Defending sin seems to be the chief goal of many on this forum...they will stop at nothing to promote their lifestyle as being biblical, and justify it too...I think Ive seen just about every twist of scripture possible to defend sin on this forum...the strength in numbers and intensity is mind boggling..Imagine if they put the same amount of effort into entering by the narrow way and crucifying the flesh in a season of godly sorrow, "ie" 2 Cor. 7-10,11...

Actually exposing the sin of unbelief in the finished work of Christ for what it truly is and standing against self-righteousness instead of relying on Christ's righteousness for life and living is not what one would call "defending sin" but people are entitled to their own opinions.

No one on this forum does this. You have to continue your straw man though or you'd have nothing to say. I suppose you feel spiritual when you falsely accused others of things you assume they have said.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him (within the believer) verily is the love of God perfected: (moral uprightness, Christian perfection, faithful manifest reality) hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:3-6

One can take their vain arguments, apply the WHOLE COUNCIL OF GOD, and reduce their arguments to that of absurdities...

Those who believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) are suffering from a terminal case of self righteousness (1 John 1:8-10).

People lie so quickly to exagerate a point. People defend sin by saying I do not need
to repent of all my sin, just generally. I have sins I cannot resolve.

How do I know this? Because so few say I can walk righteously even for a few hours.

And why is it some people put forward arguments that are so flimsy? Because defending
ones lifestyle and resisting change is always the popular result. I mean to see ourselves
as we truly are, even we hate ourselves and our failures, to have the rest of world agreeing
that is a tough call. No much better to just go along with looking good and hiding.

Righteousness is surely given to us of God through Faith in Jesus, the difference is do we accept and walk in that gift, or do we go around saying were righteous and serving sin? it is a credit beforehand through Belief, but true belief acts. if we have been goiven the righteousness of Christ, then we have no excuse to continue serving sin is the thing. the distortion is that Jesus crucifixion somehow means it no longer matters What we actually do whether we serve sin into death, or obedience unto righteousness and eternal Life. Before Jesus we had no righteousness, therefore we were slaves to sin and needed salvation from that.

Jesus has given us that so as to be freed from sins power over us, and empower us with His righteousness. It is up to us to decide who to follow, we can freely return to slavery, or press foreward in the freedom of Christ, walking in righteousness and truth before God. We can serve the former dominion of Sin which leads to death, or we can take up our cross and follow the Lord in righteousness leading to Life. Jesus didnt remove our choice...He GAVE us a choice to be free. we are free to do right, or wrong and Jesus removed the lack of choice

People lie so quickly to exagerate a point.
Well try changing.

People defend sin by saying I do not need to repent of all my sin, just generally.
None of us could ever plumb the depth of our sin. We can only repent of known sin.

I have sins I cannot resolve.
who says that?

How do I know this? Because so few say I can walk righteously even for a few hours.
I would never say you can walk righteously for that long. Your view of sin is too low.

And why is it some people put forward arguments that are so flimsy? Because defending
ones lifestyle and resisting change is always the popular result. I mean to see ourselves
as we truly are, even we hate ourselves and our failures, to have the rest of world agreeing

Valiant. Have you read what sin actually is?
It is not loving your neighbour.

Jesus who died upon the cross for you, for you to walk with Him your
heart should have changed. Do you find you can love people, even a little
bit? Because if you have the Holy Spirit and know Christ you will find this
love flows.

Paul, Peter, John talked about this being our birthright.

If it is so alien to you, I would question what kind of conversion experience
you have had. But maybe your emotions are so repressed, faith is a mental
assent, and it is hard for you to get beyond this. All I can say is God has so
much more for you, if you will start to let go and begin feeling again.

Sin is unbelief in the finished work of Christ and us trying to establish our own righteousness by what we do or don't do.

All sinning of the flesh has it's roots it unbelief in what Christ has done for us in some form or other.

For example:

If I steal something. That is sinning. The real sinning behind it is the unbelief that my loving Father will take care of me and I am taking things into my own hands to get what He has promised to provide. All the promises of God are Yes and Amen in Christ. The root behind the sinning of stealing is unbelief in what Christ has already done.

In self-righteousness - we are living in the sin of unbelief that Christ Himself is our righteousness and thus we need to create and maintain our own righteousness.

Self-righteousness/holiness and humanistic worldly belief systems are always trying to achieve what Christ has already done for us by grace through faith.

Sin is putting our wants and desires above those of anyone else, and taking what we
want without regard to ownership or impact in other peoples lives.

It comes because we cut off from who they are and their feeling and rights.
We justify by the hurts and pain we feel inside, which cuts us off from others
and makes meeting our own needs our highest priority.

Jesus turns this upside down, by coming invited into our hearts and healing
us so we want to help others, to reach out and heal them, that love pours out
of us so it becomes a passion to help unlock the doors and let the light in.

Jesus is the only one who can do this because it is the cross that is the brightest
light of all, for those who embrace its reality.

No power on earth can stop this reality calling the elect into the Kingdom, no
matter how much they might fight or try and stop the dawning of the Kingdom
in the hearts of man, Praise the Lord, glory to His name, Jesus is Lord, Amen

In short the Penal Substation model (the entitlement provision) eradicates the desire to crucify the flesh and DO that which is pleasing to the Lord from heart purity, thus becoming spiritual couch potatoes insisting “it’s not of works” only provisional. The REALITY is, no commitment/covenant no salvation, just the demands for salvation, because it is perceived to be an entitlement program/provision. Creating a spiritual welfare society that is morally bankrupt..
