Jews are called "Semites" because they are descended from Shem, the son of Noah. Shemite = Semite. :)
Wouldnt the descendents of Shem, encompass more people than the just the jews though?
It doesnt make sense. Other people arent called Japhethites or Hamites

Yea why shem, or sem. They could have gone further down the line and been anti-arphaxadites.

What did Shem do...that would make people anti-semitic.

Here you are truly splitting hairs and confronting words. All words have an etymology, a history, and most may be traced to their beginning. I cannot say if Shem is the root of semite, but certainly if it is, it is not unusual for it to be the beginning of the root for semite…. What does all of this have to do with the Cross and Salvation? The only connection I am able to delve is that we are to love all people, even if considered enemies. It is a lot easier when we pave this in practice, right?

John 3: 16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Where in the world did God give his son? He gave him amongst the Jews. If God wanted that the world not perish, why did He not give his son among the gentiles who did not know of God at all? Why not give Jesus among the Greeks? Does the Bible have an explanation?
It was always Gods intention to offer the Atonement of Jesus to all nations.. But God revealed His Message through the Jewish people.. He started with Abraham to deliver His will right though to the revelation of Jesus Christ..

Romans 1: KJV
15 "So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. {16} For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

The Jews had a hard job to do to be the Chosen people to be set as an example to the rest of the world.. They had the blessings of God and faced the wrath of God on many occasions..

Romans 2: KJV

8 "But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, {9} Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; {10} But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:"

Being the chosen people was not always candy and sweets

From fiddler on the roof..

Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, TO THE JEW FIRST and also to the Greek.” God may have wanted that the world be saved, but He started with the Jews. That may be because the Jews’ belief in God, the belief of the People of the Book, had gone astray, with acts such as gambling and trade in God’s House of Worship on the Sabbath. Could the world be saved if God had started with the rest of the world first, by planting Jesus among the Greeks? I guess it would be ironic if the Greeks, who were not God’s chosen people, imparted to God’s chosen people a righteous way of believing in God.

But Romans 1:16 puts the salvation of God to the Jews first before anyone else. And many of Jesus’ disciples were Jewish who learned from Jesus the power of God for salvation, and Jesus in Mark 16:15-16 commands those disciples to spread God’s Word to the rest of the world.
Another point is that the geographical location of the Jews and Israel is at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa the main landmass of this world.. With the Mediterranean sea heading out into the Atlantic ocean to the west and the Red Sea leading out into the Indian ocean. God picked the perfect location on earth for His revelation to be revealed.. To the Jews first and then to the gentiles..

But between then and now, many of the gentiles who were converted saw their duty as forcing their belief in God, among the Jews. And so, these gentiles persecuted the Jews and tried forcing them to convert to their understanding of God through Jesus. That sort of makes topsy-turvy the passage of Romans 1:16. It’s as if Romans 1:16 said, ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, TO THE GREEK FIRST and THEN to the JEW.’
Those Christians who where and are true Bible following Christians never tried to force their beliefs on anyone.. Anyone who turned to persecution as a tool of evangelism was in rebellion against the will of God..

But Romans 1:16 seems to imply that it is up to the Jew to accept God’s salvation through Jesus, not to the gentiles who became aware of God only comparatively recently. But the offspring of those who were newly converted didn’t see it that way, apparently. What motive would they have for persecuting the Jews? Did not Jesus say to love thy neighbor as thyself?
Indeed He said love they neighbor as thyself.. And even more to love thy enemy.. And you don't do that by persecuting them.. But some twisted religions for example the catholic religion ended up with their vain thinking to decide that since a person can only be saved by becoming a good catholic then persecuting a non believer to within an inch of their lives was justified if in the end your terror upon them caused them to renounce Judaism and acknowledge the Roman catholic church as Gods authority on earth.. In their minds the ends justified them means.. In their minds the worst of terror and torture was worth it if the victim converted before they died.. But again that is Not Christianity that is a perverted uninspired false religion..

Did not Jesus define a neighbor as someone who could help you? Is killing the Jews the Crusade’s way of ioving their neighbor? Are the Inquisitions of the offspring of the newly converted against the Jews their way of loving their neighbor? Is the anti-Semitism that is in the news lately the way of the offspring of the newly-converted of loving their neighbor?
No..

And let’s be sure of Jesus command to his disciples in Mark 16:15-16. When he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, BUT WHOEVER DOES NOT BELIEVE WILL BE CONDEMNED,” did he mean that whoever does not believe, after receiving his teaching, should be tried for heresy, killed on sight, scorned, displaced, deprived, disenfranchised and ghettoized?
God judges them.. Not Christians.. Jesus said judge not least you be judged.. All the false christians who have persecuted others to try to force them to submit will face the wrath of God on the day of judgement.

But what was Jesus teaching? He was teaching the Law that was given to the Jews. He says to the Jews in Matthew 5:17, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

He also said that nobody goes to God except through him, but where do you draw the line between fulfilling God’s Law by loving your neighbor, and hating your neighbor contrary to God’s Law? Jesus also says in Matthew 5:44 to love your enemies. Even if the Jews were perceived as being the enemy, would it be Christian-like to not love them?

