The serious student of the Bible can see that Rev.. is a history book, of the present day of John and extended to our day, and the end of this age. Please, read Rev. 17-20 carefully, you see that in John's day 5 Kings have gone, one King is ruling, and the 7th and 8th are/is yet to come. !7:10-11 The 7th/8th king is the beast who goes to "perdition". (In my thinking, there must be 2,000 yrs. between the 6th and the 7th kings. because Jesus in 17:14 destroys him and the ten kings of v.12-13, "overcomes them" v.14. "And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."17:18 , Mystery Babylon is a city. It is my conviction that John would thing of Rome, as the city that was ruling over the "saints". And to add to the horrors of Rome in the last 2,000 yrs, is the Rom. Cath. church, seated in Rome. Rome will be gone forever, 18:21 "shall not be found anymore". Jerusalem will be found forever more. Rev21-22, the New Jerusalem is ever lasting. AMEM ! Jeremiah said, God will give Jerusalem a future forever more. And all the Bible agrees. Jerusalem is forever! Case closed! Well, OK, that is MY "humble" opinion. LOL Time will tell. Love to all Hoffco

Sorry about that. Instead of saying you I should have put the name of the one who has the presonal agenda. You know the one who continually lies and says I teach dual covenat theology which says that Jews may simply be saved by adhering to the law. Clearly I teach no such thing. Regardles of whether one is an Old Testament believer (like Moses or Daniel) or a New Testament believer (like you and I ), from Adam to Christ's return the only method of salvation is to be born again. No one from Adam until Christ's return has been or will ever be saved by adhering to the law. So for one to lie and say I espouse something I don't clearly shows that person has an agenda. I do get a laugh out of it considering that false accusation is totally ridiculous!

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
1Co 10:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
And the liar & accuser of the brethren is who?

His VIEWPOINT was the 6th king that is. That does not mean the sixth king was live at that time, it simply means that Christ (the Revelator) was allowing John to view the end time from that vantage point.

Not sure where you are getting the 2000 years. Afterall Cain murdered Abel roughly 6000 years ago and people are still being murdered today and will be on into our future. So clearly the figurative language that describes Babylon as a city must be referring to a system of some sort that has existed for roughly 6000 years already and will continue to exist until the last person to be slain upon this earth is slain. That effectively eliminates a literal city and demonstrates that she is not constrained by time or location.

May God bless your studies!
Got a question for ya...... Why would someone start a thread throwing everyone off track what Mystery Babylon really is, a religious system, to blame Israel instead? That's a "mystery" in itself. :)

The problem is , that people don't study from there bible , or that they see through some camps lenses. The important thing to down is pray for wisdom and understanding and just rely on the Lord.

If you don't pay attention to grammer and seek to grasp the text of scripture, than it's easy to be mislead.

Listen to how many people explain the text this way, mystery babylon, instead of mystery, babylon the great is fallen, is fallen.
Now from what angel have I heard that before in the scriptures?

If you take isreal out of the picture than the only one left are pagan gentiles trying to weed themselves in everypart of the text of scriptures.

To john832, Please be careful to read exactly what I say. My post 484 was very clear. "the 6th king was ruling" in John's day as John was in Heaven getting Jesus prophecy to write to us. then, they must be a GAP in time,2,000 yrs, between John's day and the "end" time, where we are living today, you can understand my words, right? A GAP of 2,000 yrs. between the 6th king, of John's day, and the 7th/8th king of the "end "time, when Jesus will return to earth. Your post 485 totally changed my word on the 6th king. Please don't do that. Love to all, Hoffco

To doulos, I like much of what you say, from the last two pages of posts, i agree with you that " the only way" one gets saved from Adam to us, "is the New Birth , not the keeping of the Law." (Not an exact quote) I hope you would agree, that saved people do keep God's law. ?? My big question with you, now is, in light of Rev. 17:18 "And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth." Is not the angel, giving John the identity of the city? And would not John know the name of "that city" ? And what city, other than Rome would it be? Therefore "that city". to me , must be Rome,.! And "that city" must be a great geo-political, religious city, like Rome has always been. Love to all, Hoffco

you might also ask why that someone seems totally intent on making christianity look insane by espousing as many crazy fringe notions as possible and calling it all christianity...

It's false teaching, plain & simple. I would just like to know what group within this system it's being done for......
