It would be an intermediate place where the righteous dead go until the time of Christ's second coming when they'll return to this earth with him in glorified bodies in order to reign and rule with him during his Millennial Reign...just as the Bible says.

In Heaven, we will see God Face to Face in Perfect Light, and enjoy Eternal Happiness with God, and all His Angels and Saints, forever and ever. We should always consider that any amount of suffering whatsoever cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed.

As it is written: "8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body ... 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:8-10; 16-18)

what would heaven be like for you
Heaven to me would be like in revelation 21; absolutely glorious!

All Things Made New
21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, [a]John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said [b]to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

6 And He said to me, “It[c] is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes [d]shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, [e]unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
The New Jerusalem
9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came [f]to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the [g]bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the [h]great city, the [i]holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the [j]names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand [k]furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17 Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. 18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
The Glory of the New Jerusalem
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine [l]in it, for the [m]glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations [n]of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor [o]into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into [p]it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything [q]that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

the new Jerusalem would be absolutely huge with as promised by Jesus son of the living God, plenty of rooms for all. the new Jerusalem will be about 1400 miles wide, long and high with the living God of all creation to illuminate it, it will be most glorious to behold, we cannot even imagine or comprehend.

Blessings to all who believe in the living God and his Son Jesus Christ, our savior!

Although this is all true, all of this will transpire right here on earth when the heavenly Jerusalem descends out of heaven to this earth.

Wouldn't you agree?

Please say "yes".

I can't handle too much more grief in these discussions in the BDF.

well, it's clear you are in the "new earth" camp where folks believe we will spend eterinty on a new earth.......

that kinda goes against what Jesus said about Him going to prepare a place for us in heaven........but, shoot, lots of folks in your camp.

I often think of the "new earth" idea and our eternity in Heaven in Gods Kingdom.......and wonder if the two can be reconciled?

Best thought I have is that those believers who are "saved only", not yet sanctified when Jesus returns may well spend eternity on a new earth. As they have not grown to become "spiritual believers," they are not able to be part of those who spend eternity in Gods Kingdom.

No one knows when Jesus will return, and it is a clear possibility that there will be numerous "new believers/converts" just accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. They are SAVED, and heirs to the Promise of eternal life, but have not grown to be "spiritual believers" able to worship God in spirit and Truth.

These spiritual believers are the ones (IMO) who will live in the mansions Jesus prepared for them, and will worship God on His Throne. They will live for all eternity with God in Heaven.

This, at least, reconciles the two concepts of what the afterlife will bring.

No offense, but, in reality, there's nothing to reconcile because Jesus never uttered a single word about any alleged mansions in heaven. That belief, as common as it is, is based solely upon a terrible translation which is found in John 14:2 in the KJV coupled with a wrong interpretation of something that Jesus never actually said.

I covered this my last time through here as "Live4Him2".

Here's the post if you or anybody else here is interested in reading it:

A mansion is a large dwelling house. The word itself derives through Old French from the Latin word mansio "dwelling", an abstract noun derived from the verb manere "to dwell".

Mansion, from the French root, means a dwelling.
Most people in England may trace their family names back to the French, Normans to be the majority of indluencer who invaded England.
The actually inhabitants of what is now called England were forced into and area that is now called Wales.
Long before I studied linguistics, I understood the meaning of many mansions proceeding from the mouth of our Savior. Perhaps it is because I was very young, about eight.
i SINCERELY HOPE YOU DO NOT BELIEVE MOST BELIEVE WE ARE GOING TO BE LIVING IN WHAT I NOW CALLD AND UNDERSTOOD TO BE A mansion. Nosiree, it will be better than that and for all who believe. God bless you always and do not confuse knowledge from this age with the honest understanding of believer.
