Let Us Pass Over To The Other Side!

So many believers have found strength and encouragement from the story of Jesus calming the storm. We find here that he spoke to his disciples concerning passing to the other side. Once these words were spoken nothing else mattered. Despite whatever storm they faced, they were going to make it to the other side. The winds blew, the waves of water filled the ship, and fear began to overwhelm the hearts of the disciples. We must ever remember that Jesus was in the ship with them. Hence, the ship was not going to sink. Jesus didn’t say let’s go midway into the sea, sink, and die. Jesus said, "Let us go over to the other side." So, no matter the size of the storm, or the severity of it, the Lord will be with us. We will make it to the other side.

In this Christian journey, despite all of the difficulty, pain, heartache, and even at times fear, we must find solace in knowing we are never alone. The Lord is with us! If we will hold to this truth while faced with these storms, we will always have peace in our hearts understanding that the Lord is with us. So, keep believing child of God. Don’t doubt! Don’t allow fear to fill your heart! Remember, Jesus is in the ship of life with us. We will make it to the other side of the storms!

Luke 8:22
"Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth."

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 1:16
To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

The call of Saul, who would later become Paul the Apostle, was so that God could reveal His Son, Jesus Christ in him. The purpose went much further than to only save Paul from his sins, but to also share that same message of Jesus Christ as it had been promised down through the ages even to the heathen. The heathen is all the world outside of the nation of Israel. The most important thing to see here is that God calls by His Grace to save through faith so that He can reveal His Son in us. Only as Christ is being revealed in us, can we walk in our different avenues of ministry by the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is not everything else that I might find interest in, but in Christ being revealed in me, that I am going to find God’s purpose and will for my life, and all the benefits that come with knowing Him. Paul did not confer with flesh and blood, which is referring to receiving knowledge from others concerning what the Lord would reveal to him. We are all told to seek the Lord, study the Word and much more, which will require us to humble, and to position ourselves according to what our Lord has called us to do (Obedience to His Word). Walking with the Lord and growing does not just take place at random for the Christian, just as the born again experience did not just happen by chance. We heard the gospel and made a conscious choice to accept Christ by faith for the forgiveness of our sins, and daily (Luke 9:23) we will be required to follow Him with that same faith in His cross. So many Christians have conferred with men, and have been talked out of God’s will for their lives. Speak with Him today as you look to Christ and His finished work at the cross and you will find yourself in awe of Him again!

Your Word for Today

“when Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to them who followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel (Mat. 8:10).

The Centurion comes to Christ, asking our Lord to heal his servant, who was “sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.” The answer of Christ was immediate, “I will come and heal him.” The Centurion surprised the Lord by saying, “I am not worthy that You should come under my roof: but speak the Word only, and my servant shall be healed.”

The intelligence of this man was remarkable. He argued that the soldiers had to obey him because in his person resided the authority of the emperor; similarly, disease obeyed Jesus because in Him was the authority of God. And he was right!

When Jesus heard this statement, “He marveled.” This records one of only two times He marveled: at the “faith” of this Gentile, and at the “unbelief” of the Jews (Mk. 6:6).

The Lord followed His reaction by saying, “Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” This is a portrayal of the fact that the Gentiles would accept Christ while Israel would not. Jesus then did exactly what the Centurion requested. He said to him, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so be it done unto you.”

The Scripture is emphatic when it says, “And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.”

This great miracle by Christ portrays the fact that “faith” is the chief ingredient demanded by the Lord on our part.

But let the following ever be understood:

Then the faith had to be registered solely in Christ, and for the obvious reasons. Now that the Cross is a fact, we must ever realize that while Christ is the Source, the Cross is the means. Then our faith will ever be honored.”

