The one who was to come came:

Heb 10: 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. .....
36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37For, in just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.

Rom 13:11And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

The idea that you are going to wait in future to tell people how they were wrong is futility. Unless Paul lied (God forbid).

Jesus' tomb was empty.......His flesh and blood put on immortality and inherited the Kingdom of God. We shall do the same.....our flesh and blood shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye. I don't have to understand the science of it but, I do know our physical bodies will die as seeds and a new body will come forth from the ground just like Jesus did.
1st Corinthians 15 tells us exactly.......our body will be raised in power and the verbiage used to describe this body is clear.....and there are hints as to ability found in what Christ did before his final ascension......

The i want to understand this:

John 14:12Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Can you or are you doing greater works than Jesus ever did?
It is very simple, if your answer is no then cessation it is or we can say that you are not a believer, but if your answer is yes, i also want to know what works you are doing?
Or,is the word of God true?
Is mat 18;18 true?
18:19 ?
If performance authenticates the word of God, then you and I are lightyears apart.
Mat 7 has performers;
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

And if " greater works" proves i belong to Jesus then the apostles were not saved (according to your litmus test).
They didn't ALL surpass the greatness of miracles of Jesus.

It was obviously greater in number, not neccessarily the intensity of each one.

But I have the baptism in the Holy spirit. Speak in tongues, have cast out demons, and seen sickness defeated both through. Laying on of hands and prophesying,or declaring what heaven told me to say.
Have seen many,many visions.
And been in corporate worship in the Holy of Holies where miracles broke out and demons shrieked in agony at the intensity of his presence.
Jesus is alive and miracles, gifts, prophecy, etc prove it.

The question has not been answered yet but i have heard many excuses as to why people do not do greater works than Jesus.
I don't have to be omnipresent to know that the miracles that happen today are fake, i just have to read the bible:

Matthew 24:24
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
That means paul was fake.
He saw demons working signs and false works along side his ministry.
That must prove all is fake, even God.

Satans counterfiet actually confirms God.
Psssst:
A conterfiet is a fake. Not the real.

It is not a trick question, it is a verse from the bible. Do you skip over that verse when you read your bible?
Can you heal many/ can you raise the dead/ can you do many miracles- if you can not, don't blame me, but i know why.
Jesus can. He is up to any task.
He not does it like he said. Through you and me.
Hear Him and respond to the call.
Maybe you are called into that walk.
Maybe you are like Saul, being transfomed into Paul.
Your passion is a clue to your calling. I will venture to say God is indeed calling you into the gifts or possible healing ministry.
A trophy to God.
You are a trophy noose.
Called into a greater dimension.
Dive in. The water is great!!!!!
I bet you know, deep down, there is way more.
Way,way more.

Nobody including the apostles did.
Rabbit trail to nowhere
John 14:12 Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

So who was this promise directed to? If no one did greater works than Jesus, was it an empty promise?

I know the disciples did many miracles:

Acts 5:12The apostlesperformed many signs and wonders among thepeople, and with one accord the believers gathered together in Solomon’s Colonnade.

Acts 19:11God didextraordinary miracles through the hands of Paul,12so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.

Acts 15:12
The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.

I'm sure it will but they are not meant for our times.
If someone is truly saved, they KNOW it.
Salvation is like new life,a passage from death to life. A wonderful thing, too good for words.
Indescribable.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is like that.
Miracles gifts,prophecy,speaking in tongues....all now,all for today.
All following the baptism.
Wonderful beyond words.
Someone claiming otherwise brings a chuckle.
Swimming in a 6 ft backyard pool vs a Olympic 50 yarder.
Just indescibable.
I would not trade it for anything

Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
That does not mean that all of the healing of God that some call miracles are fake. God is simply not brining new revelations by which we could identify who is behind the great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible. This is seeing the elect does not violate the warning to add or substract now that we have the whole or perfect, sealed with 7 seals until the end of time.

There is no confirmation as a sign but rather we walk by faith the unseen understanding.. Its an evil generation that refuses to walk by faith the unseen eternal but rather seek after a signs and wonders gospel hoping it confirm they are filled with the Spirit. No such thing as sign gifts. Signs are used as curses not blessings .
.
The sign of tongues according to the law in 1 Corinthians 14:21 22 are against those who refuse to believe in a God not seen who works through the book revelation, the book of prophecy . The sign confirms unbelief, not belief as those who do walk by faith as it is written believing prophecy... The word of God .

The air way is open to all who walk by sight(sign seekers) as a way of confirm something not seen …..the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2 Thessalonians 2 :9-11

Why violate the warning not to add or subtract from the perfect? Why take a chance in going above that which is written in order to widen the authority of God's Holy word .How would a person know if God has sent them a strong delusion if any thing goes just believe..

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

This passage seems to suggest otherwise

Rom 8:
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
“For Your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”e

37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I am glad they are.
So glad.

Others make me look like i am backing up.
I am happy for them too.
People need help.
You could reach and help many that nobody else could
