To the two blind men who came to Jesus for their miracles, Jesus said, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” And to Jairus, who had just been told that his daughter was dead, Jesus said, “Do not be afraid; only believe” (Mark 5:36).

In the Gospels, we find Jesus encouraging the people who needed His help to only believe in Him. He never asked them, “Have you been deserving or wonderful in your behavior?” He never asked them about their law keeping or performance. He was only interested in whether they believed He would do good to them.

My friend, good character, good behavior and acts of charity are all good, but they cannot earn you favor with God. He doesn’t look at these things to decide if you merit His favor and help.

The good news is that you don’t have to have it all together to receive from God. All you need to do is believe that He blesses you out of the riches of His grace and because of the finished work of His Son, Jesus.

You see, it’s not about what you have done, but what Jesus has done.
So as long as you come to Him depending on His unmerited favor and believing that He is both able and willing, you will receive from Him the miracle you need!

Amen! Faith knowing it isn't what we do or have done but what Jesus has already done. That way, we can ALWAYS come to Him and receive help and favor for everything we are dealing with in life. Issues come up hour by hour each day that call for His help and blessings upon us. (unmerited favor)

Faith even to the degree of being told your child is dead or you are sick in need of healing or the money has run out. Jesus has it covered.

When I used to prepare for His not answering me in time of need and had a back up plan.., something was wrong with my understanding and faith for His promises. There is no back up plan anymore when we place our lives in His hands. That is where He wants us so we can receive from Him.

Jesus taught HEAR AND DO.

Jesus NEVER went around teaching, "trust in what I have done" or "trust in what I will do." Jesus taught HEAR AND DO, STRIVE, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, DIG DEEP, DO WHAT I SAY, COUNT THE COST, LOSE YOUR LIFE, PICK UP YOUR CROSS, DENY YOURSELF AND FOLLOW ME.

The "trust and receive" message is premised on the false substitutional teachings where people think that Jesus swaps places with them. It is a PROVISIONAL false gospel presented as a PACKAGE. One "trusts in and receives the package" and they are then CLOAKED IN THEIR SIN because they swapped places with Jesus. It is a hoax.

James wrote...

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

...yet these wolves will NEVER contend for such. The implanted word (the Word received wholeheartedly within, ie. abiding in the Spirit) can only be received if one first lays apart ALL filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, in other words if one REPENTS.

The dynamic of salvation is "purification through obedience to the truth" ie. yielding wholeheartedly to the grace of God whereby we are quickened unto life.

1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

One cannot undergo such a transformation whilst still in rebellion to God.

Grace is not unmerited favour.

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Grace - charis
From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).

Grace is the divine influence of God upon our hearts freely provided. In order for grace to be effectual unto salvation we have to WORK TOGETHER WITH GOD, ie. yield wholeheartedly to God which is FAITH.

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2Co 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

We are literally made the righteousness of God in Him through working together with God. It is the transformative dynamic of a genuine salvation experience. The wolves will never tell people that because they do not understand it. In fact they will NEVER connect 2Cor 6:1 with 2Cor 5:21. They are the blind leaders of the blind as well as deceiving and being deceived.

Flee the hoax lest you perish in your sins.

No. We are literally made the righteousness of God in Him, by being in Him, through faith in Him.

And yeah, Grace is God's unmerited favor.

We are transformed by beholding Christ. It's His life that changes us not our will-power...self-control is a fruit of the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

The "are being transformed" is in the present passive = which means that it is being done to you - not you doing it.

Christ changes us...not ourselves....as we see who we are in our new creation in Christ...we become outwardly who we already are in Christ. Jesus is the life in us that bears fruit in us. We do not bear fruit on our own.

There are 2 aspects to grace.

1) acceptance grace - which has nothing to do with our behavior - as seen with the woman caught in adultery. Our Lord beautifully says " I do not condemn you".

It is in knowing you are not condemned that releases the other aspect of grace.

2) now, go and sin no more - this is empowering grace. Empowering grace enables you to be who the Father sees you are in Christ now.

The religious mindset says to the woman caught in adultery - 'Do not sin and we will not condemn you." The grace of God and the blood of Jesus speak of better things!

Knowing that we are not condemned in Christ "releases" the life of the empowering grace to transform us. It's all about Christ! It's His fruit being manifested in us!

Acceptance grace which is not based on our behavior needs to be cemented in our hearts before empowering grace is able to be manifested.

What believers in a self-effort/self-performance D.I.Y. holiness/righteousness based gospel have a very hard time with is the "acceptance grace" part...this just drives them nuts...and I understand why..it is scandalous!

Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman,“Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”

11 “No, Lord,” she said.
And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.

Oppps...the rest didn't get posted..sorry..

There are 2 aspects to grace...First thing our loving Lord does is deal with the religious people that wanted to stone her ( notice it said to stone an adultress in the Law )

I hear what you're saying. Good point ... if we as Christians could not find forgiveness for our sins when we fail (and we do fail) in our efforts to follow God's commands .... how could we possibly be encouraged to continue to try?!

I just wanted to complete what Jesus said to that woman because I believe strongly that we must be striving to "sin no more". Many are preaching a gospel of complete complacency that I can't agree with.

MATT 5:48
Jesus said "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

This is the target we should always be aiming for ...

When we are trapped in our sins, only God's grace, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ's death on the cross, and his glorious resurrection, can save us, the sinner must repent of his or her sins. Repentance is the way to mercy, without Jesus on the cross that mercy would not be available.

We must be born again. Born of the holy spirit. After that, we must read the Bible, and pray, attend church, and follow Christ. Jesus told his disciples, those who wanted to worship him, to follow him, to leave what they had and take up their cross like him.

We Christians are required to be light and salt in the world. Our behavior reflects the name and honor of Christ. We must stop sinning after we get saved. I know this is difficult. Practice makes perfect. All Christians should strive to be holy and sin-free. If you have a problem, something in your life that is unholy, unChristian and distracts you from Jesus, take it to the Lord to get free of the problem.

Claiming you 'believe' and you don't have to do anything, still sitting around drinking beer and smoking cigarettes, sleeping with whoever you like that you meet who is willing, driving recklessly and being mean and saying rude and stupid things, using foul profane language, taking the Lord's name in vain. Using dangerous illegal drugs, or marijuana, these things are sins, one cannot behave in such a way and call oneself a Christian.

Christian rest is not complacency nor inactivity, but Christ-activity...God in action accomplishing divine purposes through our own human personality.

2 Peter 1:5-11
"5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

***

LUKE 13 : 22-27
22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’
27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’
