  • Well the Bible is simply not clear on this subject, so we shouldn't have any doctrine on this matter

Personally, I don't believe in women's ordination. I attend a Church that does not practice women's ordination. Women perform certain functions and God designed it this way. It's not about being capable or less than, but about the office of authority and the freedoms and limitations that God places on that office.

However, I am curious to know what people think; people who are against women's ordination but attend a church or belong to a denomination that DOES practice women's ordination. Do you stay at the church just because you have family there or it's the only show in town or???

I also wonder how people or denominations that are against women's ordination handle the following verses:

1 Corinthians 11:5-7 (New International Version)

5And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. 6If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 7A man ought not to cover his head,[a] since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.

I know of a few protestant denominations that have their women wear the covering while at church and others still, all of the time. For those that are against women's ordination but have managed to come up with a teaching that makes the above verse obsolete, I'd be interested to hear from ya'.

God bless.

I believe in women preachers. The bible says your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Look at Joyce Meyer, Gloria Copeland and all other women preachers if God can use a man to preach he can also use a woman. Don't limit what God can do, and that is what you are doing when you say you don't believe in woman preachers. God uses people for different things he may want you to teach, or to preach, or sing in the choir who knows it's up to God what he wants you do with the talents He has blessed us with. I am a Sunday School teacher for pre-k and K.

After a bit of pondering on this I can't help wonder. God created Adam and Eve, giving Eve, the woman, the power to carry a child, deliver and give birth. On that note, and NOT because I am a woman, I have to consider the fact that giving birth and raising a child that is to grow INTO A MAN, would set the precidence for his adult life, ergo is she not teaching? I would think that if a woman is given the ability to give birth, that should be accepted as an immensly powerful statement in and of itself, so why would someone with this ability NOT be 'allowed' to teach men? Although the man DOES play an equal part in the conception, the burden of care throughout the pregnancy for herself and unborn child, the pains and trials of the pregnancy and the labor/delivery of the child is alone, a HUGE responsibility, without which no man (or woman) would be brought into this world. Just a thought.

There's already enough feminisation of churches without the leadership being female as well.
Paul did not allow a female to hold authority over a male.
As long as we recognise females in authority is going against Paul's teachings, so we can't claim to follow scripture 100%.

Excellent thought young lady! That gets to the point of discussion. The Bible does not forbid women to teach altogether rather only in the context of the Church and even there is say a woman may not teach a MAN not a child. Any 1st yeart year greek student knows that if Paul wanted to specify all men all together he easily could have but he did not. So historically around the age of puberty more or less you get same sex bible lessons thus the advent of men's and woman's bible studies. At a certain age the struggles are different and its not a good idea for the sake of one another to discuss certain things together. To be fair though historically (not just looking at protestantism) the idea of sunday school, small groups, etc... are very recent. All this used to be expected to be done at home and all the family life centered around the worship service. That is ideal but I think a hybrid sorta compromise can work.

But God will never go against His own Inspired Word: 1ti 3:2A BISHOP then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Jesus said that there would be people that did many mighty works in His name but would not enter in, just because someone is doing A great work for Jesus or even in His name, does not prove that one is a Christain, now I am not judging Joyce or Gloria, just merely saying that because someone has a great ministry is not iron clade evidence that they are pleasing God, how does A woman pastor tell her flock to obey the Word Of God when they only obey the parts they want to live by.man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word,

Mt 7:21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.Mt 7:22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?Mt 7:23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Krma_girl is teaching us that there should be no woman preachers therefore she is contradicting her own advice. I believe scripture says she should pass this communication onto her husband who is the proper authority and then he may post the thread to teach us that there should not be woman preachers.
What of those of us women whom have no man? No father, uncle or husband? Who do we turn to for guidance? Why are women given the holy spirit?

side note... prophecy is not a guarentee that you're a christian! So charismatics I would remember this verse quite well and let it inform you how you define prophecy.

Im still not sure of my thoughts on all this, but I heard an interesting point made in a sermon a few years ago. When it came to the garden of Eden. When satan tempted Eve. The pastor said that Eve was decieved but when Eve offered the fruit to Adam he knew what he did was wrong. Maby this is why the law is as it is. Or was the pastor wrong? God bless, pickles

It would be an interesting world we'd live in if only the female gender had partaken of the fruit, and not the male.

That has nothing to do with the subject. Paul makes his primary argument form the fact tht Adam was made first and the woman was made FROM Adam.

No I would not presume such a thing. Jesus is perfect and would then need a perfect wife. Besides the catholic nuns profess to be married to Jesus.

Are you then saying that women may not go to ministers for guidance?

A bit off topic, but I would just like anyone here to answer me this. How does Paul in 1 cor .14 when he says... «For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. » mean to say that ''ohh women can perach in church and do not have to be silent''. Directly in the context it specifically does nto refer to just one cultural situation (all the churches of the saints). And then says after that true prophets or being spiritual ought to acknowledge these things! Not because it is easy but because it is hard! There is no way anyone can affirm the authority of scripture and consistantly affirm women ordination. Dr. Mark Dever went to seminary supporting women ordination and his favourite professor supported this also but after conversations with him about the ''biblical evidence'' left seminary completely complementarian. If you want a free book on this issue John Piper's ministry would happily send it to you for free if you e-mail them and ask for either:
1. Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood or
2.Biblical Foundations for Manhood and Womanhood

just go to www.desiringgod.org and you can ask for the book free through the ''What ever you can afford policy'' or you can download it free via pdf.
