All we can do is plant the seed, God will do what He pleases with that seed. God does not need our protection, or our defending Him, He is Almighty. God says, He will protect and cover us with His protection. Its our job to be a light, show Gods love, and let God be who He is. God can and will take care of things.

Do you honestly think that any atheist is going to listen to someone with the condesending attitude that you have?

And do you really think that you're better then them?

Get off your high horse and walk humbly! Isaiah 65v5
IDK. Do you think your condescending attitude works on him?

you will get NO where with a true Atheist. Why,, because they know the Bible pretty well and will make it work against you. No matter what scripture you quote or concept you try to convey, they already have an answer for it. The only person who can change their minds (short of them coming to you for help) is God Himself.

Even on this forum you have arguments on the Bible and its contents, whether it is the true WORD of GOD, etc....etc.

Best to leave them alone ....believe me I know.
Before I knew him, my husband was that atheist. He took it to the furthest step one can take it. He studied every religion in the world to see if there was a god. None of them satisfied. Most of them are so stupid he had none of it. ("The best thing you can do is, kill yourself. The best thing is if you were never born.") The thing he had against the God of the Bible was those that followed him didn't act like that God told them to act.

So, he'd find new Christians or pew-stuffer Christians and destroy them with one silly question after the next. They didn't know God's word, so they couldn't counter. (And later on, he knew the argument, so can counter.)

And then he met the wife of a co-worker/friend. She knew her Bible. And he tried his silly questions, which she'd open the Bible and show himm the answer.

He got mad, went home and came up with more silly questions. She went to her women's group and had them pray for him.

One of the things he learned how to do from those other religions was to heal himself of a rash. (He's sensitive to chemicals, but he was an HVAC mechanic so had to clean his hand with something called Goop, and it caused a rash on his hands. He'd meditate to remove it. It worked.)

She also had her group pray that that would stop working... and that worked, making his rash go from his hands up to his elbow. Making him madder and madder.

And he'd come back every night for three weeks with more and more "proofs there is no god," and she'd deflect.

Three weeks! He was furious! He started planning how to kill her. And then he went to sleep.

And then he woke up born again.

I was saved by asking God to show himself to me as clearly as I could see the actor playing Jesus in the opera Jesus Christ Superstar. I went to bed a nonbeliever and woke up the next day born again. The dude who wrote that opera still isn't a believer.

Never EVER underestimate the power of God. God ONLY saves those who do not believe.

Thanks bro! I'll definitely use that George Washington thing on them. Another Christian responded to them about the bible prophecies. This is what the atheist responded with.

"1. If predictions don't have dates attached to them, then they're likely going to happen at some point in the totality of time.example: I predict that the world will one day end. I won't say when, but it will happen some day.The prediction is silly because there's no date attached to it.
2. Just because it predicted some things doesn't make it valid, you doofus. It's a 2,000-year-old book that reflects the culture of the men that wrote it at the time (women beating, stoning, killing nonbelievers)."

What should I say back?
2. How do you know what it is, since you already think it's merely 2000 years old?

1. Your prediction is already covered. And only two out of three of what you said is right.

Apparently, you haven't read the book. How about at least being knowledgeable enough by reading the book before you argue against something you know so little about?

Ha! I thought this would be your approach now. Once someone tells you something about yourself that you don't want to here, then this is what you do. Take every little thing they say and make it all about them, in your passive-aggressive "I'm so innocent" way, until you can report them to the mods and get them banned. It does clear up what happened to Syd in my mind.

But, please, feel free to keep going. As I said, I've ignored you. My curiosity just got the better of me. AND as long as you have your arrows trained on me, most others you don't like will be free of those arrows too.

I want atleast provide them evidence. Give them something to read and consider. Isn't there some articles that help prove God's existence?
The best "refuting" texts I've ever read are written by Lee Strobel. He was an atheist, an investigative reporter for a major news outlet, (Chicago Tribune) and set out to "prove" that God and Christianity were a joke, as his wife had become a Christian.

After his research, he became a Christian, and has written several books, all titled "The Case for XXXXX" He has The Case for Christ, The Case for a Creator, etc..... very well researched an documented.... I highly recommend them.

All very good points :) Still, we are exhorted to be ready at all times to give an answer to everyone who asks us for the reason for the hope that is in us, which does often come down to defending our faith from the attacks laid upon it by those who denigrate faith and deny the reality of Spiritual truths. Some atheists deny that anything spiritual even exists, calling the word itself a soggy cabbage of a word. They can be quite humorous to engage :D Though more often than not, some non believers have set out on a path where their end game is to destroy faith. Of this type, it does seem that some came out of a religious background, and carry huge resentments against religion in general and Christianity in particular. Being a former atheist may certainly help in understanding where they are coming from. Even anyone who lived a life of non-belief in the Biblical God without being an atheist, we can understand and relate to their preconceived ideas.

This has turned out to be an excellent apologetics thread! I thank everyone for their links and comments. I'm running into this group of atheists who are friends of an atheist friend of mine on FB. They just keep popping up on her threads, condemning Christians. This thread has really helped me, and will give me some really good explanations and things to post.

