Brother Marc can you show a reliable historical source that disproved Rachals statements besides the issue about the day of the Lords death...I kinda have an issue with that myself. I Have seen that both you guys are very honest and sincere in your beliefs.
The excerpt from my commentary is my own work. The reliable source is Exodus Chapter 12. I relied only on Scripture; which I consider the MOST reliable historical source.

Sure its 100% right...on those things it speaks on, you know as well as I that it don't speak directly on the holiday of "easter'' or whatever folks want to call it, of about catholics perverting holidays etc...

Is that because you say so or can you show where my analysis of the verses is faulty?
It's simple, really.

Good Friday
Saturday
Resurrection Sunday

Three days.

I've read you're a teacher. Let's hope it's not math.:)
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

MYTH: Jesus died on a Wednesday, not on Good Friday.
REALITY: Jesus died on a Friday. REALITY Jesus Died on Thursday!

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when
I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to
destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
As trusting in the blood spared them from physical death, trusting in the blood of Christ
spares us from spiritual death.
14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the
LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for
ever.
For those who trust Christ for salvation, Jesus (Yeshua) is our Passover and
Resurrection Sunday(which has been paganized to Easter) is our memorial. I am
saved by God’s grace; not by works of the law; yet as a Jewish believer, I have
felt led to observe the Feasts of Israel to identify myself with Israel. Rom 8:14-17
indicates that Gentile believers are adopted into the family of Christ; but many fail
to recognize that that family is the family of Judah. Perhaps, if Gentile believers
were to keep the Feasts of Israel, (not under compulsion of law), they would
experience more of a sense of connection with their adoptive family.
{Return to: verse 43 , Lv 23:5, Nu 9:5 }
15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put
away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from
the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; surely the first day ye shall put
away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from
the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
cut off from Israel cut off usually signifies destroyed; but, with from Israel, or
‘from among’ , the sense seems to be NOT put to death; but excluded from
fellowship and regarded as a heathen.
{Return to: Ex 12:19 , Lv 23:6 }

16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh
day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be
done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of
you.
an holy convocation A day set apart for worship.
no manner of work shall be done The 15th day of Abib is a Levitical Sabbath
regardless which day of the week it falls on. The mistaken belief that Jesus
(Yeshua) was crucified on Friday comes from not recognizing that the Sabbath
which was approaching was not the seventh day; but rather the fifteenth of Abib,
which fell on a Thursday that year
. Thursday night and Friday were the First day.
Friday night and Saturday were the second day. Christ arose on Sunday, the
third day. The reason the women thought they had to wait until Sunday to
prepare the body for burial was that there were two consecutive Sabbaths.

MYTH: Jesus died at the same time as the Passover lambs were being slaughtered.
REALITY: This is an unbiblical tradition that is popular among some Christians, probably because it just seems so appropriate. In reality Jesus died around the ninth hour or 3:00 PM the day after of the Passover seder, when the lambs would have been slaughtered at twilight as commanded in Exodus 12:6 and Deuteronomy 16:6. Although this tradition would seem fitting, it is biblically impossible.

The remainder of the OP is equally misguided but I have dealt with it in my Paganization of the Church thread.
Correction: but rather the fifteenth of Abib,
which fell on a Thursday that year
........ Thursday should read Friday

Context is needed here. Who were the people who wrote the accounts? What was their culture? Who was their audience? When did these authors live? These factors all need to be taken into consideration when answering this question. The Bible is God's truth for all time, but context is still very necessary.

I know it's a bit off topic, but just thinking about these women, bathing the tortured and wrecked body of murdered Jesus while preparing HIM for burial. How hard it must have been to keep the faith when you're preparing for the grave, with your own hands, the defeated and torn body of the Messiah who promised Salvation to the world? Wow untold pain and stab to the soul. I wonder did they know? Did they keep the hope? Or they temporarily forgot what He said because of what was before their eyes? And not just before their eyes, they touched death, just like Thomas touched resurrection... who would know what trouble was in their souls?

It had to be incredibly hard to endure watching His torture and crucifixion, but where do you read the women prepared His body for burial?

John 19:39And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. 39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. 40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. 41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. 42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Luke 24 tells us the women came early the first day of the week, bringing spices, so they had no knowledge it had already been done, (they left after seeing Him laid the evening of His death). They didn't know what transpired, they came prepared to do it, but it had already been done, which to me seems worse. I'd imagine that waiting for 3 days and nights, knowing how a body decays, plus time to get over the initial shock..much worse.

Good advise! How about this:

John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. 28Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. 29For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

..now, if the last supper was a Passover meal, why would they think Judas was going out to buy something for a meal they'd already eaten? Maybe it was ...just supper.

But here's the thing. If 3 days/3 nights are the only sign..then why do we try and say it's not 3 days 3 nights? Keeping Easter instead of Passover keeps one blind. If we would study and do the Feasts, we might get a better understanding of why we are told to do them. One for instance, why was Mary told not to touch Messiah because He'd not ascended yet..then later He's asking Thomas to touch Him? Why are we told the graves were opened even before the (John Wayne) said "He really is the Son of God"? and then they (those in the graves) did not arise until Messiah did, 3 days later. I'm just asking questions I'd wondered about for a long time. Studying the Feasts gives us answers. The answers are in the Feasts ceremonies.

The meal just eaten was the Passover meal. Buy those things that we have need of against the feast refers to the feast of unleavened bread. Because it was a Levitical Sabbath, nothing could be purchased the next day.

what about this? (verse 14)

John 19:13When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! 15But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

maybe i didn't make this clear in my essay...

the annual passover sabbaths were -always- without exception -always- on the day after the seder...the 15th of nisan...and the seventh day of the feast...the 21st of nisan...

we know that jesus died on the 15th of nisan because he had held the passover seder the night before according to matthew 26:17-19...mark 14:12-16...and luke 22:7-13,15... and if the 15th of nisan when jesus died was a day of preparation...then the 16th of nisan was a sabbath...
Apparently you don't know that the days begin at sunset so the Passover they had was at the very beginning of the 14th and the next day up until sunset was still the 14th of Nisan. That's OK, it's a rookie mistake.

like i showed before...it is -impossible- for the annual sabbaths of the passover feast to fall on the 16th of nisan...they were fixed on the 15th and 21st...

the -only- sabbath that could have possibly taken place on the 16th of nisan was the weekly saturday sabbath...and if the 16th of nisan was saturday...then the 15th of nisan when jesus died was a friday...

this weekly sabbath was considered a 'high sabbath' because its observance would have been altered slightly during the feast...
Would you please show us where a weekly Sabbath becomes a high Sabbath? I'd like to see some scholarship here.

I think we both know why people continue with the myth of Ishtar.