Bread Crumbs “Hearing His Voice” June 13

At regeneration, that is, in the true “Born-again” experience, the Holy Spirit of God moves inside the heart of every believer. A part of the spiritual reconstruction that is done by the third member of the triune Godhead at that time is to recreate both the soul (the part of man that feels) and the spirit (the part of man that knows). The Spirit of God is then able to regularly communicate and lead the believer by “bearing witness” or “speaking” directly to the newly constructed spirit of the believer. Just think, all night long while you were sleeping, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost were in conversation about you and your needs. The Bible proclaims that His thoughts about you are as many as the sands of the seashore. Then, when you arise, the Holy Spirit begins to tell you what they have planned for your day and for your tomorrows. The Holy Spirit has revelation that you need for your personal growth. The same Spirit desires to lead you to the proper action and activity that will open you up for the future blessings of God. You are equipped to hear, so listen up! His sheep know His voice and they follow after Him.

John 16:13 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 1:17
Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

The Apostle is here making a point for all to see, which is that he did not go to the Apostles in Jerusalem for answers although they had walked with Christ for three and a half years. The Holy Spirit led the Apostle Paul into the Arabia, then again to Damascus because what He had to give Paul was not known by the Disciples, nor another man on the planet in that day. Paul would be the one man that Christ would by His Spirit, give the revelation of the cross, and most of the knowledge which the Church needs to have to be able to function as the expression of Christ. What actually took place at the cross according to the Scriptures, and how it is applied to us TODAY was surely given to Paul.

This revelation began to unfold once again in the 1500’s to Martin Luther, the Truth that we are justified before God by faith EXCLUSIVELY in what Christ did for us at Calvary. Then some 500 years later the revelation God also gave Paul would begin to enter into the Church through a man named Jimmy Swaggart, that message revealing to us that we are not only justified by faith in what Christ did for us at the Cross, but that we are also sanctified daily EXCLUSIVELY through faith in Christ and His work at the Cross. These things are still rejected today by those who will not subject themselves to God’s Righteousness even though they have been written in the Word of God for centuries. I live free today from the dominion of sin (Romans 6:14) because of this great Reformational Truth. This doesn’t speak of perfection, for there is no such thing on this side of glory, but the Truth has made me free from the guilt, shame, condemnation and dominion of sin. He will do it for you as well my friend if you come back to Calvary!

Bread Crumbs “The Light of the Cross” June 14

In my ministry I speak a lot about “the Cross.” Whenever I say that I am not simply referring to the suffering of Christ, the passion of Christ, or even the willingness of Christ to die on the Cross. All of that certainly is a part of the terminology surrounding the Cross of Christ. But my references to the Cross deal far more with what Christ accomplished on Calvary. Calvary is where God’s promise to redeem man was carried out! Everything about Christianity is connected to and is a result of the event of Christ’s death. Today believers are to be the beneficiaries of what Christ did on Calvary. Specifically, the Cross is where Jesus died to pay the penalty for every sin that has ever been committed, is presently being committed, or shall be committed. It was at the Cross where Jesus broke the power of sin over us, including the dominion of the sin nature and every aspect of temptation to sin. It was the event of Calvary that opened up the door and enabled humanity to receive inheritance, blessings, and grace from God based upon simple faith in Christ and His finished work. Are you living in the light of the Cross?

2 Corinthians 4:10 - Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 1:18
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

After three years in Arabia and returning unto Damascus, Paul finally goes to see Peter and was with him for fifteen days. The meetings must have really been very special to both men as further stories reveal their relationship. They both had so much to share, as Peter had walked with the Master for three and a half years and watched all that He had done and heard all that He had taught, while on the other hand Paul had now been experiencing the Scriptures in the Light in which they had actually been written. The Light of who Christ is and what He came to do at Calvary!

We all need each other in the Body of Christ, and we all have much to offer, but most importantly, we all have the Spirit of the Living God dwelling in us through which everything that’s of the Lord takes place. God the Son walked among men in the flesh for a season and now He dwells in believers by His Spirit. He works in our hearts through faith in His Redemptive work at Calvary, and daily longs to load us with His benefits. When we begin to look back at the wondrous cross, we will begin to see who our Lord and Savior really is and what He can do for us each day, as He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Bread Crumbs “The Salt of the Earth” June 15

