To anyone who would like to witness to a JW; I just got solicited via PM a few minutes ago by a 19 yr. old JW named Brent43 who joined CC today. He finds it to be more advantageous to use PMing rather posting like the rest of us. I love them, but am not to keen on the way they like to approach through the back door.

I ALWAYS invite them in to discuss the heresies fundamental to their false religious system but can't understand why they ALWAYS end up running for the door. *scratches head*.

Usually they run for the door to get their leader who ends up running out the door with them in a scene replaying itself. It's a mystery. *hehe*.

The same happened to me once.

There were these three sweet old ladies with colorful dresses and hats that had stopped by a couple of times when I was out in the yard working. We talked in the yard about things in general. They were very nice--friendly and gentle. Then one day the three sweet little (well, they weren't little) came late one evening with a man. The man wanted too know if they could come in and talk me and my wife (whom the ladies had also met) for a few minutes. I said, "Sure. Come on in!"

My wife and I got them seated and we offered them drinks. We all got settled in and the man (one of the ladies had introduced him, along with his title) did most of the talking, telling us what the bible says, quoting scripture and such, and giving chapters and verses to support what he was saying (This is why it's important Christians to know God's Word.) We listened to him (them) for 20 or 30 minutes realizing they were misquoting some scripture. I began to see a pattern; they would quote some well known scripture accurately then misquote lesser known scripture. I knew then that they were being deceitful. So the next scripture they quoted inaccurately I said, "That's not what the Word of God says." I turned, saying, "I've got my Bible right here. Let's read it together and get it right."

Lord have mercy. You would have thought an electric shock ran through all of them as they immediately stood in unison, saying something about how they had taken up enough of our time.

I said, "Nooo, no. The important thing is that Truth be revealed. Please have a seat. I've got all night."

But the man, with his hand already on the door knob was making more excuse's about why they had to leave. I said, "Can we at least pray for you before you leave," but the man would have none of it and out the door he went with his cackling entourage right behind.

And they, too, never came back.

They were a lot of fun. I miss them.:(

God's Word truly is powerful.

I'm trying to be 'nice' but REALLY ....... they're as nutty as fruitcakes.
Anybody who believes all their nonsense has gotta be pretty darn gullible.

Sure they're a "cult" !
But I guess Christianity was deemed so in its early days.

christianity was called a cult in the early days, and today --- the true underground church meetings assemblies of ekklesia born again believers in many countries are illegal by the state / country governments and also outlawed by the "legal churches" who don't know christ jesus.

every now and then, or as often as God shows mercy on someone, someone is saved anyway, even in a cult.

note: bercot "will the real heretics please stand up" was a jw, got saved when he was 8 years old,
thought
the other jw's in his own family and group were also saved; but when a few years later he found out that
they weren't,
and they found out that HE REALLY WAS , they kicked him out.

just like 'many' other churches do to their own pew warmers if someone starts even asking questions from the bible.

The Watchtower Society teaches that Michael the archangel disappeared from heaven and was conceived miraculously by (the Virgin) Mary.
Jehovah's Witnesses deny the physical resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
If these don't scream outloud to you SATAN IS BEHIND IT and make you run for a mile then I pray for your soul.

They do believe some truly whacky things. I say "believe" but really its brainwashed. They are told that man doesn't have a spirit (soul) and that Christ' never died for the sinner. They are told many odd things and use fear of eternal punishment as a way of harvesting naive and weak minds. It's all about power, money. Many Jehova's witnesses fall away if they don't gain enough power. Some don't even believe it but go along with it anyway with the hope they will get the power that comes when you get to the top. Those at the top don't know what the believe but enjoy the privileges that it brings (money, power, wealth). But I tell you now, and mark my words, unless these people renounce, repent and give it all up and come to Christ in truth then they have already had their rewards. But ultimately it is satan that is behind it the same as EVERY other man mad religion in the world today. That is why there is much work to do people! The harvest is plenty but the reapers are few!!
Those above should suffice...google their doctrine and you can see for sure......
Yeah look for "Christian Vs Jehova's Witnesses" Here is a good one that compares them together and then lines them up with scripture to see which is correct and accurate. Mind you, for some, you don't even need to line them up with scripture to know its complete poppycock!

You are right. Every now and then. God shows mercy to someone and they are saved. Every day in fact more and more people are coming to know and accept Christ as their personal life and Saviour. In fact in the last days its is said that the whole world will be full of the knowledge of the Lord.

Definitely people do get "kicked out" of a club or fellowship for some reason. When we look at this from a loving Christian point of view it looks very contradictive to what we would otherwise be all about.

That is because mankind is very foolish still in many ways. But God really is a good and loving God and he knows where that persons walk is with Him. I believe that sometimes, God directs a mans steps that lead up to these sorts of things happening to him. Because through those fiery trials a mans faith will really be tested to stretching point. Not that God needs to test anyone as though He doesn't know what your end results will be. But they are done for our benefit too.

