Let me state it this way

Just because the KJV translates Hades as hell, doesn’t mean that Hades is hell

I believe that the Bible is infallible, but I do not believe the KJV is an infallible translation.
I understand the lake of fire and Sheol from the newer translations.

Sheol is the storage place for the souls of the dead. It is a place of pain and suffering, it’s a place where the rich man needed water put on his tongue. It’s located in the center of He earth.

The lake of fire is where Sheol is cast into at the end of time.

Where does hell fit into this?

In modern usage, Hell is Gehenna. I was in the process of looking up the etymology of the ENGLISH word Hell when I read this

Remember, Hell is an English word. And IF it is if defined As Gehenna, Hades, the grave, and other thing do, a highly ambiguous one
It appears that the english word Hell comes from Norse mythology. Google etymology of hell

It doesn’t matter, because the word Hell is not in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament, the Greek text of LXX, or the Greek new testament

I know what Gehenna and Hades are. Don’t need to fuss over what an English word serived from Norse mythology means

May be correct, not sure. But you are quoting New Testament, so the correct word is Greek hades. Sheol is Hebrew, in Old Testament

In summation......

We can accurately conclude that Jesus did not go to "hell" being that He clearly stated on the cross "it is finished" everything that needed to be done was accomplished on the cross in terms of payment for sin....... and He told the believing thief next to Him they would be in "Paradise today."
There would be no reason to go there was no one there. Men are not thrown into thr Lake of Fire after Great White Throne Judgment

I think you know what I'm saying. There is only ONE temporary storage area for the dead no matter what name we give it. That place is cast into the lake of fire.

So what is this third place?
Is anyone there now?
Will anyone go there in the future?

What do you think the place of torment was that the rich man was in?
Jesus went there also.

NO Jesus Did not go to Gehenna. You are correct. Remember, Hades is also translated hell

Hell is an old English word that means nether world. That’s it.

What about in Luke 16 Abraham's bosom? Didnt Jesus go there and take the OT saints with Him? I believe thats the 'hell' 'hades' or whatever Jesus was in. THAT SECTION!

I agree he went to Abraham's bosom for sure no doubt but Jesus went to a place where he felt the pain and suffering and this is what the KJV calls hell... I don't know what modern translation call it, maybe Hades.

Point is that Jesus went to paradise in the center of the earth, he went to a place of torment in the center of the earth also. I believe that the two together are called hell in the KJV. It is the abode of the dead... until Christ came all the dead went there. But when Christ rose from the dead they rose with him and he took them to heaven with him at the ascension. And when we die we don't go to Abraham's bosom, we go to heaven with the Lord and all the Old Testament saints.

So from that time forward, hell is ONLY a place of torment and suffering, there is no longer any people in Abraham's bosom.

He gotcha there bro.

Btw @dcontroversal how do you figure there were that many as 144,000 in the area? Males too. If the total population was less than a million, seems unlikely, assuming 50-50 gender ratios. Also, that was in the first century, 144,000 is happening TOMORROW, later, not THEN. I know you're not a preterist so whats the gimmick here? Never heard anyone say that.

How can the 144,000 happen THEN and be a FUTURE thing as well? Or do you believe its a double prophecy? OR those guys are like resurrected and come back or something? iono. YOU TELL ME!
Ummmm check your numbers bro....the Romans put over 1 million Jews to the sword in 70 A.D.......

This just came to my mind. Hell hath ENLARGED herself. This from Isaiah prophecying of the first coming of Christ and the destruction of Israel. Jesus came, took the Old Testament saints with him, leaving vacancy so to speak for HELL TO ENLARGE HERSELF.

Isa 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Double winner here.....and obvious as for those honest with the text

Revelation contains past, present and future context and is not in chronological order.....!!!

It’s beyond me how someone who reads the Bible could think that God would sacrifice babies. And that’s the reason I remembered him saying that, it threw me for a loop that someone say that.
Dude....liars will burn...Quote me saying GOD SACRIFICED BABIES....or get reported for lying.....I never said God sacrificed babies so Jesus could come.......
