Baptism is required. If one has faith then they will follow God's commandments and be born again. That is accomplished by repentance, baptism and living a righteous life.

here is another error

we do not follow commandments to be 'born again'

we are to have faith in the finished work of Christ...not in our own efforts to 'keep' commandments'

you do not seem to understand why Christ had to die in our place

ps: snarky and silly responses are not very convincing so saying things like "I don't have a Bible' is just childish

You are wrong.

Don't tell me I don't have faith...you have no reason to assign that to me. God's commandments are not classed as my efforts. Those I try to keep atall times including not trying to change His word. That which I see you are failure in.

You best study and be guided by scriptures. I can tell at this point you are not. There is only one water immersion baptism.
If these people are wrong, thus considered lost, based upon your judgment, why would you not speak to them with loving concern?

The OY had a ceremony, Accomplished on the 8th day of a males child's life. They cut the foreskin. And the child was seen as “cleansed”

Circumcision done by the hand of man was seen as a cleansing operation. Those who were circumcised were seen as holy, righteous set apart. Cleansed. According to the jew. If you were not circumcised you were not saved, or a part of Gods people. It was required.

But as Collossions says, it is not by the circumcision performed by the hands of man that cleanses, it is the one it represents. The circumcision done by the hand of God.

What surprises me, is so soon after the church was started. People made the same mistake as the jews made. Taking another ceremony performed by the hand of man, which represents cleansing being made holy and set apart. And accomplished the same thing, Instituted this ceremony which sym, obliges the same washing performed by the hands of God In Holy Spirit baptism, and saying it is required to be a child of God, If your not baptized in water your not saved, and your not a part of Gods people.

I think it shows the brilliance of Satan and how he can twist a spiritual truth just a little. And convince a whole population that it is from God.

Correct!

And Acts 15:1-5 demonstrates that even during the formation of the NT church, the heresy of salvation requiring circumcision was seen. And forcefully refuted.

The same applies to savlation requiring water baptism.

I want to say at the onset if people would believe and obey God's command to be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ their eyes would then be open to the truth.

Satan's primary objective throughout history has been to distort what is required of man in order to remain in covenant with God.

It was God who commanded obedience to circumcision in the Old Testament (Covenant). And it was God who stated that disobedience resulted in one actually being guilty of breaking God's covenant. (Gen. 17:11, 13-14) Would breaking the covenant through inaction result in death? Yes, it would have. See Exodus 4:24-26.

It was God who instituted water baptism in the New Testament (Covenant) as well. (Luke 7:30) Scripture confirms it's purpose. It is for remission of one's personal sin made possible through Jesus' sacrifice. (Luke 3:3, Mark 1:1-5, Acts 2:38, 22:16) According to the Word a spiritual reality takes place in one's obedience to God's command to be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Individuals are buried with Jesus into His death wherein their sins are destroyed as referenced in the scripture below.

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
FOR IF we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Rom 6:3-6

As the scripture clarifies it is only possible to be in the likeness of Jesus' resurrection IF we have been planted together in the likeness of His death.

One's spiritual rebirth requires both obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus for the remission of sin. (planted together in the likeness of Jesus' death) and receiving the Holy Ghost. Jesus pointed out that both are necessary in order to ENTER the kingdom of God. (John3:3-5) Consider how Jesus' words in John 3:5 parallel 1 Corinthians where we see two things that bring about righteousness:

1 Cor 6:9, 11
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?...
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, AND by the Spirit of our God.

Again, notice the parallel in Acts 2:38: "...be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Water baptism for the remission of sin is to be done in the name of the Lord Jesus and receiving the Holy Ghost/Spirit is the gift given by God.

If I understand you right, you are saying that there is no salvation, no eternal life without water baptism.
What about those who live in a place where water baptism is not possible, or it is not possible because of medical problems?

You neglect to realize, or maybe acknowledge, that the Jews wished to make people continue to obey the OT circumcision, as well as the NT requirement of water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 2:38)

No, I didn't neglect to realize that. The point was that they wanted to add circumcision, a ritual act, to getting saved.

Just like your view adds water baptism to getting saved.

Even though you've been shown plenty of Scripture that refutes that idea.

Actually the bible makes the point that sins are remitted in obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus.

The following is speculation. Considering the fact that baptism requires just enough water to immerse someone, I don't see it as being impossible to accomplish. This can be done in a bathtub, etc.

