Sometimes a and b can be the case when c is not the case
SURE.....but with the many the verbiage is clear....and the tragic truth....Most so called Christian religions peddle this false gospel in one form or another.........FAITH PLUS for, to gain, to keep or maintain....ALL false

If that's the point he's trying to make then the only thing a person can know is if they AREN'T a partaker of Christ, because if holding fast to the very end is how and when you know you ARE a partaker of Christ then you can't know that until you get to the end. I'm confident that's not what he's trying to stress.

The point is not whether you were really a true believer to begin with, or not. The point is, you are not a partaker of Christ if you fall away. Only people who believe are partakers of Christ. The person who once believed but fell away is not a partaker of Christ (anymore), and the fake believer who falls away is not a partaker of Christ either.
I know for certain, without a doubt, I am saved.

The verse says “ we have been made partakers...” isn’t that speaking of something that happened in the past?

AMEN.....Perfect tense and Aorist tense Greek verbs.....a present continuing result from a past completed action.....emphasis upon the COMPLETED action.....with the present continuing result being the same....

Was saved
AM saved
CONTINUING to be saved

ALL by our past completed action of faith <---The same faith JESUS begins, finishes and completes in US.....they cannot grasp this truth......

JESUS keeps us BY his POWER through the ABOVE FAITH he initiates, deals in measure, begins, finishes and completes

It is actually very tragic to not grasp these above truths and have that kind of HOPE as described in HEBREWS.....

In one place Paul said..... I KNOW in whom I have believed and am FULLY PERSUADED that he is able to KEEP that which I have committed unto HIM against that DAY.....

The amount of scripture that must be swept under the table, denied, rejected and or TWISTED to believe that ONE can lose it or must maintain it is astronomical.........The hope described in Hebrews is a CONFIDENT EXPECTATION of something GUARANTEED and the bible is clear....

THE GIFTS and CALLING of GOD are irrevocable.....Salvation is one such GIFT and this one is an even deeper truth.....EVEN THE CALL (SINGULAR) of GOD is irrevocable....HE is so true and faithful to his promises that EVEN HIS call to salvation is irrevocable REGARDLESS of the person's response to it......chew on that a bit.

Yes. The faith that Jesus gives us does not die and neither does the life He gives us. He begins, maintains, and finishes the work of grace

We respond to God’s call by the faith that He begins in us, correct? And then that call is irrevocable because He is the one who completes the work he began in us, correct?

The bible states that the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable........

When GOD calls one to salvation even the very call of GOD is irrevocable.....meaning HE does NOT void the call regardless of one's response to it......the same is true with the gifts that GOD gives to men...SALVATION is one such GIFT.....HE GIVES IT and then DOES NOT TAKE IT BACK or AWAY from us......the King James translates it to be repented of.....BOILED DOWN.....GOD does not CHANGE HIS MIND over his calling and or gift of salvation.....ONCE he OFFERS the CALLING to SALVATION and the GIFT of salvation, both remain on the table and will NOT be yanked away from us.

ametamelétos: not repented of
Original Word: ἀμεταμέλητος, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: ametamelétos
Phonetic Spelling: (am-et-am-el'-ay-tos)
Definition: not repented of
Usage: not to be repented of, about which no change of mind can take place, not affected by change of mind.

NO....the word means NO change of MIND....in other words BOTH the CALLING to salvation and the GIFT of salvation will never be yanked away....I.E....WHEN one is convicted and being called to salvation.....that CALL is irrevocable.....God does not change his mind.....the offer remains on the table until the person either believes and or dies lost because they rejected the call to salvation.

Ok, understood. But in context that verse is talking about the Israelites ( see preceding verses)
YEP........and in a book written to a church....and note.....
Jew or Gentile regardless....the word CALL is singular and applied to BOTH.....and to take a step further...there is NEITHER JEW nor GENTILE, but rather the two have BECOME ONE and they are a NEW creation in Christ JESUS

and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

Sorry, I deleted earlier post before I read this because I did not want to split hairs

There is no distinction between Jew and Gentile in the body of Christ, correct. But in Gods dealings, it is said that God is saving the Gentiles with the intent of turning that into the salvation of the Jews. (Verse 31).

And the irrevocable gift and calling was the fact that they were beloved on account of the Fathers. Verse 28. Just as the church is beloved on account of Jesus

God will fulfill every promise and covenant He ever made. The New Covenant was not plan b. It is the perfect culmination and fulfilling of the unchanging purpose of God.

God hardened natural Israel, and the result was the salvation of the Gentiles... with the intent of saving Jews through the mercy shown to Gentiles. Romans 11: 31

But we are away off topic now

No need to apologise migo....and the use of Israel in Romans is as an example to the church that was meeting at ROME......regardless of Israel of old and or us in the New Covenant time frame....for both...his call and gifts are irrevocable IMV.....

it's all good and keep firing away migo

I know for certain, without a doubt, I am saved.
Me too.
I know because I am trusting in Christ's ministry in heaven to intercede on my behalf. God said if I do that I am saved by that ministry.
And my life shows that I am trusting in Christ's ministry for salvation. I'm growing up into the image and likeness of my Father in heaven.

The verse says “ we have been made partakers...” isn’t that speaking of something that happened in the past?
Yes, past and present.
As long as you are trusting in Christ's sacrifice and ministry in heaven you are saved and will remain saved.

Yes. The faith that Jesus gives us does not die...
What God has shown us to be true about Jesus can be choked out by other things and can cause us to waver in our belief and trust in Christ. That's why our trust in God needs regular maintenance. It will die if we do not seek encouragement to keep believing.

Hebrews 3:12-13 NAS
Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. 13But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened (to unbelief) by the deceitfulness of sin.

...and neither does the life He gives us. He begins, maintains, and finishes the work of grace
Which is why we should not lose confidence in what we have received and continue to believe.

Because He is faithful to keep His promise we should keep our confidence in Him and not put it in something else.

Hebrews 10:23 NAS
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
