Actually, I did grade 12 algebra at 7 and my math is good....if you teach you can lose it then SOMETHING must be done to KEEP IT or EARN IT BACK.....regardless Ariel...that is a WORKS based salvation and PAUL covers this in GALATIANS

Not HARDLY...they are eternally tied together, there is but one gospel......not 2 or more
I was crap at algebra and math at school.

Beleive it or not I'm qualified as an accountant and now work as a Finance Director.

When I was expelled from school the head of year told me I would amount to nothing and would be a bum because I didn't work hard.

He had no idea what was going on behind the closed doors of my life and trust me it was shocking.

So I did a business study course and found that I clicked with accountancy.
I worked hard and harder. The reason being is because I wanted to prove him wrong and me right.
I used to think to myself "I am going back to see him and tell him "Yes I'm a bum but a professional bum who earns 3 times more than you"

I never did it but I realised that I was actually working to prove myself, that I'm not actually a bum and I will show you.

Ring any bells?

I actually thank God because even with that attitude he has used my skills to help quite a few beleivers whom have been in a dire financial mess and I've never asked for a penny.

Im not telling anyone this to make me look good (trust me I know my heart and nothing is good about it)

What I'm trying to say is that my focus was wrong, I will work to prove it to you.
If work to prove then I am trying to prove something "It's all about what I have done to prove myself"

Not sure I've made my point but gonna click post quick reply and hope I make some sense.

I have had enough discussion to know that Peter doesn't believe that you have to have works to gain salvation.

He does believe folks can lose their salvation but I don't think it's due to not having works but he does say the lack of fruit is a warning sign.

Don't know what Stephen believes...I do know what he is against: easy believism.

The folks who I believe teach works salvation actually avoid this thread most of the time.

You need to read some more.. Or else we are reading two different things.

for 1. Peter makes it clear. he does not think the cross is enough.. Well one must ask. If the cross 9work of God) is not enough. What must be added? but the works of men.

Sorry Dcon...but your math doesn't work.

The reason we are saved is because God has worked in our lives...,we are told that we will show signs in our lives that God has done these things.

However I am not ready to label anyone who doesn't understand the doctrine of eternal security as teaching works salvation.

It seems to conflate the two issues and confuses things.
Again, I am confused.

if one does not believe in eternal security, they must believe in conditional security. What else is there?

My points were valid.....a gospel that believes you can lose it results in salvation based upon what you do or don't do.....that is a works based false doctrine...no matter how it is sliced and diced.....

Ive said this a thousand times noe we are saved and can be saved until the end but our salvation hasnt been given yet only are saving are eternal life hasnt been declared until we meet our maker... but you can bet that it is a done deal for some but not everyone...

Only the ones who have been handed over to the son have eternal life as it stands but even them people havent been told that directly yet... which is your crown the one your suppose to hope for...
1 John 5: [SUP]11 [/SUP]And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [SUP]12 [/SUP]He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. [SUP]13 [/SUP]These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life,[SUP][d][/SUP] and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Do we listen to you, who appears to lack faith, or listen to the apostle John, Who proclaims that the knowledge that we HAVE (present tense) Eternal life as a possession, is the means to continue to remain in faith?

I think I will chose John.. I pray that does not offend you. if it does. please forgive me.

I see it this way.

1. You either have faith in God to complete what he started, and fulfill all his promises to you,

2. or you do not have faith God can do this, making yourself more powerful than God, one who can prevent God from doing what he PROMISED to do..

I agree.....Jesus said HE would FINISH what he started......if we can lose salvation then either Jesus is too weak or cannot keep his word....

For the record.....JESUS is GOD and WILL finish what he started and keep his promises........

amen,, how can we even begin to understand what "come to Me and I will give you rest" means if we do not understand this basic theological concept of the gospel.

The funny thing (sic) is that NO one pays attention to the fact that we all say a believer will bear fruit or have at least 1 work which proves faith.......We both teach that and yet they accuse us of saying we do not have to do anything, live anyway we want, sin like the el diablo...the bible is clear...

SAVED unto works

NOT

SAVED by works

it is by faith and faith alone period.......

I think the problem is to many people do not understand what it means to "be like Jesus"

I remember one time someone asked, what will heaven be like. the pastor said it will be like being in church every day all day.. That turned many people off. Because again, Most people think church is supposed to be this staged "worship" service, and not a body of people having a relationship with God first, and each other..

Because he alone is worthy and only him.

As for me I'm thankful he is and also because HE wants me to share in his glory.

Its their fallback.

they demand works are required. (yet deny it when confronted) so they must think we believe work is not necessary, we can say a prayer and live like the heathen.

Which is part of the delusion I believe Satan has used to blind them.
