There are certainly a few members who consistently write very long posts. I usually ignore them, as I'm not here to read novels. I prefer a few brief paragraphs at most. It's a discussion site, not a lecture theatre. There's a part of CC for blogs for those who want to write them.

The preceding is JMO. :)

I’m sure others must have mentioned this, but why do some people post what looks like an essay. I honestly think the majority will skim through them (like me)sorry 😐
Ever consider perhaps they are writing it as a form of learning process.

You had teachers in the past who taught you that, "You may think you are clear in your head, but when you write it out coherently, your learning increases significantly?"

Aaah yes, and I know that there are 3 learning methods. reading mustn’t be mine as I only usually manage 1 chapter of The Bible a day (depending on the book)😊. I prefer listening to lecturers and taking notes. Thankyou for explaining that

Long post alert-
read this last night & It quenched my doubts😁
Psalm 146:3-8
Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever, Who executes justice for the oppressed,

Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises those who are bowed down-
Jesus did all these miracles!.
Thankyou Cc

Dr Rainey said that the sign of a genius is someone who can teach/relate to people on all levels. Apparently, There’s not many who can do it...Einstein could (so could dr Rainey) 😁

I think it’s kind of harsh to say some are more “unintelligent” because they have a lot to say. Everyone has a different thought process. Some are more simple minded, some are more deep than others. They may have studied that subject and took the time and effort to write and share what they learned to help you. I don’t think because someone shares a long post that it should be considered a negative thing. An another note, happy Friday!

I just thought of a possible solution... I am going to try and use the "read aloud" option on my browser for long posts!

Thanks so much for this post, EverlyGrace! 🙂

I can freely admit to being one of those dreaded "unintelligent" long posters. :)

My longest posts tend to come in the form of threads in the Singles forum, and this is because I usually introduce a topic by telling a story to hopefully make it more relatable to others. I've tried cutting out large chunks of my posts before but find that they tend to lose their "flavor" -- it's like making a recipe and leaving out several key ingredients -- but that's just my own style of writing.

I also choose to do most of my writing on a laptop, so the wider viewpoint makes me forget that even a few paragraphs will be much longer to scroll through on a phone.

I most certainly respect (and sometimes envy) those who can emote their thoughts while exercising extreme brevity.

I'm not offended at if/when people just pass by my posts because they're seen as being too long -- it's something we all do from time to time, and if reading long posts isn't your thing, no worries!

We have plenty of talented people here who excel at briefer postings that say everything that needs to be said -- I hope you (the original poster of the thread, Reformyourself, not the person I quoted, EverlyGrace) will find some of them whose work you admire and might even choose to follow. :)

P.S. Believe it or not, I went back and shaved 3 sentences off this post after I wrote it, just for you. :)

Many people who do not have a good grasp on their subject matter need more words to try to explain what they know little about.
Not necessarily. It is all about your target audience. Are you trying to reach a 5th grader? 12th grader? College? Or to persuade other scholars?

Obviously your target audience matters.
