I have said many time counterfeit happens.
Tongues are here and have been.
Can you offer any evidence that some tongues are not counterfeit? Are we to just accept hearsay as proof?

Yes, God's word. Is that hearsay for you? It is a gift of the Holy Spirit.

This is a circular reasoning.

----

Bible talks about the real gift of tongues.

It exists today, because I have it.

I have the real gift of tongues, because Bible talks about it.

----

If the gift of tongues cannot be tested as the real one, it can be all faked, today.

Yes Joaniemarie, you walk in true faith, thank you so much for being here. We indeed walk by faith and not by sight.
That is when He manifests His gifts in response to our faith.
Bless you in Jesus Name

Can you offer any evidence from Scripture that tongues can be counterfeited? Or should I simply accept your HEARSAY as proof? Because I can show plenty of Scripture that teach believers should DESIRE tongues.

"alala ughara lamabada sasahara"

Say this loudly. Now I proved "unknown" tongues can be faked. No need of Scripture for that.

---

I have also seen various youtube videos about tongues where pastor says " fake it".

I have also read several books how to learn to get tongues (when I was a charismatic). Like "start talking, say something, it will come!"

Its a very common practice and if you are honest, you will admit it.

That's not tongues.

I speak in tongues, it's not how you describe it.

Tongues doesn't come from "simply say this...".

It's an expression of the Spirit. That's why it's His gift.

I heard in a teaching recently, "many people will not let truth of the gospel get in the way of what they believe"
you didn't prove anything, in the second line of the post you show how you seek support for what you believe outside of scripture.

Of course that my example are not tongues. I made it up.

The difference is that you actually believe that sounds you make are tongues. You cannot prove it in any way.

Are you honest enough to admit that there are many books, youtube videos etc teaching people how to speak in tongues, i.e. how to fake it?

If you don't speak in tongues that's fine, but who gives you the right to question my tongues, and try to accuse and place doubt in what God has given ME?

How long will you do the work of the enemy?

When you're open to actually understanding how tongues functions according to Scripture I'll answer your questions, but I have no interest in agreeing with a spirit of manipulation.

You spoke a big game here trofimus:

"The main thing I have against pentecostal/charismatic movement is the twisted order of priorities. Their main goals are mostly of the flesh (success, health, wealth, power), against the biblical principles and against the Holy Spirit."

But let's take a look at what the fruit of Spirit looks like:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Notice it's SELF-CONTROL it's not control over other people. It's definitely not accusation. It's not casting doubt. It's not arrogance, it's not causing dissentions (arguments), or discord, and it's also not being in unbelief.

What is YOUR order of priorities in this right now?

I have the right to question everything. Your tongues included.

I am even commanded to test everything. Your tongues included, if you come to public forum and say you have them.

---

Also, I am also very sorry that you are not honest enough to admit that people are actually LEARNING to speak in tongues.

"In the end of this video you will be praying in tongues."

And the miraculous method for this? "Talk something and believe its tongues". Sorry, but this is a fake tongue.

My point was that what is important is the fruits of Spirit, not his lowest gifts like tongues.

I am also afraid that its a "big game" just because its about your belief.

When I talk about evolution, calvinism, KJV or more, its probably not so big game, because you are not involved in such threads... So, its a big game for you.

Now you're saying I'm not honest. Your agenda betrays you with every word you speak. I didn't say people don't teach how to speak in tongues.

There IS a part we play in speaking in tongues.

That's why Scripture says the Spirit is subject to the prophets. And it's also why Paul was able to tell believers to not speak in tongues without an interpreter. If people didn't have a part to play, none of this would be needed.

Once again, you don't understand Scripture, but you sit here and teach like you do. And instead of learning you attack people who are walking in faith. And I have a serious problem with those who cast doubt, and put millstones around the necks of young believers.

Blasphemy of the Spirit is no joke.

If fruit of the Spirit is important to you, how about you stop trying to cast doubt in people? Considering one of the fruit is "faithfulness" and "faith is what pleases God".

Here's how you test every spirit by the way:

1 John 4:2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.

And the one who says the Spirit of God isn't on Earth today is the one functioning under the Antichrist spirit.

Christ = Anointing.

There is many people who like to come against the Anointing of God which is Holy Spirit.

Tongues isn't the lowest gift. Paul says he desires all to speak in tongues, but especially to prophesy. It doesn't take place of prophesy, but I don't see you telling people to seek prophesy like Paul did either.

Your first "fact" is at best a hypothesis. No one knows when tongues ceased and no one has proven that tongues have returned.

For your other facts and questions to have merit, the return of tongues (as was practiced during the 1st century) must be proven.

In other words, unless those who practice "tongues" today can prove what they are doing is the same as the true 1st century tongues then further debate is pointless.
Those who hold a cessationist veiwpoint are NOT asserting that they returned. They are questioning whether they did in fact return. That they were not practiced for 1600 years is empirical and historical fact. During the 19th century 2 or three men started a movement to bring them back. the question the thread is discussing is the genuinity of the movement. I am not a cessationist, I am a skeptic. The point of both the facts and the questions is What is the point. If the gifts don't discernibly empower the church, why bring them back?

Another example, more straighforward:
"Mimic me, just mimic me" - 20:36, 25:50

I was waiting when you will come with the blasphemy of the Spirit. Theology of fear.

Test everything. Your tongue included.
