Also I think Luke doesn't use exceeding in the KJV either... bad example on my part. :)
By which you proved what I said earlier.

It was error, because you saw something different in NIV. When you discovered the same thing in the KJV, its suddenly OK.

I know what you are saying and what I gave was a bad example.

Sure I can know your understanding of truth from the KJV. I know that you and almost everybody else on this forum including the KJV onlies don't believe every word for exactly what it says.

When a person (not necessarily you) says the word "hate" doesn't really mean hate, you just tripped over the stumbling block God laid for you and you have absolutely no ability to understand the spiritual concept and spiritual gem that was hidden there.

So yeah, I can know that your version of truth will vary very greatly from someone who believes every word as written. You already know this yourself... your beliefs don't line up with mine.
Do you really believe that Jesus literally mistook pharisees for whitewashed coffins? Do you think He literally encourages plucking out eyes and amputating healthy limbs?

I know only of one person in history, who took such words literally and castrated himself - Origenes, the one attacked so much by the KJVO crowd for his "allegorical" theology :D

"We do not deny, nay, we affirm and avow, that the very meanest translation of the Bible in English set forth by men of our profession…containeth the word of God, nay, is the word of God: as the King’s speech which he uttered in Parliament, being translated into French, Dutch, Italian, and Latin, is still the King’s speech, though it be not interpreted by every translator with the like grace, nor peradventure so fitly for phrase, nor so expressly for sense, everywhere"

Of the approximate 600,000 men that God delivered out of Egypt, only TWO of those were allowed to enter into the land flowing with milk and honey - milk and honey representing the milk and meat of the word of God.

For those that don't know, those Israelites were saved. They were covered by the blood of the lamb. Now apply that shadow to the church. Out of all the believers who are saved and covered by the blood of Jesus, a very very small few have or will enter into the promise land.

Just saying... Whatever the bulk of "Israel" today is saying and doing, is NOT what you want to be doing if you want to enter the promised land.

I challenge you to support this with Scripture. Your first statement was correct but this is NOT inferred by it.

Jesus said the pharisees were like white washed coffins, not that they were. But as far as plucking out thine eye, yes I most certainly believe that is necessary.... not your literal eye but your spiritual eye and not your physical right hand but your spiritual right hand.

Can you give me some examples of spiritual eyes and spiritual right hands?

Do you think this is a literal eye or a spiritual eye?

[h=1]Matthew 6:22-23 King James Version (KJV)[/h]22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Matthew 6:22-23 King James Version (KJV)

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
That is the verse that came to my mind also :)

I don't understand the point here, they are saying that older English translations were the word of God also.

[h=1]1 Corinthians 10:6-11 King James Version (KJV)[/h]6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Let's cut to the chase here. People who change the words of the bible like hate doesn't really mean hate or cut off your right hand doesn't mean cut off your right hand it just means sin is serious and needs to be dealt with harshly.

You guys who do that COMPLETELY miss the true meaning of the verses..... WHY do you miss it - because you don't base your beliefs on what the bible literally says, you make it up as you go.

I'm sorry, not trying to be offesenvise, just brutily honest but your doubting minds hit something that you can't understand so you change the meaning to fit your current level of understanding. And you expect to grow and learn like that? No wonder you guys can't understand a thing I talk about.

Does that mean one eyed people's bodies are full of light? Are one eyed peoople better than two eyed people lol? Also what is a literal evil eye... what makes it evil and how does that make your literal body full of darkness?

It's a spiritual eye trof. :)

Some people claim that is the seat of consciousness, rooted in the pineal gland.

I've toyed with that idea before but I haven't found the pineal gland in the bible yet... not to say it's not there but I think the light Jesus is talking about is the word. I understand the evil eye but the single I eye I'm sure about. I think it might be the opposite of the double-minded man.