As to medical problems I am reminded of the story in John 5 where a man was willing, but unable to get into the water where healing was known to take place. The man believed what was required of him and was willing to obey and as such, we see Jesus honoring that.

Actually, obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus for remission of sin is a requirement according to the Word. (Acts 2:38, 22:16) It is well known, or should be, that no one will enter the kingdom of God unless their sins have been remitted/washed away. This reality was only made possible through the shed blood of Jesus on Calvary.

1. I was Baptized in the name of the Lord
2. I was born again BEFORE I was water baptized in the name of the lord
3. I was cleansed with the washing of water by the word.

It is not by works of righteousness which I have done (ie things like water baptism) but by Gods mercy he saved me.. by the washing (baptism) and renewal (new birth) of the HS.

Your interpretations of John and romans and acts are flawed. I would recomend you study them from a different viewpoint. I am not sure what you were taught. But something is wrong here when you give credit of the work of the Holy Spirit to a man. It is worrysome

Precious Kelby, you are Very Welcome. And thank you for this kind and Great Discussion!

Precious Kelby, of course I may be mistaken, in that Israel was, By God,
"Commanded In The Law," to be "water baptized FOR the remission of sin," in
order to obtain "What God Had Promised":

1) Exo_19:6 And ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.
These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
+
2) To those "gathered from 15 nations" from which there were "at Jerusalem
Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven." (Acts_2:5-12)

Act_2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received
of The Father The Promise of the Holy Ghost, He Hath Shed forth this, which ye
now see and hear.

Conclusion: Carrying these forward to apply to The Body Of CHRIST, Today, who is
NOT "under the law," But "Under GRACE," does, imho, create Massive Confusion, but
I could be mistaken

to be continued?...
Yes, continued when I wake up (hopefully). I had to work last night and just got home.

Love in Jesus,
Kelby

A lot of error occurs because men conflate "heaven" with "the Kingdom". They are not the same. Entering the kingdom, primarily, is about dying to our own ideas and being led by the Holy Spirit.

Anyone who knows the Lord should wholesale ignore anyone who preaches that we must speak in tongues and/or be baptized in water to enter the kingdom of God. They got such a doctrine from a pamphlet or a preacher not from the Lord.

I remember one of my elders said that he kept a quick prayer in his mind in case he saw his doom approaching: "Father, forgive me of my sins!" At the time it seemed right but I knew something was off. Imagine being in Christ for the majority of your life yet one split second of coincidence (like a car accident) can seal your fate apart from Him. When I grew older and wiser in the Lord, I realized the elder did not know his Father very well at all.

People who preach tongues and water baptism to get to heaven are like this elder: they use scripture ignorantly to push their agenda and they really do not know the Living God very well. Let them play with the other children and walk on from them.

Circumcision was a requirement associated with the Old Covenant. It ceased to be required in the New Covenant.

Acts 15 addresses the point that circumcision is not necessary. The point is made that Peter was the first to provide the Gentiles with the instructions necessary for salvation. (Acts 15:7-11) Peter's interaction with the Gentiles makes no mention of the need to be circumcised; however, he does command all to be water baptized in the name of the Lord. (Acts 10 and 11)

Actually, obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus for remission of sin is a requirement according to the Word. (Acts 2:38, 22:16)
Only for that specific group that Peter was addressing.

I have proven through Scripture that faith in Christ is what forgives sin (Acts 10:43) and saves (John 3:16, 5:24) and by which the Spirit is received (Cornelius and Gal 3:2,5).

It is well known, or should be, that no one will enter the kingdom of God unless their sins have been remitted/washed away.
No argument here. And John 3:5 says to enter the kingdom, one must be born again. John 1:12 and Gal 3:26 tells us that we are born again (become children of God) through faith.

Are you saying some are required to have water baptism but some may not?
Is that not saying there are at least two ways to salvation?
Would like also to know who has authority to baptize?
Who gives that authority?

If baptism is necessary, a person's salvation is not only dependent on faith but also on the actions (submitting to baptism) of the one who believes but also on another person who would baptize.
You are taking your salvation and eternal life out of the hands of God and putting them in your own actions and the actions of a third party.

It is not for me to judge, but it is a real concern when I see people trusting in their own physical actions in conjunction with the physical actions of a third party to gain salvation.
