It will never show us how to be righteous, or how to love someone as God loved us, To find this out, we look at How God gave love to mankind, Not to the law.
Psa 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

The issue is that works cannot justify us for breaking the Law, that is what the sacrifice of Christ does for us...

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

His shed blood justifies us (pays the price for our sin in our stead), His death reconciles us to the Father and His life saves us.

What shocks me even more is to hear someone say the words of those in the epistles is more important than the words of Christ in the gospels.
But nevertheless we understand what they meant its just that they should be lovingly reminded that the bible is written by men inspired by GOD.

all this is true.

but it does not show us how to love or to follow Gods commands.

A non believer can not do any good. For he can do nothing out of true perfect love (which God requires)

thats why the law is unable to even show us how to do good.

All the law can do, all it was given to do. is show us how much we fail (if we have an open heart)

Was there a "mystery", i.e. "secret" that was hid from other generations and revealed to Paul through revelation of Jesus Christ?
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from
the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I:

and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you, Revelation 21:14 (KJV)

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works;
I muse on the work of thy hands.

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God?
or with what comparison shall we compare it?

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations:
ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age,
and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and
from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been
kept secret from the foundation of the world.

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,

your young men shall see visions:And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids
in those days will I pour out my spirit.

21Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

23And they waited for me as for the rain;
and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna,
and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him — the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,

Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing?
a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed

Hast thou heard the secret of God?
and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

Paul was given "NEW" revelation for the grace administration . . . the church . . . the body of Christ. Revelation that can not be searched out in the OT or gospels for it was kept hid from ages and generations . . . .

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began. Romans 16:25

How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ Eph. 3:3-9

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal. 1:11,12

Whereof I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Col. 1:25-27

This statement seems contrary to New Testament teaching...

Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The scriptures Timothy knew from childhood were the OT scriptures.

If something was kept hid from ages and generations . . . kept secret since before the world began - then revealed to Paul and in turn given to the "church" - would that not be NEW revelation?

Nothing is new under the sun and this is clear from scripture. Yeshua was in the perfect place to reveal all so why didn't He do it and leave it to Paul to create a hornets nest?

So Paul was the Spirit of truth?
Paul had the Spirit of truth in him(The Holy Spirit) And he preached the message Christ gave him to preach to others who had the Spirit in them also. They could then bear to understand what Christ said previously his disciples could not at that time bear knowledge of

How can a person go totally wrong if they follow JESUS, the ONE who fulfilled the Law? HE is our example. He brought us the full circle. HE mirrored and reflected and tied together all the loose ends that the OLD TESTAMENT has. Our salvation depends on the acceptance of HIS shed blood..not some dove, pigeon or goat from the old testament. NO, we are not to cast aside the old Testament, for it reflected HIS coming...but, again..why look backwards when JESUS is standing before us, and also holding us up, supporting us , even behind us when we can't 'see' Him. Learn from the past and always move forward. We do not need to have the Ten commandments posted before us when we have the Holy SPIRIT, our Comforter, living inside of us, living in us, guiding and directing us. Nobody dropped dead the day the Ten Commandments were taken down from our American courthouses. LIFE goes on.

2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

We should take Peter’s warning to hart when reading the letters from Paul as this is the source of confusion in the Christian religion today. I am not an anti-Paul guy myself but we can clearly identify the problem when looking at churches today.

It is my belief that any minister who fully and forthrightly preached the message of grace Paul wrote of would see his church packed out.
In regard to 2Peter3:16. We have to lean on the Holy Spirit to show us the truth of what is written, if we do not we are unlearned and unstable, for we can only understand spiritual truth by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us (1Cor2:12-14)

thats because the message of grace was taught in the OT. It was not new, Man has always been made right with God by faith.

the mystery was that Jesus first had to come as suffering servant, and not king messiah, The Israel would be set aside for a time period. That there would be two comings of Christ That was the mystery.

Grace has always been the means to eternal life though, from adam till today.