I know what you are talking about in that some fellowships are operated illegally in the eyes of the church or a church. That is not to say that they are operating illegally outside of the law of the land but in that their belief system is not of the churches and not subject to their laws and ways of doing things.

That's not to say that God doesn't find His people through those underground fellowships in the same way as He does with your normal community church either. Because He does. Is it Gods will that we are divided amongst ourselves? No. But will He use that to His and our own advantage to save all who call on The Lord? You can put your life on it He will. :)

Easter-- as normal people understand Easter --is irrelevant in Watch Tower
Society theology seeing as how they insist that Christ's crucified body is still
dead; and his remains are squirreled away somewhere on earth in a manner
and/or a place known only to God.

On page 237 of the April 15, 1963 issue of the Watch Tower magazine; it's
stated: "If Jesus were to take his body of flesh, blood, and bones to heaven
and enjoy them there, what would this mean? It would mean that there
would be no resurrection of the dead for anybody. Why not? Because Jesus
would be taking his sacrifice off God's altar."

Seeing as how human life is entirely organic in Watch Tower Society
theology, then the Jesus Christ of their version of the gospel no longer exists
because his crucified body has yet to recover.

That's not very Christian of one is it, if you think their nonsense is gullible then YOU have to believe the Holy Scriptures (Bible) was written by nutty fruitcakes, which puts a Bible believers position in jeopardy. After all, they are quoting from Scripture (God's word), of course one has to use descernment and work out which religious organization is the true religious organisation that God supports. And as we are all aware there are many "professed christians", many interpretations of the Bible but which one is true?.

Which interpretation indeed, Kedge ! If ANY.

Unfortunately, the JW's have even less chance of finding "THE TRUTH" because their 'bible' is a hunk of junk called the "New World Translation" which every genuine biblical scholar and theologian on the planet says is riddled with error.

Yet when i looked at their translation it looked no different than the other 37 translations i had viewed , the message is the same in all Bibles, maybe worded slightly different but still ,the message in their Bible is no different to the message in any other Bible, well at least the 30+ Bibles i had a brief cross-reference against. And i can research those Bible translations on the internet at my leasure and see they all say the same thing.

Okay, there is a lot of misinformation on this thread. For anyone that wants to know the difference between a Jehovah's Witness and other Christians I have one simple statement that will explain. Jehovah's Witnesses follow bible teachings, and not human traditions. If anyone has any questions concerning Jehovah's Witnesses please feel free to start with me.

Very well. There is one topic I will discuss with you and only one, because if you do not get this correct it matters not whatever else you may get correct. Tell me who Jesus is according to John 1.

Sorry to jump in, Hermit ..... just a quickie.

Kedge. Google ' New World Translation -contradictions and omissions". You will find HEAPS.
And not just minor stuff.

Try just this one for an example ...

King James Bible
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
NWT
“In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.”

The issue I want someone to defend here is the insertion of the indefinite article.

Me too, Hermit. No doubt Kedge will enlighten us.

Then we can go on to the hundreds of other errors, additions and omissions in the NWT.

I was asked some questions about them (JWs). I know they have some beliefs that are not mainstream, but I can't remember what was controversial about them. Could someone summarize the key issues that set them apart?
They think Michael Jackson is the best moon walker that ever lived?.......Just a little offbeat humor........

"Michael and I were very active in the Jehovah's Witness faith. ... Five days a week the two of us and Mother studied the Bible at home and attended the Kingdom Hall. ... Every morning Michael and I witnessed, knocking on doors around Los Angeles, spreading the word of Jehovah. ... As my brother's fame grew, he had to don convincing disguises, like a rubber fat suit he bought years later, .." La Toya: Growing Up in the Jackson Family pp.53-4.

Actually found a comparison chart that gives a glimpse of some of the differences in belief of JW's compared to Protestant Christianity.

"The following chart provides a quick-reference guide to the major similarities and differences between the beliefs and practices of Jehovah's Witnesses and mainstream Protestant Christianity. As is always the case with charts and summaries, the information is simplified for brevity and should be used alongside more complete explanations. The beliefs listed for both Witnesses and Protestant Christians represent those of most, but not all, churches or individuals within that tradition." Source:

Is that all you have to say?

Mary WAS A SINNER.

She needed a savior, just like you and me.

She is NOT the "mother of God". God has no mother, because God is God. Yes Jesus is God, and Mary was his mother, but we have to understand the dual nature of Jesus. He was 100% God yes, and also 100% man. Mary was his mother as a man, not as God.
Perhaps there is a need to get the house in order first before judging anothers.

If Jesus is God like some claim then mary the mother of Jesus gave birth to God.

The Bible tells the reader that Jesus died, if Jesus Christ is God then God died too

If Jesus Christ is God as some do claim and He died then who ressurected Jesus who is God?

Why did Jesus say that there is one greater than himself if He is God?

All this really is about is who's translation of the Holy Scriptures is correct,

The search for the truth continues for me.
