It includes me too. And you're right - it makes us all look bad when we do it. We should discourage each other from it, amen! When we start going towards a brother with the same lack of love he comes at us in, we're just wasting our time because we're not speaking in love just like he isn't. If I EVER learn to not revile back and snip back, I will be very grateful and happy.

I think there are times people need rebuked for their behavior. Bit we need to be careful how we do it. If people keep doing it after a few have done this, then I think we need to escalate to someone who can actually do something about it. Instead of just keeping up the back and forth. for which I was guilty of.

I do not forget King Saul. Truthfully, his tale is disturbing. In some ways his story reminds me of Samson. Both had the Spirit leave them. But almost to prove that there was no seal of the Holy Spirit either way. Coming in, or going out, God heard Samson's prayer at the end and I believe the Spirit came back to him. God certainly granted his request.
Saul, is a question mark. I have heard good scholars give both sides of the debate of whether Saul is save.

Have you ever studied out the Holy Spirit seal as it relates to spiritual circumcision and covenant promise, just as physical circumcision in other Covenants and not necessarily a seal of eternal security?

For example,
Ever hear testimonies of the saved coming out of the occult that say they can see a son in the Spirit realm and they have a seal of the Holy spirit, which is represented by such a pure fire, they describe it as a white or blue flame?

free grace theology is exactly what a small part of Gnostic doctrine is...they believed you could live like hell in the flesh, because their spirits were blameless and saved...and the flesh was all evil and could not be crucified...but it did not matter, because the spirit of a man is what counts and is saved....

What stands out in my mind are the people who come along later in the new believers life and try to force feed them on a doctrine of faith plus works; we are save unto good works not by them.

Our Pastor from the first Church where I was born again and baptized, warned new believer's; that if later you get caught up in a legalistic Church, run for the door don't walk. And if you say; but they were so loving, run for the door faster. And I have never forgotten his word's to this day.

It is so important to warn new believers of the trappings of legalism; they may offer you a more "deep relationship", with Jesus; or I can take you into a deeper meaning of the bible;

"Practice" is an accurate translation of the Greek πράσσω prassō thus authentic. Don't just shoot from the hip/ad lib. We're talking about solemn truths here, 2 Timothy 2:15 theology, not opinion.

Seriously, the word is 'sin', and the translators add 'practice' or 'continue to' before the word in that verse, and as I said, to help us out with interpretation. The exact same Greek word does not get the word 'practice' or 'continue' added to it in other verses. If it did this is how this verse, for example, would read, yet it's the same exact Greek word for sin:

"8If we claim to be without (the practice of continual) sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8 NIV)

See, that directly contradicts what John says here when he says the one who does commit habitual sin is not born again:

"9No one who is born of God will continue to sin" (1 John 3:9 NIV)

I'll address this a little more fully brother. I hope there isn't much disagreement saying that Noah's Ark was a "type" of Christ. Or at least an attribute of Him.

Genesis 6:14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it INSIDE and outside with pitch.

The idea of the pitch (tar) on the outside is obviously to keep OUT the judgement of God on unrepentant sinners.

Now some commentators believe the purpose of the pitch on the inside is to preserve the Ark through millenia as a sign in the last days, and this may be true.

But if we look at the similitude, the pitch could be a modeling of the Holy Spirit sealing the inside for the saved. Remember WHO it was that closed the Ark door before the 1st drop. Now obviously Noah could have jumped out the window to joyfully embrace God's judgement! lol

So this "sealing" is a very important concept. Not to argue the eternal security point with you. I know where you stand on it, and although I wish you saw things my way, you trust in Christ, who He is, and what He has done, just like me. Therefore you are my brother and I love you.

ALL of this DOES NOT make me want to go out and sin more! Quite the contrary. I'm so blown away by His Mercy and Grace, that I hate to disappoint Him because I'm so grateful to Him. Consequently I WANT to please Him more knowing I am secure in Him.
