Whoa that is a ton of water! I hope you are able to get some of the Traditional Medicinals Breathe Easy Tea, Frank; it makes such a big difference for me :) Plus, it is very tasty, especially if you like licorice ;)

Hmmm, this piece of 40 acre property in Neillsville WI is for sale at under $1,800 per acre.

I had some inheritance money when I was younger and should have invested in property (a home) then but I was way too unsettled and did not want the responsibility or to be tied down. Turns out I pretty much stayed put and have worked fairly steadily over the last four decades and only had three jobs since I was twenty one, all in the same industry. All my qualms were for naught.
Wow...what gorgeous land Magenta! :)

I am glad the air quality index is improving, Angela :) It was very noticeable here a month ago, and so strange to have all the smoke from the interior come all that distance to foul our air! Never seen anything like it in thirty eight years here...
While there are many out of control fires in the interior, most of the smoke is actually coming from fires in Washington, Oregon and northern California. The wind seems to have really turned north, rather than the prevailing westerlies! I saw a bunch of pics of your area on TV last night and it didn't look pretty there either.

We started with some local fires in June, and there has been a haze on the mountains ever since. But nothing like yesterday. You could even smell the smoke.

That's a pretty piece of property, you could do wonders with it.
I keep telling my son to invest while he can, one day he won't
be able to. Depends on how much timber, and how many acres
it is, the timber may just about pay for the property. The timber
looks to be about 5 years from harvest time, they buy by the ton,
the logs has to be a certain size.

I've had 2 jobs, one a paramedic, the other a farmer. I would rather
be a farmer than anything else. You work hard, but the rewards are
out of this world. You get to see so much that you can't see in the
city. The city has crime, we have bears, coyotes, wolves, gators, foxes,
and all the other wildlife that's out there. Still would rather live here
than in the city.

But not herds of pesky, garden munching deers. I could do without those. Ironically, I lived on an acreage in the country before I moved here, in Alberta. I saw wolves, coyotes lived across the road, and foxes, hares and lots of gophers (my husband's pet hate!) And there was a herd down the highway, at one point. But no deers ate my garden.

So the deers here, in the city (although I can see the forest from both the front and back of my house) the deers just roam wild, destroying trees, perennials, flowers and vegetables at will. I even put mesh over the garden beds, and they ripped them apart to get at the ripe tomatoes, lettuce, beans, etc. etc.

My husband is slowly putting up a 7 foot fence to deter them. Maybe by winter? He thinks retirement means do nothing!
His alternate idea to get rid of the deers is allow the big dogs to go off leash. He was raised in a mountain town not far from here, and the deers never got the gardens. Because the dogs kept them away.

My alternate idea is to bring in the wolves they killed up in northern BC to cull their packs. Deers need natural enemies, and I think it would greatly thin the herds. Not sure whether they would attack people or pets, though. I like wolves, they are so strong and bold. A pack of them stared me down a few winters ago near the road. I stopped to look, they were so amazing, but they didn't want anything to do with me, and they wanted me gone! LOL

I believe the phrase "nice guys finish last" depends on whom you're trying to impress.

I have never liked that saying....it is used too much as an excuse for being bad. And most of the time it is only true if you mean a race to prison.

Agreed! It also inaccurate. Just because we finish last, doesn't mean we lose. Perhaps the race wasn't worth winning to start with.

I am fine I just rested Saturday AM before the swarm of locusts descended upon the tourist household.... that is what his sister said not me I am just repeating what she said.....lol

PS - Dinner was fantastic even if I do say so myself - everyone had enough to eat and then some - told them they could take dessert home with them which they did and left us with just about enough for one last meal for us the next day..... So it was a big success and they now know where we live and what the place looks like almost clean....lol Remember I only did the downstairs they got to see the way we really live upstairs those who were brave enough to make the climb....lol

I really need to get that ladies number and call it that Willie gave me to start coming and cleaning at least once a month for me.......I am so much better at everything else but cleaning......Did you see my first time canvas painting I painted on vacation? I would so much rather do things like that than clean.....poor tourist I warned him he many chances to run and didn't.....lol

The feeling of loneliness is the most depressing feeling of them all... :(
Been there done that..... But Brother you are not alone if your eyes could be opened you would see your guardian angel and the Holy Spirit hovering around and in your heart.....God is always with you so don't be distressed.....God loves you very much and you are protected.

Is it weird that as the family gopher I've developed a hearing problem?

(Note: Gopher is an pun for "go for" and expression that means you happen to be the person everybody calls on to do something for them. The errand boy.)

It's true, the Lord above and our guardian angels is always there with us through thick and thin. Just sometimes it feels like when things get tough. Were only left with ourselves to deal with it.

I had a housekeeper come in every two weeks the first 5 years I had RA, and couldn't do anything. Then she stopped doing the job, and by that time I was feeling good enough to do it myself, although it is not my favourite thing either.

Since I have gotten bad again, I have begged my husband to let me hire someone. He says he will do it. I end up doing a lot, but I still cannot vacuum. He vacuumed ONCE the first 6 months we moved here. Then we started having summer guests (this is a big resort area in the summer) and he was vacuuming before they came. I hope I get a few more guests in the next few weeks, before the floor really gets into trouble!

Glad the dinner went so well JL! I knew by the awesome cookies you bake it would be a great meal! LOL
