You mean "conviction" of the Holy Spirit about your sins and need to repent, right?

If you dont feel the need to follow God and do good works for His glory...,,you might not be an adopted child of God

However we become children of God because of what Jesus did and His love and mercy.

We don't earn or deserve it.
..that should make us humble and willing to forgive others even when they don't deserve it.
.it helps us love others even if they hate us.
yes yes and yes or am i wrong on the last count ?

LOL, I love the pic :) I think repentance is an act of faith.

An example of a work is bringing soup to a neighbor when they are sick. Good for the neighbor. (Good work)

But why are you bringing the soup to the neighbor? is it so he sees you as good, or so that he might owe you something, or is it out of genuine love and a concern for the neighbors current condition that requires nothing in return?

Neither one sends you to heaven or condemns you to hell. But it is a good work none the less.

One might be of God, the others are definitely of man. (The difference between living in the spirit or the flesh).

You see a non believer could bring soup to a neighbor out of love and expect nothing in return also, but does a non believer have Christ, no, and won't end up in heaven as a result of that.

And a saved person ( you, me and most on CC ) could bring the soup wanting something in return (sin/flesh). Yet they/we know Christ and are still going to heaven.

It's all about whether we believe then know Christ through accepting forgiveness of sins and then receiving the free gift of the Holy Spirit then the new life begins and He works in and through us :)

I went off a bit there Jimbo, sorry. I can get carried away.
i cant agree on this i believe the one who get handed over to the son are a new life. sin is something we no longer do,,,,we get stung by wasps yeah we get angry we sin.

its a question do we repent and not do that sin no more ?

i would vote yes when i get a new body..:)

A car can run or not run.. how do you gauge the speed if it is? The speedometer.. likewise.. how can someone know if they are of the faith? Works produced... Glossing over works as a visual helps no one
How many...1, 5, 20......??

A cup of cold water in the name of JESUS will not go unnoticed and or unrewarded.....only 1 piece of fruit is required to KNOW the tree.....no one is saying works will not be evidenced...the contention is...DO works SAVE or KEEP SAVE and the answer is NO.........the works or fruit are the RESULT OF not FOR....

SAVED (past tense) UNTO good works (EPHESIANS)
not
SAVED BY GOOD WORKS.........<---the OX before the CART.....IMPOSSIBLE

We can learn to overcome sin even in this body but we aren't all knowing and may still unknowingly sin or even fail and be tempted into sin we should know better.

When we sin,the Holy spirit convicts us..we either reject and be punished or accept and learn to overcome.

We are Saints that sin.
We are saints that are washed in the blood of Christ and seek to reflect His light and love in a dark world.

We are not our sins and we should always seek not to sin.
.however if God convicts us of sin, we should repent and learn how to overcome.

The being washed in the blood of Christ and learning to overcome is what makes us Saints.both accomplished by the grace of God as we walk with His holy spirit.

The words saint and elect are both applied unto the saved and with two different applications....

Saint is descriptive of who we are in Christ as HOLY
Elect is descriptive of who we are in Christ as Chosen

thats why religion is so dangerous.

It sounds good, It feels good. It looks like the truth, It sounds like the truth, It looks Godly, Yet it is rejected by God as mere bloody rags.

In a strongh attempt to please God so many instead offend God with their self righteous things. Its no wonder they get sod mad when they are told they are wrong. Their whole life and philosophy is based of those root things, if the root is bad, the whole of it is bad..
AMEN to this and I will add.....those who teach contrary concerning salvation will include just enough truth to make their gospel seem legit....recently a post was started by a worker for...and of course the 1st couple of verses were left off which set the context...without them it could easily be twisted into an Aunt Annie's pretzel gospel of heteros with no power to save.....such is the Modus Operandi of many.......same with false religion like you have stated......

Old covenant laws are very heavy,
AMEN...impossible to bear.....break the least of them and you are guilty of the whole....Romans 3 is clear...the entire world is guilty before GOD and exactly why we need the grace and faith afforded in Christ.......

In addition I believe as we walk with God we start to sin less.
I believe God's priority is relationship with us and as we walk and listen we learn, He starts to reveal truth. He is merciful.
I trust that Christ overcame sin by forgiveness at the cross and our new life in Christ is His true desire.
I beleive He no longer holds our sin against us, He overcame, I don't focus on the sin issue, as it was resolved by the finished work of the cross.
Now I can walk with him and embrace His full love for me through the Holy Spirit. He sees me righteous because of Christ.
That is the peace and rest I have entered into. Praise God.

Amen.... Paul always says "Grace and Peace" the two go together.

This is the place where all striving ceases we should indeed praise Him!!

PAUL was addressing the church located in ROME "GENTILES" and was the apostle unto the GENTILES..........not Jerusalem......
dc - you remind me of the problem of love verses dominance. It is always harder to
have friends and understand people than reject and harden your heart towards others.

Jesus calls us to love our brothers and sisters and even our enemies, no matter how you
paint them. It takes time, effort, listening and patience.

Now how much do I need to do to understand where you are coming from?
Now as a friend who is open to trust the Lord on your terms, it is easy. So you would tell
me.

Now if I say I already know and walk with the Lord, in His grace, love and forgiveness, with
the Holy Spirit shinning His light unto my feet, you would tell me I know nothing and it is
impossible for me to understand or see the great wisdom you have.

Now let us be really honest, not this emotional play positions. It is either simple and easy,
or I do not know what you are saying. It cannot be both else you are just being deceptive
and manipulative, talking not about truth but about your emotional acceptance of an individual
or a total rejection.

And that is my point. My friend, this is not about truth but about your "friends" and "enemies"
which is totally emotionally charged.

This world is so alien to me, because unbelievers are people I understand and get alongside as
much as believers, because I see their hearts, their struggles, the things they hope for and the
things that fade away very quickly in the future, so I can be a friend one moment and the next
be thrown out of the house for not understanding how they are feeling. ( actually happened )

Until you can see I am just a humble follower of Jesus and what He has done in my life, you miss
it all. I feel your hurt and history, your desire to stand against the scourge of legalism that deceived
the world, and I know hard hearted judgementalistic people, but the problem is not legalism but the
last of love, the lack of a heart of flesh, beating as one with Jesus and humbled before the cross and
forgiveness which He has poured out to us. But you do not see this, but still I will share it.

I do not know why you paint me evil, or whatever things you project onto me, because I am not your
past or your nice boxed individual. Until you give up judgementalism and just take people as they are,
the love and openness they share, and that is a blessing, you miss Jesus. This is all He asks us to be,
lights of His love in a dark work, not resisting the evil but shinning as lights of Gods goodness and grace.

I see this stronger than ever, and see how social change, inspiration is rooted and grounded in the
cross.

Halleluyah to the Lord Jesus Christ and His work in us to His glory, Amen.

We are Saints that sin.
There is a sense of this statement that implies sin is impossible to be free from.
When you describe a cyclist do you say they are a cyclist who falls off occasionally.

No because ofcourse this is always a risk but not inevitable.

Love never accepts evil as inevitable, "It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
1 cor 13:7

The more humbled I become the more I see it is love that defines us and evil and sin diminshes
in its hold in our lives. This is a walk of faith, and knowing His Spirit. Why should we respond
in a bad way to anything. One does not work like a legalist, one searches to reach out and
embrace people where they are, and meet the needs that present themselves.

When people say we should be love aware and not sin aware, it should be we are seeking to
express the love of Christ that He has put their, and not live in fear of failure but declare boldly
the victory over sin and death which the cross has given us, Amen.
