, both foodless and waterless. But love led them there that they might learn the desperate unbelief of their own hearts and the unfailing faithfulness of God’s Heart. Only in a desert could God reveal what He can be to those who trust Him; for only there was Israel dependent upon Him for everything. Without God — nothing; with God — everything.

The water from the Smitten Rock foretold the Living Water, the Holy Spirit, to be sent forth by the Smitten Saviour. The Holy Spirit was shed forth as the fruit of Christ’s Sacrifice (I Cor. 10:4). The Rock was smitten by the very same rod of judgment that smote the land of Egypt.

The “Rock” was a Type of Christ being smitten by God (Isa. 53:4), which was done at the Cross, and which brought forth Eternal Life, at least for all who will believe (Jn. 3:16).

The fact of the Cross guaranteed the payment of all sin, past, present, and future, the giving of Eternal Life, and the advent of the Holy Spirit in a new dimension, at least for all who will believe (Jn. 7:37-39).”

Bread Crumbs “The Sacrifice” January 25

Jesus Christ came to earth as the Son of God to break the power of sin over the human race. He took on the form of a human being and experienced everything that any other living person would experience throughout the course of His life. The one thing that He never experienced, that all of us have, is the experience of disobeying God. He was always faithful to perform every act and maintain every attitude that was pleasing to the Father. He serves as the perfect example of a person in complete and utter obedience to the will of God. His obedience culminated in the act of sacrificing Himself on Calvary for our sins. His perfect life paid the price demanded by God for my imperfect one. He exchanged His life for mine, with no guarantee that I would ever accept His precious offering on my behalf. Without His payment, His sacrificial gift, I would have no clear path to know God. I would have no way to walk with God, much less be accepted by Him. But thanks to Christ Jesus and His unspeakable gift, my sins have been forgiven, the power of sin over me has been broken, and one day, even the presence of sin will be totally eliminated.

Hebrews 9:26b - “ …but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:12
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

The virtuous woman the man should be looking for is described here in this portion of Scripture, and should be his criteria for a wife, and it should also be the criteria for the woman to be for her husband. I think we should realize that far beyond the natural picture here, we should be seeing that overall, this is a picture of what Christ came to give His Life for. A bride that is virtuous, serving only Him, and that can carry out His plan in the earth today.

As we are being changed and transformed by the Holy Spirit through faith in the cross of Christ, for there is no other way, we will find ourselves more in love with our Husband (Romans 7:4), and bringing forth the fruit of our virtuous relationship! Praise the Lord for His wondrous cross in that He offered Himself for us so that He could be ours forever and forever!

Your Word for Today

“Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim (Ex. 17:8).

The reception of the Holy Spirit, symbolized by the Smitten Rock pouring out life-giving water, immediately causes war. “Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel.” Up to this point, God had fought for them. Israel was to stand still and see His Salvation; but the Command now is to go out and fight.

There is an immense difference between Justification and Sanctification. The one is Christ fighting for us; the other, the Holy Spirit fighting in us. The entrance of the new nature is the beginning of warfare with the old.

Amalek pictures the old carnal nature. He was the grandson of Esau, who, before and after birth, tried to murder Jacob, and who preferred the mess of pottage to the birthright. This carnal nature wars against the Spirit. “It is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can be”; and God has decreed war against it forever.

The only way that “Amalek,” i.e., the flesh, can be defeated is by the Believer ever placing his Faith in the “Smitten Rock,” i.e., “the Crucified Christ” (Gal. 6:14). Otherwise there is no victory! (Gal. 2:20-21).”
