“Wasn’t Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord. “I loved Jacob, but Esau I hated. I turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the jackals in the desert.

Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED."
Rom. 2:
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

Now if only you trusted the God of the Bible enough to accept His definition of Evil.

"Jesus never excused the sin, but He always offers salvation without "conditions attached"
Does God want us to "come to him just as we are", what does the bible say?

Invitation to the Thirsty
Isaiah55:1-8

1) “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;

and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2) Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3) Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

my faithful love promised to David.
4) See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a ruler and commander of the peoples.
5) Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”
6) Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7) Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts
.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”

if studyman trusted God's written Word enough to keep reading, in Romans 2 Paul clearly states that gentiles do not have the Law, something he ( and the rest of the judeaizers ) fervently push that they do.

I've heard numerous people (particularly Roman Catholics) quote Romans 2:6-11 in an effort to try and prove that salvation is based on works. If one reads Romans 2:6-11 in isolation from the rest of the book of Romans, then one might conclude that Paul was teaching salvation by works. However, as we read and study these passages of scripture, it's critical to keep in mind that these verses do not describe how one becomes saved, but the way the saved (and unsaved) conduct their lives. These works done are the result of, not the means or basis of receiving eternal life.

So patient continuance in well doing, seeking for glory, honor, and immortality (verse 7) is not set forth as the means of believers procuring eternal life, but is a description of those to whom God does render life eternal.

*Notice that ALL who receive eternal life are described as such, everyone who does good (vs. 10). Good deeds flow from a heart that is saved and evil deeds flow from a heart that is unsaved.

Verse 8 - but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath. Notice that ALL who do not receive eternal life are described as such, everyone who does evil (vs. 9).

What those passages convey is that though our deeds are judged by God, it's not the good deeds themselves which are the basis or means of receiving eternal life, but the type of deeds expose whether our heart was saved, or not. Good deeds done out of faith are the fruit and not the root of salvation.

*If Paul wanted to teach that we are saved by works, then he would have clearly stated that we are saved through faith and works in Ephesians 2:8,9 and that we are justified by faith and works in Romans 5:1 but that is clearly NOT what Paul said. Also see (Romans 4:2-6; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9 etc..).

or read all the way to Romans 3:20 or so, & find out that this, being judged by works, is the very thing we need salvation from.
maybe read through chapter 8 and find out how He has saved us :)

Thank you decon, "dethroning Jesus", is exactly my complaint to Studyman in a previous post which he completely ignored. Studyman refers to our Savior "Jesus Christ", as "The Christ" all of the time and never does he use the name "Jesus", as most believers do. He leaves out the name Jesus, "Name above all Names", rather odd don't ya think.

Hi Studyman, when you say, "The Christ", my first impression is you are referring to "the Messiah" in the same manner as the Prophets of Old would refer to that which was promised from God. It just sounds rather odd and impersonal that you would refer to our "Lord and Savior" as "the Christ." It would be like me calling my dad, the Father, in stead of Abba, or Daddy, "the Christ", sounds distant and impersonal.

Titles or names that we place on our relationships say a lot about how we think of that person, and even now Jesus calls us "His Friends." Just wondering why you would use the personal pronoun, "the Christ.", it seems kind of impersonal to me, thanks.

exactly. notice what Gabriel said was a closed statement. " He shall save His people from their sins "

the Angel did NOT say " He shall teach His people to properly keep the Torah, and if they do, that will save my people from their sins ".

now, the judeaizers wish so bad that was said, but it was not.......

I hear ya....and that salvation is INSTANTLY given upon belief and is spoken of in ALL three tenses......and the PERFECT TENSE VERB totally slams this false salvation that is peddled by these guys when they say...

a. It can be lost
b. It is not given until the end

BOTH a and b are false.....!

Matthew 13:24-30 The Parable of the Weeds Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

FUNNY THING...MOST churches teach an imminent return of Christ and badda bing the saved are snatched then GOD begins to deal with the people on the planet......

An interesting point that alludes many...especially those who peddle the imminent return of Christ.....who does GOD begin to deal with first? NOW consider how many LOST people are KILLED during the first 7 seals, 7 trumps..................AT the LAST trump PAUL said........anyway....back to the regularly scheduled programming of salvation by grace through faith.........

You did not read what I said was necessary for you to understand, did you?

Jewish Believers UNDERSTOOD, you do not really BELIEVE, until You can PUT YOUR WHOLE TRUST IN WHAT YOU CLAIMED TO BELIEVE.

English is a POOR LANGUAGE TO TRANSLATE THE BIBLE INTO, because the English word for Believe, is to intellectually agree that something is true.

It is with the HEART YOU GENUINELY BELIEVE, not with the human brain.

