Many people seem to believe that if they simply rest and do no work on the Sabbath, then they kept it, but there was much more to keeping the Sabbath Day under the Mosaic Covenant, as I pointed out in those verses in post #39084.
Nothing to do with Christians

This actually was one of the biggest sticking points Jesus made.

Over time men had started to make all sort of rules for sabbath that were ungodly.

Sabbath (day or rest) originally was gift given by God to humanity
It was way to ensure we would not exhaust ourselves.

Jesus made this very clear

[SUP]"[/SUP]Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."

We can work on sabbath (if it is needed)
We can go to church on sabbath (if we want to)
We can do all things in sabbath (if we need to)

Lets not start burdening ourselves with the law of the Jews and indeed laws that God himself clarified in Jesus.

Remember...

"For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

I never said YOU were prideful or rude or nasty.. I simply said you remind me of her, for her questions about why we do works, echo yours.

I believe My Lord and Saviour and if that puts me at odds then so be it.. for you did add a lol in your post toward Fran and had no need to speak such things. You see not that it is the Messiah Himself who gives us the to do... you believe Him not and that is your choice. You don't need to try and say I'm prideful, rude and nasty because I may hold fast but I don't hate on folks and mock.. no.. that is not what I do.

The Messiah was giving His New Testament to be shared and recorded for us to receive and Believe.. because if you start dividing the Truth for us or them then where is the Gospel? Where are the words that give Everlasting life that we are to build our house upon? Be careful not to seperate yourself for there is one Everlasting Gospel for all who Believe.
Be careful not to "add" (works) to the Gospel. The Gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16). To believe the Gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation.

The Gospel which Paul preached is not according to man. He did not receive it from man, nor was he taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:11-12)

Then you must not have been here the night she got banned for saying horrendous and awful things to everyone on this thread..then claimed it was all "in fun"..

I must say she was never rude, nasty or had a prideful attitude to me...I found her amusing in ways, and she was respectful to me with her answers to my questions...xox...

I was here, and I felt very sad that night, I saw my sister in Christ hurting, even through the things she said that was not wise...I also prayed to God for her and asked Jesus to heal her her, to comforter her, to restore her, as we should all do if we see our brothers or sisters in Christ Jesus stumbling...xox...

I can not be adding anything if I'm simply relaying the Messiah's Testament.. Now the Birth, Death and Resurrection is in the Gospel along with our instruction from the Lord.

Paul shares the New Testament.. we read His writings which are called epistles and Paul teaches us the New in place of the Old and inspired and filled with the Holy Spirit for sure.. it took time for me to learn that it was people misusing Paul's writing to propose things that were in regard to those under the law trying to make people be circumcised and marry the dead husband rather than continue in Faith being married to the New.. to be under Grace at liberty to live by Faith and not be yoked in bondage..

Paul teaches us to Keep the Commandments of GOD knowing the Faith that worketh by Love by his own experience of being born again of the Holy Spirit... yet they all write of the Same Truth and all affirm and good to learn from.. but first you must read the Messiah's Testament and believe..

Hi TT...I am not lucky I am blessed:)...I can only go by her behaviour to me, and like I said, she was never those things to me the blue said...Despite what went on that night, I learned a lot from what Fran wrote as she put many Scriptures up to what she was explaining and not just using her own judgement against the Word of God, she is still my sister in Christ...xox...

So to those that believe I add we are to be sinless, perfect and righteous and that I add works to our Salvation...

Matthew 5

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Now am I adding or am I believing the Lord?

The Royal Law is given and taught throughout...

And yet you go to fist-a-cuffs if someone says works must accompany salvation. You call them 'workers for', but if you say it, it doesn't mean that.
no he doesnt u misoverstand....... one side says faith+works = salvation.......
other side says faith alone is salvation but that true salvation by faith will bring fruit......... this is the bible position u see.....

Are you talking about the specific Gospel message that Paul received from Christ (Romans 1:16; Galatians 1:11-12; Ephesians 3:1-12) or all the instructions from the Lord in the 4 Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John? What other instructions must we "add" and accomplish to "believing the Gospel" (Romans 1:16) in order to be saved?

Paul shares the New Testament.. we read His writings which are called epistles and Paul teaches us the New in place of the Old and inspired and filled with the Holy Spirit for sure.. it took time for me to learn that it was people misusing Paul's writing to propose things that were in regard to those under the law trying to make people be circumcised and marry the dead husband rather than continue in Faith being married to the New.. to be under Grace at liberty to live by Faith and not be yoked in bondage..
People error by intermingling the Old Covenant with the New Covenant.

The word "keep" comes from the Greek word "tereo" (Strong's #5083) and means to keep, to guard, to watch over, preserve. It does not mean sinless, perfect obedience to the 10 Commandments 100% of the time. We are not sinless, without fault or defect, flawless 100% of the time.

I have read the Messiah's Testament and I BELIEVE IN HIM (John 3:15,16,18) and I also believe everything else He said and taught.

Hi Mailman, not disagreeing with you just want to make sure that I understand what the bible say's about, our day of rest.

When a sinner is born again from above the Holy Spirit "Sanctifies" (made perfect and set apart) the new believer. At that time Jesus becomes our "Sabbath forever more." If this is not correct theology please let me know....nice to meet you.

New Covenant

Matthew12:8 "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Mark2:27 "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath"

Hebrews10:12 "But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God."

Quote: "Jesus was restating the principle that the Sabbath rest was instituted to relieve man of his labors, just as He came to relieve us of our attempting to achieve salvation by our works. We no longer rest for only one day, but forever cease our laboring to attain God’s favor. Jesus is our rest from works now, just as He is the door to heaven, where we will rest in Him forever."

Old Covenant

Deuteronomy5:12-14
Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant."

We are born again of the Holy Spirit.. and the 10 Commandments whether you say Kept or guarded are the base of Loving GOD and each other.. we are to Keep/guard even the least.. Now if the Greek word does not promote a do... then we could not break what we are only guarding.. and once you go down that road you would forever seek meanings.. instead of believing.. for the bar is raised and lusting after a woman is committing adultery... so to guard or Keep is to do or you could not break..

gotquestions.org did a pretty good job of explaining it. Certain people (like SDA's) are absolutely obsessed with keeping the Sabbath Day and it must be on Saturday. I once had an SDA on my mail route tell me that I need to tell my employer that I cannot work on Saturday because it's the Sabbath Day and he even implied to me that if I don't, my salvation is in jeopardy.

You were the lucky one, "rude and insulting" the reason she was banned
if she agreed with you she could be nice,,, If you confronted her and disagreed with her, She was not.

it all depended on how you were.