If God meant for the Jews to be the enemy, if such is the case, then why was Jesus born among them? God only knows.
Many Jews are the enemy of the Message of the Gospel just as many gentiles today are the enemy of the Message of the Gospel.. But that does not make them my personal enemies.. They hate the Word of God.. It does not necessarily mean they hate me.. We must be the enemy of no one even if the other person has decided to be an enemy against us..

I'm going to give a some answer. The reason that God sent Jesus to the "Jews" first and brought Jesus through the Jew, is because he made a the Jew for that purpose. He set apart a man, Abraham, to bring a lineage from, that he would then manifest himself in the flesh through. The reason he chose them was because he made them for that purpose.
Think of it this way, if you built a tool to accomplish a specific task, when it came time to do that task you would then use that too that you purpose built for that task. You wouldn't try to use some other tool that wasn't made specifically for that job.

Good way to explain. As a temporal tool he set them apart for certain purposes. It would seem some made it about themselves and missed the purpose and stumbled over the cross.

2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

God revealed His message through His word.. not through people. He revealed his good news to Abel and sent him to reveal it to his Cain. Cain killed him following the natural course of this world. Abel's blood cries out

Who kept the Torah of God for those thousands of years? The Jews.. He revealed His will through His dealings with the Jews and used the Jews as an example..

First folks, there are twelve tribes of Israel, not just that of Judah.

Second, in Hebrew the Ethiopians and dark Africans are called for one of NOah's grandson's, the name escapes me at present...

All words andnames have origins. Bethlehem means house of Bread., where our Bread of Heven waws born. .

I found the peoples called for the sons of Cush called Cushim…….

One of the sons of hAM, rRosh, is given credit for the latr name of Russia. His brother, Meshech is said to have evolved into Moushcouch and later Moscow……..as for my spelling, it is sounded out...….research these yourself. It is all fascinating when learned or studied.

People ought to be more concerned with people who are anti-christ than anti-semitism which just seems a red herring.

Ive never experienced anti-semitism but I know that christians have always been persecuted. And sometimes by the jewish population! JEsus own familiy was against him, and also Judas, his own disciple, betrayed him.

In the OT Gods people, Israel, split into two and divided and turned against each other! It was house of Israel vs house of Judah. So you cant say it didnt happen within their OWN people.

I would agree as temporal examples of the unseen eternal Holy. We do not wrestles against flesh and blood, the things seen, in that way we are commanded to know no man after the flesh but we do wrestle against the unseen things in high places.

The faithless Jews were used to represent unbelief (no faith) in the heart any nation. A picture to the whole world. Not just the Jewish world as if it had to with their flesh, as if we did glory in it. .And not the Spirit of Christ, the born again Spirit of God.

My question would be. Who worked in them, yoked with them.... to both will and do the good pleasure of our Father of spirits? Who gets the glory" The Potter or the clay? They turned it upside down just as Catholicism today. Taking away the understanding of the Spirit of Christ.

The faithless Jew that are used to represent unbelief in any nations of the world, simply accredited the unseen work God was performing in them giving it over to their own flesh .Comparing themselves to and by their selves as to what the eyes see as "will worship".

The same kind of men that falsely prophesied "Judging before the time". They were trusting in the flesh of the apostles hoping it rose above the written authority puffing themselves up as oral traditions of men that do make the word of God without effect.

In that way no man can serve two masters as teaching authorities . He will hate the one by not obeying it, believing what it says, and love the other that does generate a faith by which one can believe. I would think we are not to glory in the flesh of any nation any gender we are not what we will be.. Reminds me of the spirit of Catholicism .We are the church , Just look and believe. No faith needed.

1 Corinthians 4:5-7 King James Version (KJV)Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

The unbelieving Jew, again was used as a type to represent unbelief in the heart of all of mankind. They received their reward of glorying in their flesh walking by sight. The gospel was hid because of their unbelief. Searching the scriptures making it about their flesh like some sort of Jewish hall of fame. (No offence against the flesh of any nation. Sorry if I had offended). .

In the end of the matter it reveals as a sign to the whole world "unbelief in the heart of mankind" who refuses to hear the gospel .

John 5:38-40 King James Version (KJV) And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Amen, Words come attached with meaning to them .Now days it anything goes just believe $$$$$$$$. .

Makes me wonder. We know the genealogy was fulfilled representing the Son of man would come in the flesh . The veil is rent . What would be the purpose of keeping up on ancestry today ? How far back do we have records ?Are there any actual what some might call pure Jews of the same DNA family, and tribes? Will Jews be required to take DNA test or receive the marrk ?

It sounds like you don't trust and believe the scriptures. I don't see how one could ever have peace and knowledge that way.
Different minds, different perceptions! I don't see how you can have peace and knowledge when you misunderstand our Holy God, the God who created us, so the established church gives God the reputation of even being a killer, misunderstanding he way our loving God is against sin. I should think it would be essential to learn the truth in the OT. I did. I searched until I found someone who knew biblical history and culture to help me understand. I found the understanding of ancient times has made leaps bounds through the knowledge gained by the deep sea scrolls, and searched for men who had studied scripture with that understanding.

Yes it does need to make sense otherwise it is NONSENSE.
I'm glad that you're able to make sense of that.

Seriously, nobody owes you further explanation, and nobody is obligated to make sense of anything to you. I explained why the term "anti-semitic" is used. You don't seem to like the explanation. So, go find your own. :)