You want to move a MOUNTAIN of SIN, you can do that, IF you can BELIEVE in the HEART (human spirit) that JESUS IS YOUR PERSONAL LORD, meaning MASTER. This is the MOUNTAIN that HE IS TALKING ABOUT HERE. AND the HEART is where the Human Spirit is, and the HOLY SPIRIT DWELLS.

Mark 11:23 (HCSB)
23 I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

Acts 8:37 (NASB)
37 [And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."]

Romans 10:9 (CSBBible)
9 If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart [human spirit] that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:8 (HCSB)
8 On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim:

1 Timothy 1:5 (HCSB)
5 Now the goal of our instruction is love ⌊that comes⌋ from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.

2 Timothy 2:22 (CSBBible)
22 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

Hebrews 10:22 (HCSB)
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled ⌊clean⌋ from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.

Now this next VERSE comes from the Apocrypha so I will not call it Holy Scripture, BUT IT SAYS IT SO PLAINLY even you should be able to Understand it.

Tobit 1:12 (NJB)
12 And because I had kept faith with my God with my whole heart,

You are Leaving Out all the verses with the HEART you Believe, in your supposed definition of "I BELIEVE". Jewish Believers do not leave out that BELIEVING IS PART OF YOUR HUMAN SPIRIT, OR HEART.

The Rocky Soil and Thorn Infested Soil only believed with what lies between their EARS, and even the DEMONS can believe like THAT. The FACT that those two soils FELL AWAY, only VALIDATES that they only believed in their HEADS, and NOT WITH THEIR HEART.
Believing ONLY in your brain, is NOT what a Jew like JESUS meant by :

John 7:38 (HCSB)
38 The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”

HE MEANS YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART OR HUMAN SPIRIT.

Have you not ever heard the expression:

The Difference between UNSAVED and SAVED is exactly 18 inches apart.
The exact distance between the Human Brain and the Human Heart.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I have a question for you now. Surely you do not believe that just because a person sits on a Pew every week and recites the memorized Apostles Christ, they are a True Christians, DO YOU?

The reason I asked, is I used to think so, HOWEVER, after three attempts at SUICIDE in 1977, I KNEW I WOULD GO TO HADES/HELL ON THE FOURTH ATTEMPT. I really wanted to die, but something inside me BROKE, and now I think it was the PRIDE of living my life, my own way. I fell on my KNEES as wave after wave of EXTREME GRIEF washed over me and cried like a baby begging HIM to forgive my WHOLE LIFESTYLE, for over an hour or more. I mean I sincerely SURRENDERED to HIM and Gave HIM control of my Life, and KNEW I would NEVER TAKE IT BACK.

That was the NIGHT I WAS SAVED, even tho I took up space on a pew my whole life. Someone should have told me that sitting on a pew did not make me a Christian, any more than sitting in a Garage would make me a Car. That was when I was 29 Years old, and now I am 69 years old, I AM STILL TOTALLY IN AWE AT HOW MUCH HE HAS DONE WITH MY LIFE.

The bible is clear on both issues....

a. God knew I would believe before he cast down the world
b. I was saved the day I confessed Christ as Lord and Savior by grace through faith into his death, burial and resurrection.....

In "B" you say through faith, are you meaning you were given faith as a gift like in 1 Corinthians 12:9 or that you have that faith on your own?

Yes, and I am a Farm Boy, so I can explain that too you.

YES, we KNOW there are people in every Congregation, who think they are Christians, but we can see that they HAVE NEVER BEEN BORN AGAIN. Some of those were sown by the Devil and when they go to Leave, they will try to lure Christians that do not know their BIBLES Like they should, with their False Gospel and False Doctrines. But He said to let them be, and the angels will separate the True Christian from the Phony so-called Christians.

So why do you suppose He want them to be there?

2 Peter 3:9 (NCV)
9 The Lord is not slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to be lost, but he wants all people to change their hearts and lives.

There is our WORD HEARTS (human spirit), YET AGAIN.

Romans 10:17 (HCSB)
17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

So if we leave them their, SOME may become REAL BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS. If you try to PULL the WEEDS OUT, real WHEAT will cling to the weed's root, and you will be throwing some real wheat away when you go to throw the weeds out (that would be their Friends).
So as long as they are NOT disrupting the Service, You leave them their.

One of the choirs on the Farm we had to do, was to walk the field of winter Wheat in the spring to get the Cockle Burs and Sunflowers out of the field. You DID NOT WANT TO PULL THE WEEDS OUT, because every time you pulled the Weeds out, SEVERAL Wheat sprouts would cling to the roots of the Weeds. So we Chopped them Out. With a tool like this, but it is WAY fancier than the one I used.

Do you believe that weeds grow in the same kinds of soil (heart) where the good seeds were sown? If you do, were you saved the moment you believed despite the presence of weeds or do you leave salvation to the hands of our merciful and loving God come judgment day when He will judge the living and the dead?

Revelation 21:7-8 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself.”Ezekiel 3:20-21

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Hebrews 10:36-39
