You can see all throughout scripture how the Lord would put His words and Spirit in His anointed, by which He would reprove, rebuke, and even slay with the words of His mouth by the ministry of the prophets.

Hosea 6:5 “Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.”

To make a fire first you must hew down some fire wood….

Matthew 3:10
“And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”

Slain by the fiery words of the Lords mouth by the prophets…

Jeremiah 5:14
“Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.”

Revelation 11:5
“And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.”

Psalm 104:4
“Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

Deuteronomy 4:24
“For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.”

Hebrews 12:29
“For our God is a consuming fire.”

The tares are bound first…..

Matthew 13:30
“Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”

Psalm 149:5-9 “
Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.[SUP]6 [/SUP]Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

[SUP]7 [/SUP]To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;[SUP]8 [/SUP]To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;[SUP]9 [/SUP]To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord.”

Isaiah 10:16-23 “
Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.[SUP]17 [/SUP]And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

[SUP]18 [/SUP]And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth.[SUP]19 [/SUP]And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.”

Isaiah 24:6 “Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Psalm 2:12
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”

Luke 12:49
“I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

This is a miss-leading comment. It is like saying a car takes you from one place to the other, but it is the tyres alone that actually do the carrying. Now both these statement are true.

Where the lie comes in is if you say the car body is irrelevant, where in reality 4 tyres by themselves are actually useless.

So Jesus's teaching is about who He is, what it means to follow, where the blessing of God really resides and how we walk in it. To be saved is to do all these things, they cannot be separated.

But this is why sin can be excused, and made irrelevant, by arguing you are saved and thats it.

But the parable of the seed and sower emphasises it is the continuation to fruitfulness that is the
whole point. It is like saying to a farmer, planting seed is just about putting seed in the soil, it
does not matter if it germinates or not, when the farmer will tell you the only reason he plants the
seed is to get germination and growth.

But Jesus reassures people. You are in Him, he will bring fruit in your life, just walk in His ways.

I just got a picture of how you tell a kid about planting seeds. You do not keep on digging them up
and checking they are growing, you just water it, give it sunlight and the right temperature and the
seed will grow. God is good, have faith and patience.

really good stuff peter, God bless

You read his post. I assume you found nothing to complain about in it, so you instead complained about his great lack of editing style...? If I had a horse, I would hitch it to Peters post. He would take care of my horse.:)

I was thinking about all these sinless, perfect people in this thread who rejoice in their self righteousness. Between all of them, not one bad word, not one impure thought, not one unjust criticism, not one unprovoked moment of anger, not one mile per hour over the speed limit -- ever, and always sharing with the world the fruit of the Spirit in a non-sanctimonious manner. Wow!

In Hosea, who did the prophets "hew down"? Was it not those who transgressed the covenant and who dealt treacherously against me (Hosea 6:7)?

Do you believe the HS is going to hew you down, InSpiritInTruth?

If the HS is going to hew you down, why?

If the HS is not going to hew you down, why not?

Those are direct questions to you, InSpiritInTruth, and I would appreciate your answers.

Thank you.

Please note, I am not advocating that believers are not reproved in this lifetime. I believe from the moment we are born again God begins His work within each and every one of us to cause us to walk worthy of the vocation to which we have been called. And at times it is painful when God removes those things from us which we believe are necessary. As we yield ourselves to the chastening of the Father, we reap the peaceable fruit of righteousness.

No because I am by the Spirit a hewer, not a hewee (or one to be hewn down) :)

God began His work in me long before I became a believer.

That's right when the Light of the Spirit comes in unto us He reproves the darkness in us, and the darkness begins to flee but not without a fight, as we must also resist the Devil and temptation to sin. The Holy Spirit is sent to guide us in the way we are to walk, by writing God's words upon our hearts and minds (sealed in the forehead). But if by chance you start to stray from that strait and narrow path He will reprove you by bearing witness to your conscience.

The gifts and the calling of God are without repentance, but it is the goodness of God that leads you to repentance. :)
I do not understand the first part of what you said :( Could you please clarify? :D

I do certainly agree with the second art. God is good! His love is beyond compare :)

Right. Those are the very things that the grace of God achieves and that we have been speaking to you about, exhorting you to, and rebuking you for denying

God calls us first, we follow. God chose us first, we did not choose Him first. All boasting has been removed when you understand a man can receive nothing except it first be given him from heaven, even the faith to believe in Jesus is a gift from God. :)
