8) Scripture teaches that behavior is an important test of faith. Obedience is evidence that one’s faith is genuine (1 John 2:3). If a person remains unwilling to obey Christ, he provides evidence that his “faith” is in name only (1 John 2:4). A person may claim Jesus as Savior and pretend to obey for a while, but, if there is no heart change, his true nature will eventually manifest itself. This was the case for Judas Iscariot.

9) Genuine believers may stumble and fall, but they will persevere in the faith (1 Corinthians 1:8). This was the case for Simon Peter. A “believer” who completely turns away from the Lord plainly shows that he was never born again to begin with (1 John 2:19).

Let's not forget that genuine believers can fall away, & eventually lose everything.

That was the purpose of the parable of the fig tree.
Which one?

Because I had said something, or refused to do something she wanted.
Have you never experienced a temper tantrum of a youngster?

Sometimes kids will lie on the floor and just let it rip because they want their
way and they will let everyone know?

Now for those who repress and believe any display of anger is evil, me saying this
is the worst crime everrrrrr. But it is not.

And my kids are the most social well balanced people you could imagine.
This 6 year old is now a student physio therapist who can reach out and help
people is places that would break my heart.

We talked about this a few days ago, and she related a situation when a child she
was holding scratched her with all their might, and she reacted instinctively to push
the child away and then checked this to keep the child safe and slowly put them
down. This waring of reactions and feelings is powerful stuff when you have control,
and is such freedom to know you love despite difficulties.

I do it as an adult:cool:

When my kids were younger they would have meltdowns at home they never had in public. I told it as them letting out their frustrations in a safe environment and sometimes when kids push you away, is when they need you most to pull them close and tell them you still love them despite their behavior.

However, when a kid tells me they "hate" their parents, I always wonder why.

I think it's important to teach kids to examine their hearts.

I don't know if my kids actually hit me and I asked them if they meant what they said..if they actually wanted me to die or leave them....they would repent and say "no we love you mom"

It's part of teaching our kids to tame their tongues and change their hearts to reflect God's glory and not indulge in the flesh.

Temper tantrums happen, but we should not smile and encourage them.

We should encourage kids to express their emotions in less destructive ways,
"repent" - this is a very advanced term for this situation.
I would say talking through why they felt like that and then understanding it was just
a mood or feeling, and to learn to recognise it and give oneself space.

So it is up to them how they express their feelings, but they know if it is inappropriate
there is trouble, with intervention to stop it going wrong. I left it up to them to sort
out what they did, and to work it through. If they got angry, they knew I would get
angry too. It was never a victim situation, they gained nothing by using the emotion like
a weapon, it was just bounced back at them. This way they learnt what it felt like,
which is often what kids miss in growing up, because others just back off, so it becomes
a kind of bullying.

A home where you can learn how you feel, express it and safely feel it returned, is such
an education. I have seen victim parents, and the kids end up with no respect for them
because they see it as they are walking all over them.

By the way, I found my daughter having a rage very funny.

It was because of some unknown trigger, but being in a safe place where
you can learn the limits of these feelings is very healthy.

Our emotional lives are odd. If you do not let some feelings out, they lie
buried and do a lot of harm in ways you do not understand or know.

I have met many very shy, retiring people who are actually raging piles of
feelings which they never let out, and dominate most of their lives. It is like
having a lion in a cage, and they get very afraid of what might happen if they
let it out, when actually the answer is, just a lot of emotion.

Jesus came to heal us and free us from situations like this so we can really feel
and not be afraid anymore.
I have just had a conversation with my 13 year old daughter.

She has such a lovely gentle spirit and love for others beyond her years.

We had her school report last week. It made my wife and cry.

This made us cry

'Head of year report'

Emma is one of the kindest and most empathetic pupils that I have come acrossduring my time as a teacher. She makes all pupils feel welcome and worthy of hertime and for this she should be highly commended

Now half an hour ago she was texting a friend who is the same age and self harms.
She just loved her and talked with her.

She said what you have said "Jesus came to heal and set you free"

Her friend cried, showed it to her mum and she cried.

Now they want to know more.
It seems that tea Is now on the table.

Jesus was showing that the Jewish system of sacrifice was dead and unfruitful in terms of salvation, for as Paul said, it was impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin. Jesus was entering Jerusalem near to the last week of His earthly ministry and He was preparing to institute the new and better covenant, which meant the old had to pass away. That is why He caused the unfruitful fig tree to wither, for it represented the unfruitfulness of Jewish religion.

What a blessing. Our kids teach us so much about how to freely give and receive love,

And this is why they still attack you and don't flee when you speak.

because you don't truly believe that God has already done what is needed it save you,
.you lack saving faith.

You need to believe and trust in Jesus and the fact He loves you and He wants to save you and He has done what needs to be done.
.all you need is to have faith and trust Him and His love and promises.

What a blessing. Our kids teach us so much about how to freely give and receive love,
And it's so simple but us adults can make it difficult.

Matthew 18:2-5

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

Do you ever stop to consider that what you call attacks are people defending against HIS attacks?

Thank you Magenta...totally agree. I just saw it in Adam and Eves' covering with fig leaves. And the fig tree is the national symbol of Israel. No longer will men cover themselves by their own "work" of obedience. But, of His. So he cursed it.

I wasn't sure which Stephen was speaking about. Wasn't it a fig tree too that the owner had those to dig around it and see if life would come?

Might be the same reason.

Nah Peter, my kids know if mom's not happy they aren't gonna have a good day.

But I also teach them that forgiveness is easily obtained and believe they should understand repentance.., we have to help train their minds to think as God wants us to think: love and concern of others, not selfishness.

the source of all evil will run the last picture show - that's why we see so much mass devastation
in the wake of man's pride...the curse of the false churches are evidence that they search out
their victims, one-by-one...

does anyone now-a-days believe in corrective humiliation?
is it even understood?

we must always try our best to be good recruits, glorifying God with our actions,
this will always bring to us His inner-peace...but, Loyalty/Obedience is definitely required...

But people that believe they cannot abstain from sin,and sin does not affect their relationship with God,has God begun a good work in them, for many are called, but few are chosen, and no person calls Jesus Lord but by the Holy Ghost, and not everyone that says Lord,Lord, will be able to dwell with Jesus, and they have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.

Everybody that claims Christ as Lord can only do so by the Holy Ghost, and many are called, but has God begun a good work in them for them to be chosen.

Everybody that claims the Bible believes what they believe is the way to salvation, but did God begin a good work in them to start, for many are called, but few are chosen.

Do you sin....yes or no?.....this farce put forth by you and your cohorts denies ALL the scripture that deals with this issue....You guys compartmentalize and quantify sins into neat little boxes and then push this sinless farce that the bible does not teach....while making this idiotic argument (bolded above) when ANYONE makes a stance on ALL the verses that deal with this issue....You sweep under the rug statements made by Jesus, John, Paul, Daniel etc.....

The bible is clear.....We can suppress sin, quit particular sins and walk righteously before the LORD by his power...HOWEVER WE WILL NOT BE COMPLETELY SINLESS until the day we DIE or get a glorified BODY.....NO MAN can keep from sinning 24/7/365 days a year....ONLY ONE did it and that WAS JESUS...even after BIBLICAL SALVATION men will slip, fail, sin....end of story!

The belt of truth is part of our spiritual armour.., it is sound doctrine..that's what protects us from getting gutted.
