Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and Catholics may enjoy being under the title umbrella of Christianity, but when compared to the fundamental beliefs of the body of believers in the first century "church" none of these fits that category. (For more info, see the permanent sticky posted at the top of the Bible Discussion forum.)

In fact, Christianity was originally considered a sect of Judaism, just like the Pharisees. We were called the followers of The Way, or the Sect of the Nazerene, because we followed Jesus of Nazereth. Putting everyone under this big umbrella of Christianity really clouds the waters and confuses the unbelieving world on what we're really about.

God has done a great work of redemption in the midst of the RCC with its people and has saved and converted 1,000 of them, including priests and nuns, through grace and the blood of Christ. You can't say that about the JWs or the Mormons. When are some of you going to open your eyes and see the work of God that is going on in the midst of many people and that includes those that are lost in the RCC. This does not change our faith or what we believe and have been rooted in, in terms of the doctrine of Christ and the finished work of the cross. If anything it confirms our faith.

When I confront a catholic I never get occupied with Mary or with any of the doctrine they hold onto that is not of the faith of Christ, I take their doctrine and belief and point it to Christ to magnify Christ and keep the gospel before them and keep that before their face. Jesus said in (Jn 3;14-16, 12:32,33) if I be lifted up as the Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, I will draw all men unto me. You see a catholic, lift up Christ. You see any lost soul, you lift up Christ, His name and the cross and impart the life of God through the gospel and never stop doing it because it is power of God unto salvation it is upon that name that people call upon for salvation (Rom 10:13, 1Cor 1:2, Acts 4;12).

Does the catholic leave the catholic church?

Or can they be converted and continue in the catholic faith?

However you answer the following will be my answer to what you have asked.

Have you left the world and the things of the world concerning the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the PRIDE OF LIFE, and have you stopped being conformed to this world and are rather being transformed by the renewing of your mind daily through the word, through doctrine, through taking up your cross and through the grace of God? Are you perfectly joined unto the Lord in one Spirit in the church and body of Christ with no reservations or hindrances in your faith?

In the same measure you can give an affirmative YES to these things in the integrity and truthfulness of your own heart before the holiness of God, it would the same for any Gentile believer converted in the RCC or otherwise through the plan of God and through the work of God that He has promised to continually perform in the heart of those that have believed upon His Son.

I know of a Catholic priest who started reading Hebrews and realized he could no longer partake in the Catholic mass as a result. He was drawn by God, he got down on his knees and became a child of God right there. He then left the church as his eyes were opened to the truth.

This was the scripture he read... Hebrews 10:11-14: "And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified"

I read about a nun that was taking the Eucharist and a thought popped into her head "what if this isn't really the actual Jesus I'm swallowing" which led her to read the bible which she had never done. That led to her eventually being saved and she then left the catholic church.

However, I've also heard of some who remain in that church afterwards, but I'm not sure why??

Yes, I've heard of people leaving the catholic church and read testimony's on cc of this.

Could those that remain be witnessing to the others, or do you mean partake in the practices of the church?

I have seen many threads where others have put down other religions especially within Christianity. I just want to tell you that no religion whether Catholic or protestant or any other religion whether Christian or not is flawless and no matter what denomination you are, there will always be bad apples in that denomination. The best thing to do is to love one another and accept one another despite the difference. The Bible states that those who do not love thy neighbor don't love God for God is love. No church is going to be perfect.

This is very true. The truth is, there should not be any denominations. We are all one in the Lord. Denominations are due to mans desire for control.

If you understand this, perhaps you could take another step toward following Jesus, Yeshua, as He walked the earth, as a Jew. It works. All at once you realize that you are a citizen of His Kingdom, and a subject of the King of the Jews. Now what is incredible is this King of kings is our Friend and Savior. Now, how wonderful is that. You do not need to become a Jew according to how we know Jews today, and you do not need to learn to read and speak Hebrew, but knowing you are a fellow Jew because you believe Jesus, Yeshua, you have your complete identity with the God of Abraham, and as Abraham had faith, so do you, and as it is counted to him as works, so it is to you. Blessed be the God of the Jews, blessed be Yeshua, Jesus, amen. This is not a denomination, it is a way of life, true Life.

Because of what Jesus Christ has done for me and the faith He has given me, I can call Abraham my father. I am one of his children as promised by God the Father before Isaac was even conceived. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!

Rom 3:24-31

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

I agree, there are definitely saved/converted believers who remain in the RCC. But it is my impression that this is the exception, not the norm. I also agree with magnifying Christ and His work on the cross for our redemption to those who are unbelievers, including those in the RCC. I've found that using the Law is also helpful in showing someone's _need_ for salvation, but I would think those in the RCC already understand the concept of why we are sinners and need a savior. Still I like to use the Law as a way of starting the conversation.

I still think it's confusing to use the word Christian as an umbrella term as I stated before.

Lift up Christ, AMEN!

Is this how you justify saved rc people to remain within the catholic church?

First let's make sure we know what we are talking about. People make up the Church, not a denominational committee or group of people running a Church. Yes, no one is perfect .How ever, there are churches or denominations that one should stay away from. The Bible teaches that if anyone teach any other doctrine than what Paul taught, they should be accused. If a brother or sister confess to being a Christian and live in a homosexual relationship, the Bible teaches that we should not even eat with such a person.

Love and obeying God's word can be confusing, let's always make sure that we are obeying God's word and doing His will and not mans. Romans, first and second Corinthians. Cheers
