Is it not used figuratively of the mind as well.....

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Does not the bible say that out of the mind proceeds the evil....Did not Jesus say if you think it you have committed it already....?

The word heart is used with a few applications....one is in reference to the seat of intellect and or the MIND...right?
right

101 books on the subject are wrong and stoney girl conceded

so what else is knew or is that new or am I flexing my heart or maybe my brain

Jesus? could you please explain what you mean by

And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts?, like you said as recorded by Matthew

folks here have a problem with it

I dunno. I just figure Matthew got it right. was I wrong?

well join the club

that's the one we are all talking about and while I may have physically joined the conversation late, I have definitely been here in spirit as a lurker

jokes aside, the heart is used figuratively.
“And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts?” Matt. 9:4

there are other scriptures indicating conscience, purpose etc

the word 'heart' is used for all of them. even so, you cannot purpose to do something without the use of your mind

your conscience is not a physical, tangible thing

your will is determination

none of these things indicates a mystical heart
do a study on the Greek word Kardia, from where we get the word heart.

now vultures on the other hand gather to feast on the dead, don't they

and they hang around, circling and circling and circling...like that

until they find something they can land on and then they dig in

Not sure what you mean, I got a more deeper understanding f the word when I started to study it in its original language, the English language lacks so much, many words cause confusion instead of clarity,

i did a stdy study on the word kardia when I was in high school opened a whole new understanding how f what the biblical word heart meant

right..

~Pro 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
This verse is almost always taken out of context and was/is victim over over indulgent proof texting...

6 Do not eat the bread of a selfish man,
Or desire his delicacies;
[SUP]7 [/SUP]For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
He says to you, “Eat and drink!”
But his heart is not with you.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]You will vomit up the morsel you have eaten,
And waste your compliments.

This is talking about you not eating with a stingy/selfish person, who on the outside offers you food, but secretly worries about how much it will cost them to feed you and really has no desire to be around you...

Not sure when we started thinking this had to do with our own souls....
