No it is not speaking of Jews who have heard but went back to animal sacrifices, that is a bed rendering of that passage.

Because the proceeding verses in that chapter speak on the first steps in the faith for believers.

Hebrews 10:19-25
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God,

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

These are all steps believers in Christ are to take, and then after taking these steps if you still continue to sin deliberately after all of this there remains no more sacrifice of the Lord that will cover your sins as you are trampling Him under foot.

This is the same thing Apostle Paul said the Galatians who left the gospel of Christ to go to another gospel to be justified by the law. He told them:

Galatians 5:4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

It is Christ sacrifice that has become of no effect to them because they by continuing to live deliberate sinful lives trample Him underfoot, and it says they will stand before God at judgment !!!

Ok, if you won't accept my explanation then let's try this from a different angle.
Define willful sin. Define it completely so that there is no mistake, because your gospel completely hinges on not committing willful sin.

Technically.................that sin is forgiven also. Unbelievers are not judged by their unbelief. they are judged by their DEEDS. Not sins. Not unbelief.

They are judged for their self righteous deeds done in the flesh...........dung,menstrual rags.

New American Standard Bible
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
Technically, you contradict Jesus Christ, who said,

"And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven."

and/or

"Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

Blasphemy of the Spirit was accusing Jesus Christ PERSONALLY, in hypostatic union of doing works through demons rather than the Spirit.

We would not and could not have a "whosoever will" Gospel if the Blasphemy of the Spirit was for us.

Sorry Gr8grace, Magenta is right on this one. I understand what you are saying, but the only reason they are being judged by their deeds is because they don't have belief in Jesus. Hence, the sin of disbelief in Jesus' by all accounts is truly the only sin that matters on an eternal perspective. Remember, Jesus took the sins of the whole world, not just believers. That is not Universalism, thats just Gospel. Of course to attribute that forgiveness to their account, if you will, they need to cash in the check with belief by the drawing of the Holy Spirit.

I think we disagree on what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is... I see it as a continuous denial of Jesus Christ, it is only unpardonable so long as it is being committed. That being, in the state of disbelief and rejection of Jesus Christ and what He accomplished through His death and resurrection.

My understanding is that the blasphemy stands as a refusal to believe God, a refusal to accept the gift of life offered through Jesus, and they then remain in their dead-to-God state, having not been reborn of the Spirit, and pass into death, the second death, following their resurrection at the time of judgement.

Ben, no Big deal. Your a grace believer. Maybe I will change my opinion on this as I grow.

At this time I do believe it is a deeper and more exact rendering of how BIG His grace really is.

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Ken, I was thinking the same thing. I see all sin as willful. In my personal life, as I have matured in Christ, I have become much more sensitive to potential sin in my life, and this makes it much easier to recognize that what something that I'm doing is sin in God's eyes. The Bible says that if I am guilty of one sin, I guilty of them all.

So simple, yet seems impossible for some to see.

I won't push it, but just for thought.......................do you really believe it is ALL sin. Or is there a contingency in there for certain sins He didn't pay for?

And I won't push it any farther. Just do we REALLY believe he paid for ALL sin. I believe He did.

I agree.

I hope I did not come across that way to you, as there was no intention on my part to "lord" it over anyone in expressing my belief on the matter under discussion. I started out knowing next to nothing. I am not trying to say you know next to nothing, though... just that we all start at the foot of the cross, broken sinners knowing only that we are unworthy to receive the free gift offered, and proceed from there. I hope you do not leave just because you realize you have more to learn. I learn a lot in venues like this. :)

So we gotcha? lol :D Admit defeat, haha! Only kidding. It wasn't so much a gotcha moment as we were giving you the verse that was being referenced in regards to the sins of the whole world being paid for. You posted a verse and a rebuttal verse was given. It shouldn't repel you, but give you food for thought.
