1 Corinthians 14:34 King James Version (KJV)

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
1 Corinthians 14:34 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.

And this is childish understanding if you are taking these scriptures as law and not searching out what Paul was really addressing here.

Paul wrote of the gift of prophecy, the gift of knowledge, the gift of faith, the gift of tongues. Paul declared these sign gifts would cease but that faith, hope, and love would continue. Paul likened the sign gifts to things of a “child” which are put aside when one reaches adulthood. The sign gifts were “partial,” that is, they were useful to the church in its “child” stage but would cease when the “perfect” came.

Folks do like to defend their toys
Tongues is not a toy nor does one use it as such. Its a powerful gift to the individual believer. It also builds one up in their spirit.

I believe the baptism of Holy Spirit is the anointing that we are to flow in to the world. To witness in power.

Define the "perfect" please.

what Paul meant by “perfect” in 1 Corinthians 13.10. To better understand his meaning we need to examine how Paul used the word elsewhere. Paul used the word 8 times (10x if we include Hebrews). The translated word is followed by [τέλειος] in the table.

Paul’s Usage of τέλειος VerseAnd do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [τέλειος].Romans 12.2Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature [τέλειος]; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;1 Corinthians 2.6but when the perfect [τέλειος] comes, the partial will be done away.1 Corinthians 13.10Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature [τέλειος].1 Corinthians 14.20until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature [τέλειος] man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.Ephesians 4.13Let us therefore, as many as are perfect [τέλειος], have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;Philippians 3.15We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete [τέλειος] in Christ.Colossians 1.28Epaphras, who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect [τέλειος] and fully assured in all the will of God.Colossians 4.12But solid food is for the mature [τέλειος], who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.Hebrews 5.14But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect [τέλειος] tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation;Hebrews 9.11

An examination of these passages reveals that Paul’s preferred meaning for τέλειος was “mature” rather than “perfect” as in perfection.

I used to be just like you grace and truth. Thinking knowledge is gain...and it can be when it's truth, but all these words you just copied from some other source is summed up in this....when we are fully Spirit or One with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And move in this way.

Hasn't happened yet for the whole body. Only partially while ministering.

And to add here....it's called the manifestation of the Sons of God. It's starting though. This year you will see many things...or won't depending on ones hunger.

God completed His Word through the apostle Paul. Most of Christendom thinks John wrote the last portion of the Scriptures. This is incorrect. John wrote his gospel and epistles (including Revelation) most likely in the late 40s and early 50s. Paul wrote 2 Timothy around 67-68 A.D. This was the last book written and it completed the canon of Scripture.

In Colossians 1.25, Paul wrote: “of which [Church] I was made a servant according to the dispensation of God that was given to me to you to complete the word of God.” Paul taught sign gifts would cease when the “perfect” came. The “perfect” came with Paul’s completion of the Word of God. Sign gifts were helpful and valid during the early days of the church to provide guidance as to God’s will, to authenticate the message and ministry of God’s servants, and as a sign to the Jewish people.

Oh my goodness. Wow.

Here is the question, for the third time:
Does Scripture call tongues a gift and a sign?
For the third time. Yes a gift.... no not a sign

What does the sign represent and to whom does it point to?

well yah know, if you are opposed to the gifts, God is not going to go against your will

He does not force people to be saved and He does not force people to believe

and the teaching is in the Bible...do you put human reasoning and so called human negativity above the Bible?

people try to play God and they flop every time

same place as the last time you asked what you thought was killer question
If people teach that since 1900 every christian can pray in tongues, then simply my question is, why this was not teached before?
This has nothing to do, that some would resist against God to get this gift. It just has not taken place that God is giving this gift for today. Why should he prefer some of his children more than others. ( although he would have the right to do this)
Till today non of the teacher of this doctrine could answer my questions.
So why I should believe it.
And the bible dont teach it either!

Justin Peters destroys the whole idea of speaking in tongues.

Really? I'm surprised that I need to quote this to you, since you've quoted it at least a dozen times...

1 Corinthians 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not....

Take a moment to think through your answer.

I think he meant lacking nothing in respect to what was revealed

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: Colossians 1.26

The “perfect” came with the Holy Spirit's completion of the Word of God. The book of prophecy.

In Colossians 1.25, Paul wrote: “of which [Church] I was made a servant according to the dispensation of God that was given to me to you to complete the word of God.” [/QUOTE]
First, the word rendered "complete" in that translation isn't the same word rendered "perfect" in 1 Corinthians 13:8.

Second, it's not a published translated version. I could only find it in one article, apparently translated by the article's author. You need to provide links or at least citation information for articles that you quote, otherwise you are committing plagiarism. You can be banned for that.

The following are some well-known translations of Colossians 1:25, all from BibleGateway.com:

CSB I have become its servant, according to God’s commission that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,

ESV of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,

KJV Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

NASB Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,

NIV I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness—

NLT God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you.

RSV of which I became a minister according to the divine office which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,

Important to know which epistles were written first, second, etc.
