David

a. Described as a man after God's own heart
b. Writes the Psalms (inspired of God) <--Holy MEN of God penned the word (Peter)
c. Speaks of his salvation in the present tense and the JOY of it being restored (NOT salvation itself)

How would you describe the following works that came from him

a. Too Bathsheba and committed adultery
b. Conspired to cover it up through some scheme and trying to trick Uriah to sleep with with his own wife
c. Signed his death warrant and by order had Uriah CARRY his own death warrant to the front lines where he was killed in battle
d. Numbered his military after he was told it would be evil

You guys need to get over the fact that saved people on occasion have bad fruit or works in their lives, and then grasp that the difference between a believer and a LOST man is that a believer's works will be tried by fire, and then rewarded for what is left and the SIMPLE truth that GOD CHASTENS BELIEVERS when they SIN as evidenced by DAVID'S life AFTER the above.....

The cost.....

Lost first born with Bathsheba <--innocent son of David took his place <---picture of Jesus
Sword in his house all the days of his life
Rebellious son Absalom
Open shame before all Israel
Physical ailments as evidenced by the Psalms

And concerning numbering the military..
Given three options by God to chose from<---pestilence in the land three days

YET not forsaken by God and no loss of salvation....................A man after God's own heart!
GOOD POST!

Praise God for saving us! Can you mention some psalms were David's physical ailments are evidenced in?

Many of these works salvationists make the mistake of counting God out of the equation completely!

Good post...wish you did more of this.

I just want to say that we all sin...
David repented...he was sorry for his sin.

Isn't this the difference between Peter and Judas?

Which one of those sins did David not confess and repent of ?

Be honest.

Is confessing our sin, in order to be forgiven and cleaned considered to be
“Works Based” salvation?

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

After being confronted about it straight up is what i was looking for.

Do you believe we can live in sin and never confess it or repent and remain saved?
FALSE QUESTION! Suggesting there is such a thing as "remaining saved"! I know of no such animal! I believe you are either born again or not! No half-way state! Why would a born again Christian live in sin and not confess and repent? You are taking God out the picture again!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Notice that - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (vs. 9) is IN CONTRAST TO - If we say that we have no sin, (present tense) we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (vs. 8) and - If we say that we have not sinned, (past tense) we make him a liar, and his word is not in us (vs. 10).

Certain people misunderstand 1 John 1:9 to mean that we "must confess each and every sin that we commit as we commit them" (keep a specific inventory) as an "additional requirement" to "remain cleansed" and "if we forget a sin we are toast!" That would be "works based" salvation.

Believers speak the same/acknowledge/agree with God's perspective about their sins and have a settled recognition and ongoing acknowledgment that one is a sinner in need of cleansing and forgiveness.

Ok, so when a sheep becomes lost we are to go after him and confront him so he will repent and be restored back to Christ.

“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. Matthew 18:12-17

Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’

And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

This is how a brother who wanders away from Christ, is to be “found” again.

and now your are back to the lost sheep.

the sheep was still a sheep, even though it was lost.

it did not turn into a goat when it got lost, then turn back into a sheep when it was found.

The difference between Peter and Judas in my opinion: Peter was a believer, Judas was an unbeliever, Jesus said a prayer for Peter, no prayer is recorded for Judas. Peter had godly sorrow, Judas had worldly sorrow!
There is a difference between Godly sorrow and worldly sorrow.
What I don't understand about Judas is this:
He was so sorry for what he did that he killed himself...be it from the tree or from the bridge,,we really can't know.

When he realized what he did to Jesus, he just couldn't live with it.
Could you imagine having a best friend that you shared your life with for 3 years killed because of something you did?

I'm not a determinist in any way, shape or form....
however, I do believe that God is sovereign and He could have chosen special persons for special reasons....Mary, for instance.

I know that Judas HAD to betray Jesus...Jesus said it would have been better had he never been born because of the reputation he'd have to bear all throughout history and also because of the abandonment he'd feel (from God and the other Apostles).

However, he also went freely to the Sanhedrin...or did he?
We can't know everything about God.

But that God is deterministic should not be accepted.
It would mean that God caused the holocaust...
He caused all the murders that happened yesterday...
He causes sin and floods and hurricanes, etc.

This cannot be true of a loving God.

the Sheep can never be lost!

proof of eternal security 100% irrefutable:

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I highlighted the word "I know them" because Jesus KNOWS the sheep. Now this proves sheep will always be sheep:

Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

There Jesus casts folks into hell and He NEVER knew them, not used to know them but the sheep evolutionized into goats! Those who are sent to hell there were never saved cause "I NEVER knew you"

If its a sheep, the Lord will lead it to green pastures! the Lord is the best shepherd in the world! NOT ONE SHEEP LEFT BEHIND!

What's this about sheep turning into goats?
I keep hearing this....

Jesus divided the sheep from the goats.
How does a sheep become a goat??

Simple question H,

According to what you've posted above....
To whom does Jesus give eternal life?

Appeal to emotion! do you believe that Paul was a good repentant man when God revealed Himself to him? of course not. That is sovereign God doing work on Paul!

God did not cause the holocaust. Nobody teaches that!

As for causing floods and hurricanes, have you read the Bible? That same loving God you talk about did indeed drown the entire planet, including people ranging from 1 to 100. He did call for the extermination of entire nations, again including all people, sometimes even animals.

So that "a loving God would not" is an appeal to emotion and NOT biblical! The "its the OT" excuse wont work either, read the book of Revelation, it doesnt look like God has changed, because the Lord does NOT change!

All the nations of the earth are as NOTHING before the Lord! I dont believe in humanism. I sit down keep my mouth shut and thank God for saving me from hell!
