Its talkin gabout the fear of the law. The fear of judgment, The fear of coming to him,

God said we can come to him because he loves us, we have nothing to fear. yes we may be chastened....
PSALM 94 [12] BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOM THOU CHASTENEST, O LORD, AND TEACHEST HIM OUT OF THY LAW;[13] That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.[14] For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.[15] But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.[16] Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Psalm 94 says the Lord chastens and teaches his people out of the law. And this law is still in force until the pit is dug for the wicked. The bottomless pit?

DEUT.8 [5] Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, AS A MAN CHASTENETH HIS SON, SO THE LORD THY GOD CHASTENETH THEE.[6] THEREFORE THOU SHALT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD THY GOD, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

Break the 10 commandments and God will chasten you. If your one of His sons.

HEBREWS 12 [4] Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, STRIVING AGAINST SIN. [5] And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: [6] For WHOM THE LORD LOVETH HE CHASTENETH, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. [7] If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

This new covenant scripture tells us that the Lord will chasten every son whom he loves and that we must stop commiting sin. What is sin according to the bible?

1 JOHN 3 [4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

We have a choice. Stop our sins and keep the commandments or be chastened by the Lord

I received 5 red x’s from him and two thumbs down between 4:20 and 5:00pm today in threads that pertain to the law. He sounds like a SDA to me and may have been here before. :cautious:

Hi guys no direspect intended just because I disagree with what you have posted in the past in this thread. I am working my way through the thread so have not read everything that has been written here as yet. I like hearing what everyone believes. It does not mean I agree with everything that has been written. Hope you understand there is nothing personal in my post ratings against any of you.

Blessings

Psalm 94 says the Lord chastens and teaches his people out of the law.
out of "Thy law" not out of "the law"

to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; to them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
(1 Corinthians 9:20-21)
do you understand what i just quoted?
it means that "
Thy law" -- God's law -- is not Torah. it is not "the law"
it cannot be, because Paul - under God's true law - became like those under "
the law" and like those without law, while remaining true to God's true law.

i understand, @Wall that you are more or less going to go on as if i never made this post. you consider it a matter of pride to be 'like talking to a wall' -- you cannot be moved. neither can you be softened.

but we must not pretend 1 Corinthians 9 does not exist.

You are challenged in an ocular manner if you think you keep the commandments of GOD and they help you gain or keep salvation....

define what "the commandments of God" are in this verse?

the right answer has to agree with 1 Cor. 9 -- so that Paul can become as though without law, while still keeping these, and that Paul's natural state is not under the law, so that he became as those under the law in order to win those under the law.

of particular interest is the fact that those under the law need to be won to Christ, and that those in Christ may be as though without law, without being in point of truth lawless.

we are obviously not talking about Torah in Rev. 14:12 -- and the Torah is one Torah; to break a single part is to be guilty of all, and to be circumcised is to be liable to all of it.

the law brings wrath, and where there is no law there is no transgression.
(Romans 4:15)
sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
(Romans 6:14)
@Wall stop acting like this isn't in the Bible.

perfect love drives out fear.

there is a perfect way to encourage righteous living. ignoring half of the NT is not that perfect way.
teach the gospel.

define what "the commandments of God" are in this verse?
MATTHEW 19 [16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? [17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. [18] He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, [19] Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

The translated word for commandments in Matthew 19 is “entole”. Obviously the 10 commandments

Revelation 14 [12] Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Once again the translated word for commandments in Rev.14 is “entole”. Gods 10 commandments

@Wall stop acting like this isn't in the Bible.

perfect love drives out fear.

Yes it does. And how do we show that love?

The new testament scriptures tell us how to “love one another”.

1JOHN 5 [2] By this WE KNOW THAT WE LOVE THE CHILDREN OF GOD, when we love God, and keep his commandments. [3] For THIS IS THE LOVE OF GOD, THAT WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: and his commandments are not grievous.

To love the children of God, we are to keep the commandments

2JOHN1 [5] And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER.[6] And THIS IS LOVE, THAT WE WALK AFTER HIS COMMANDMENTS. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Love one another. Keep the commandments

JAMES 2 [8] If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF, ye do well: [9] But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.[10] For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.[11] For he that said, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, said also, DO NOT KILL. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

ROMANS 13 [8] Owe no man any thing, but to LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.[9] For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.[10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

I decided to show the scripture of James 2 and Romans 13 which explain to us how we are to show our love for one another because im sure the next thing i hear is that it is not the 10 commandments being mentioned. But as you can see in these scriptures, adultry killing, stealing, bearing false witness, covetness are mentioned. And i suppose i will hear you say that since the “keeping of the sabbath” is not mentioned or “thou shalt have no other gods before me" is not mentioned these commandments can be ignored.

Would those be the ones the Judiasers were keeping? Like circumcision?
I think Paul has you beat.

Gal 2

"But even Titus, who was with me, was not forced to be circumcised, though he was a Greek. Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery— to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. the man Christ was speaking to was a completely faithless liar.

you do not understand what Matthew 19 says.

"
who then can be saved??" said the disciples. so don't feel bad; they didn't get it right away either.

stop pretending the book of Romans doesn't exist. that'd be a start.

Like circumcision? And the Seven Feasts?
What are we to do without a Temple and an earthly High Priest?

ANOTHER lawyer.....see how it goes when he stands before God and finds out that he never kept the law, not even once in his life.....If I had a dime for every time someone failed to take into account that the words of JESUS must be viewed in light of the fact he was born, lived and died UNDER THE LAW which ratified the NEW covenant.......I would have an extra couple hundred in the bank drawing interest.....
