What if it's a person's proclivity to reject it, that they need to be saved from?
John
3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

We need to tell men this. The ball is then in their court. They can humbly confess it's truth, or they can reject it and go to hell. We can only do so much, and then it is between them and their Maker. (Unless they are one of those lucky-dog Calvinists who are born with everything preset on automatic-in.)

Back during the first two years of being Saved, ABOUT 1979 or 80, I once heard a person say, ''I don't want a little shack out back on the Crystal River, I want the biggest, fanciest Mansion on the Street of GOD." That statement seemed so wrong to me. I instantly pray, "Lord, I will gladly take that little shack out back on the bend in the River, because I just want to be there with You." When I first saw this Picture, it pulled out of me, the statement, "Honey, I am HOME!"

You see it is not secret, but my wife, the Lord called her home to heaven 6 years ago. And I still miss her.

Even at her funeral, I told everyone I know where my Wife is, and she is listening to JESUS right now.

I will be home, in a little while.

You fellows always fall back on this.(You kind of have to so you can prop up your three legged dog:()
Yes, this is their popular circular argument that I have already raised somewhere in this thread.

You are saved by faith alone apart from works
But if there are no works after that, then your faith is dead and you are not really saved.

PHONEMAN'S PATENTED EASY 3 STEP OSAS DELUSION CURE:
1) Read Matthew 24:12-13 KJV where the people kill their agape "cold" and dead through practicing "iniquity", which leaves them unable to "endure unto the end" and be saved.

2) Understand God only imparts "agape" to grace-saved, born again Saints.

3) Conclude Jesus is talking about grace-saved, born again Saints and burn your OSAS License to Sin.

Except what you seem to be implying is close to perfectionism. Where then is the dividing line where you fell from his commands to far since all sin?
John talks about our heart condemning us or not condemning us, which obviously refers to the conscience. It is through the conscience that Christians know the difference between sins that we fall down into and the ones we climb down into.

The ones into which we fall and sorrowfully take the hand of Jesus and rise up are covered by His blood...the ones we climb down into, get comfortable, swat away the uplifting hand of Jesus, and shove our OSAS License to Sin card in His face are the ones that will condemn the Christian unless he repents. :)

There we go again:rolleyes:

But but but but they must not have been saved in the first place?

It gets easier once you shed your Calvinistic flubber.
I gave you a whole 'lotta scriptures there in the link, pal. It's really these you gainsay, not me or some other man.

Yet for you it have to be you who makes the difference in the equation. Are you by any chance methodist?

You have to understand that, under the gospel of the kingdom, or the gospel of the circumcision, salvation and rewards go together. So yes, your first paragraph is correct.

What Jesus shared in the parables of the kingdom, such as those in the latter half of Matthew, all indicated that. The clearest of course is the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25:31-46, but there are also parable of the talents too.

So when John wrote 1 John, he is writing to the circumcised, as agreed in Galatians 2:9.

But under the gospel of the uncircumcision, or the gospel of the grace of God which Paul preach to us, salvation and rewards are delinked. Salvation is a free gift, but rewards must be earned. That is what Paul was trying to explain in 1 Cor 3

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

So long as one is able to rightly divide the word of truth, he will understand that rewards are based on building on the proper foundation, which is the foundation Paul laid for us in the Body of Christ.

We in the Body of Christ will also be able to read passages in 1 John 2:3-4, and understand them literally.
There's only ONE Gospel, and it's called "the Everlasting Gospel" which is known by other names but is still the same.

How can their be a "Gospel to the Circumcision" if "circumcision is nothing, uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God (is what matters)"???

Romans 6:16 KJV most definitely says works MUST follow salvation:

"Know ye not to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness?"

Does that sound like obedience is optional?