I seem to live in a little conclave of Christians these days! I have forgotten a lot of this evidence! So praise God, for this OP, a new believer, who has helped me realize I must pray for these souls, and have a solid witness and testimony.

As for me, I had tons of Christians witnessing to me. But I was proud and arrogant. I just could not believe! So God stepped in and personally called me, and shook my hardened heart and then gave me a new one.

But, "Blessed are they who have not seen and yet believed." John 20:29

I think that in the end, we need to share the gospel, our testimony, and the evidences for God, the Bible and the truth, but only God can save people.

"What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task.6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building." 1 Cor. 3:5-9

1. There is also a third group. Unbelievers that are predestined to come to faith, like you and me once were. For them, the logical barrier of atheism can be the last resort before they can come to Christ.

2. Even though somebody will not answer positively to proofs, evidence or logical/philosophical arguments, they all have the important meaning in showing the world that our faith is not unreasonable and a fairytale.

There have been others who set out to prove, and yet God did the proving. lol

A hard lesson that I am STILL learning... "If you're going into it referring to them as 'fools', you might want to work on loving and praying for them before you entertain any kind of discussion or debate". God has SERIOUSLY dealt with me about being more kind (EVEN with "trolls").

Many of the above replies suggest that you could be wasting time, since they are likely more interested in stirring up a fight than searching for truth. That may or may not be, but can I make this suggestion; don't TELL them anything. Only ASK questions that will draw the (obvious) answers out of their own lips. Study the Gospels to see how often the Lord used this method to quickly separate those who were open from those who already "had all the answers". If they ARE open, this will be far more convincing (and convicting) than you overwhelming them with facts and arguments.

I would also posit that faith and fact are not enemies, but partners. I've done a study recently comparing "Western Faith" to "Eastern Faith" Western Faith is far too often "blind faith", that is, "I believe it even though there is little (or NO) evidence to support my belief." But Eastern Faith is more like, "I have seen sufficient past evidence (acts or events) to step out and believe that which has been promised, but I have not yet seen!" And isn't that how God treated his followers? He has no need to "prove Himself", but shows just enough of His power or glory to encourage them to trust in Him more fully. You may reject or accept what you have seen, but you cannot deny it.

Pray for the kind of heart that is more concerned with winning the soul than winning the debate. Atheists often AREN'T fools, but highly educated individuals who have had some experience with a church or religion that has driven them away from God. You won't win them back, but the Spirit of Christ moving IN you just might.

So in this comment section on youtube there was this atheist guy mocking Christian music. Later down the line another one comes in and now they're saying there's no evidence of Jesus and the bible isn't credible. Can you provide me the best links to articles that prove Jesus Christ's existence and that supports the bible's claims? I'm a new Christian so I'm not good with this stuff.

From an old Christian man who has most of his life working with and around atheists. The best possible link connects an atheist to a witness of the what God is doing in your life. Arguing with an atheist about Jesus, music, evolution creation or even world history, is a rabbit hole used by an atheist to keep you from sharing the Gospel with him. Don't fall into the hole.

I can't give you any links. All I can tell you is that I'm 63 years old, and the Lord has solved every problem I've ever had.
How do I get to know God that well so that he solves all my problems?

What you don't realize is, as long as they keep throwing insults at you, you will be raising their "score" in their eyes.
Its okay. They stopped commenting after I shared them the links. I'm assuming they're average atheists that do not look into anything about the bible and just claim God isn't real.

Are you sure #2 wasn't talking about Islam and the Qur'an? Challenge them to find one place in the New Testament where any of these things are found.

There is "husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her. " Eph. 5:25 Never a mention of wife beating!

Stoning! You could bring up the woman caught in adultery. The Jews wanted to stone her, Jesus gave them the truth! They were all sinners! And he stopped a stoning! See John 8:3-11.

To the contrary, Jesus let himself be killed by non believers, and his followers did the same. All the disciples except Judas (killed himself) and John, died as martyrs and Christians have continued to be killed because they love Jesus, follow him. There are many being crucified and beheaded by ISIS in the Middle East right now for renouncing Islam and following Jesus.

These people are really clueless, and know nothing about Christ, or what is written in the Bible. If you want, send me a pm with the video you are sharing with these atheists, or wherever, and I will come and deal with them. Or if this is a good mission field for you, keep doing it and asking for specific help. Either is good!
Its alright sister they don't seem to know anything about what they're saying. They stopped commenting after I shared the links with them. But if some other atheist comes in I'll let you know.

I was also arguing with atheist at one stage of my life :) I became so angry and bitter towards them that even today if I see an atheist post I need to bite my tongue (or is it my fingers???).

The fact is that even with all the knowledge and logic in the world they will not listen to you. Without the Spirit they will not change friend.
I know they won't listen to me. I was just trying to show them they're wrong about the things they say. I'm not gonna let them think they won the debate NO WAY. I'm getting the last word.