It is vital for every believer to understand that every one of us is to be a guide to God for those we come in contact with. Our actions, our choices, our words, all represent the God we have chosen to serve. Therefore, it is imperative that as servants of Christ, we let our light shine in this darkened lost world. We do this with both our lips as well as our life. As believers, we should verbally point others to the life that can be found in Christ. As well, we must aggressively endeavor to live holy and righteously by faith through grace. We are to exhibit a lifestyle witness to those who come to know us. The believer should also help lead other Christians into the righteous ways of God. We must always keep in mind that the danger of getting off track ourselves is very real. The wrong way can often appear more desirous at first glance than the right way. Know for a certainty that there is death in the wrong way and the promise of life can only be found in God’s ways. Let us pray that we may receive the grace we need to lead those around us into the glorious light of a Godly life!

Matthew 5:13-14 - Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. (14) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 1:19
But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

Paul reminds us that he only saw Peter and one other, that being James, the Brother of Jesus. This was probably because of criticism he was receiving from the Judaizers about what actually went on while he was in Jerusalem. When one is preaching the same message that Paul preached and taught with determination not to be moved by family, money, or anything other, there will be great rebellion and rejection toward that ministry. Most cave in to that pressure. Yes, even at times by others who are preaching that message part of the time, but who have yet to surrender to the place where they refuse to see or to know anything other.

The preaching of the Cross is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18), and while most today have a form (Deceptive look) of godliness, they are denying the power (2 Timothy 3:5), therefore those who believe God’s Word and desire the manifest power must turn away from such. There is an army being raised up in these last days, but it is not the army of numbers, but the army of God that carries a blood stained banner and a bloody message. A humble and broken people with willing minds to serve the one true living God through faith in the Cross. The gospel remains to be the only avenue through which Righteousness is revealed and experienced (Romans 1:16-17), and without the experience of Righteousness there is no Holiness, and without Holiness, no one can see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14), but only form.

Bread Crumbs “A Rose in the Desert” June 16

Have you ever seen a rose blossoming in the desert? This sight is both unusual and beautiful. It is both striking and uncommon in a desolate, dry, and dead landscape. This is what the lives of believers ought to look like when contrasted with the world around them. We should be teeming with life, having the look of promise; the sight causing hope of something better and greater! Only the grace of God is able to produce this outstanding contrast between the reflection of life in the saint and the obvious death gripping the heart of the sinner. As we keep our faith securely in Christ and what He did for us at Calvary, He transforms weeds into roses. He faithfully removes that which distracts, destroys, or demotes, and consistently builds into believers that which revives, delivers, and brings favor. Even to the outside world the difference between the lives of Christians and non-Christians should be acutely obvious. The life of the believer should reflect the peace, the inner strength, and righteousness of our Savior. The life of the lost is likely to indicate a state of chaos, insecurity, a lack of true joy, and a shortage of contentment. Is your life blossoming as a rose in the desert? Christ can make it so!

Isaiah 35:1 - The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 1:20
Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

As the Apostle Paul continually ministered the gospel of Jesus Christ and gave the Church instructions for living Godly lives, he was accused of lying, he was accused of not actually being called of God, and many other things. When God’s Word is heard and followed according to the context in which it was written, there will be much resistance, and most of the resistance will come from those within the church walls today. Those who only have a form yet are denying the power of God, which is the preaching and faith exclusively in the cross (1 Corinthians 1:18).

The message of the cross is the message of God’s Word, for all His Words are In Righteousness (Proverbs 8:8), and His Righteousness is only revealed IN THE GOSPEL from faith to faith (Romans 1:16-17). His Righteousness is our Path (Psalm 23:3), and our Light (Psalm 37:6), of which He is both to us, yet only in EXPERIENCE IF our faith remains in HIS WORK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (Isaiah 32:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21) at the cross. This faith and singleness of mind will bring about many hardships just as the Apostle Paul experienced, and sometimes it will be by those closest to us, yet as we look unto Him, His Grace will be sufficient for each day! His Grace is what He is able to do through one’s faith in the cross (Romans 8:2), for He is the Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:29). Isn’t it great to finally be learning the Word of God IN TRUTH?
