Yeah, there are MANY who want to believe that they are SAVED because they intellectually acknowledge that all the stories about JESUS are TRUE. But even the Demons believe that much. I have also noticed that most TV Preachers teach a Love Only Gospel, Watering down the true Gospel, and leaving out the parts of the Bible that are unpopular, such as Warning People about the reality of Hell. Makes you Wonder if Saving Souls is all that important to them, or is KEEP THE MONEY COMING IN, the most important thing to them.
I can see your point, the way I see it everybody’s floating down stream and I and a few more are swimming up stream.

Now your just adding lies to your working for I must keep myself saved false gospel.

How does lying and misrepresenting the facts of all that has been said to you help keep you saved?
Here is the problem I have with your approach and others from the beginning.

It is slander, dishonest, miss-representation, to say to a believer that they are lying when they are
honestly representing their view of scripture and theology. It is a perspective on life based on
various assumptions. If the model is consistent, it is a whole.

If ones approach is to attack the integrity of someone, then unfortunately it is the attacker who
is at fault. The spreading of the gospel has always been on the basis of love and peace, of talking
about absolutes in the Kingdom that are not compromised, that overcome darkness.

If you found your faith in scripture, then you have to be careful that the basis and assumptions you
use are sound.

The first principle is God is Holy. His ways are pure and overcoming. He is a healer and truth teller.
He knows how fragile we are are prone to exuberance, so He sets principles in place to bring this
balance home. Until we can work through our own emotional balances and needs, we have to be
very careful to dictate the solution to others.

It is why I came to cc to share, and learn in the things of the Lord with people desiring to know
more of His word. And praise the Lord, it has changed me. You can learn more about your own
weaknesses from your enemy, because they will find the weakest point you have, because there
you need to strengthen and establish your position.

dc - it is saddening to us that you are so hard hearted and defensive, avoiding simple truths.
I have met many like you, determined to stay in one place and fight so very hard. Then some
personal tragedy strikes and they flip, to another position which they will defend just as strongly.

It is because that is their personality, and the way they identify themselves. They are always on
a mission to fight the "evil" people. But in this is also their greatest weakness. Dedication for
their own personality gain. Why do you think being a marine, carrying guns all the time, matters
so much?

We are people of peace, not war, yet the message wanting to be spread is how tough
and courageous in mortal combat some people are, and how dare you question someone who has
put their lives on the line and blown others away?

So many get caught in ptsd, because in war there are no winners, just damaged souls.
I wonder if there is a coincidence two of the biggest talkers here have a military active service
background? Serving teaches goals, objectives and putting things on the line. But not why and
how they are achieved and the dangers that flow into civilian life.

And what one does as a teenager and in ones twenties is often driven by youthful ambition, not
the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

I noticed that too. And I know you're being polite when you say 'talkers'. And it isn't just the fact that they have military backgrounds but that they make sure the rest of us know it. That always tells me a lot about a person.

Thank you for your service (and I mean that) but let's leave it that, okay? We were paid for our service, let's move on.

Save me the search, did anyone come up with the verse or passage that says my trust in Jesus is actually me trying to save myself? Unlike the demons, I'm trusting in the blood of Jesus. Surely there is something in the Bible that says if I hold fast to my trust in Jesus in accordance with the Bible's exhortations and warnings to do so that I'm actually trying to earn my own salvation, right? Post it, or direct me to the post where someone has shared it.

I was just pondering.. can a frontline soldier that may have to take enemy life be a child of GOD at the same time? Because the New Testament teaches us to pray for those that despise us and to love our enemies..

i see people reach reach for the Old Testament to justify themselves yet shout Pharisee at those that believe we are to Keep GOD's Law through Faith in the Messiah.

my belief is no.. for if all are condemned and in unbelief then how can we judge who we are permitted to kill to protect our nation? Should our Loyalty be to GOD before country? I believe so.

I don't understand what Dcon's or anybody else's military background, has to do with whether they're Christian or not.. Pretty sure that IF they did have to kill people during their service, that they did NOT want to nor did they enjoy it.. All military service people know that they may possibly have to kill people, when they enlist. That does not mean they hate the enemy, or do not pray for them. It simply means they're doing what they have to, to protect themselves and their countrymen..

But to question their Christianity, and to judge them by whether or not they announce that they're military, is just ridiculous and presumptuous.. JMO

The military is really just our international police force. I'm of the opinion that it's okay to take dangerous people off the streets with deadly force whether it's right here at home in my neighborhood, or in a foreign country. People, who if left to themselves, will only kill and destroy. Sometimes the only thing you can do with a criminal or a rapist or a murderer is kill them to protect the rest of us. That's what you do with dangerous, unreasoning 'animals'....you kill them.

"But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed..." (2 Peter 2:12 NASB)

I wish someone had gotten to the Vegas killer and killed him before he killed so many. The harsh reality of life is that is what we sometimes have to do: Kill someone before they hurt others. That's what our police and armed forces are for.

Sooo, if someone broke into your home, and attacked you or a family member, you wouldn't grab a weapon of some sort to defend yourself? You'd just let yourself get raped, robbed and killed? If someone breaks into a person's home, the homeowner has the right to use deadly force if necessary. I'm not saying to kill them, but at least try to wound them. People like that should expect to get shot if they break into someone's home..

You mean their growth in Christianity. And, yes, it does matter. John talks about the boasting of what one has and does (1 John 2 somewhere?).

I recently saw a documentary about WWII. A vet said none of us thought we were heroes. That attitude is gone from our society today.

I find it very distasteful to say the least when Christians make sharing the Bible like boot camp. They charge at you with angry, raised voices, hands firmly clasped over their ears. That's fine for the military, but it has NO place whatsoever in the church. NONE. Paul exhorted us to make our gentleness evident to all (1 Thessalonians somewhere?).

Maybe she would.....and she would die a martyrs death perhaps, depending on the circumstances. But that's her choice. But the military and police are in place to summarily execute the out of control slob who does it, with no apologies required.

Martyrs death means someone dies being persecuted for their faith it do not mean dying in hands of a robber.
God has told we can carry sword against robbers.

Is it better give the robber your money if he really needs it well that might be so in some situations indeed

We cannot make hypothesis of every situation it all depends what God expects us to do case by case.

It depends on why you're not resisting your attacker as much as it does on why the person is attacking you.

If I let myself die because I'm extending God's love to that person by not resisting then I will die a martyrs death.
