All anti-Calvinist, humanistic heresy comes from people placing their WISHES above the facts of Scripture. Its inherent in their humanistic doctrines and anti scriptural and anti Sovereignty of God.
Jer.18 was cited by someone explaining how God forms clay. Please read Jer.18 Grandpa, and tell me how our Potter forms people.

I have always noticed how it is the same defense, the Calvinists insists they are defending the sovereignty of God.

As though God cannot provide a plan of salvation which allows people come to Him by the power of persuasion of the truth of the Gospel.

Their argument, in my view diminishes God and reduces him to a tyrant. God is not so fragile about His power and sovereignty.

People have agency and we were created that way by God because God has agency.

I agree it is sickening.

But I maintain, that falling into this warped view of God is because of a certain personality bent within a person, someone should really study this more. Calvin would be a good first starting example, he sure had a need for absolute power.
I think the problem is that theologians view Jesus as someone other than God.

I believe God creates all people with the capacity to believe whatever we want. I believe God gives all people opportunity to believe in him.
“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:4-5‬ ‭

a whenever we are told contrary things like “ don’t eat the fruit you’ll surely die “

And “ you will not surely die it will make you wise like gods “

awe now cannot avoid a choice of who to believe

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:19‬ ‭

the New Testament whenever we hear the gospel and then a voice explaining contrary things we’re offered a choice of who to believe

awe can believe what Jesus the lord said , or what people say later that’s opposed

whenever there is two offerings we have no choice but , to choose which to accept.

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we stick with Jesus it’s going to cause us to reject the things opposed and make our choice for us

That may or may not be true. Nobody really knows IMO. And frankly it is impossible to know.

What we DO KNOW, is simply this:
That if you say "yes" to Jesus....He will save you.
That if you say "no" to Jesus....He will not save you.

And from our perspective, that's all we've got to work with.

This business of reading God's mind and speculating on man's capacity to believe or not is folly IMO.

The clay had no choice in what it turned out to be.
I don't think you ever responded to post #412, but the point of the Potter and the clay is,

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so arey e in mine hand, O house of Israel. Jer.18:6

In vss.7-10, he tells us people are formed based on their respect or lack thereof for him. Read the text. His meaning is plain.

The natural man, before God exchanges his stoney heart, quickening him to a fleshy heart, that can be pricked to feel spiritual guilt, he is unable to repent of breaking one of God's spiritual, which he cannot discern, and thinks them to be foolishness. (1 Cor 2:14)
By "natural man", Paul means men who are concerned only with fleshly desires. Paul says,
I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling....That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1Cor.2:3,5

You're teaching is opposed to this, because you believe how Paul conducted himself had nothing to do with them having faith in God. You're wrong.

Christ's sacrifice on the cross was a sacrifice to God, for God's acceptance, and not to mankind, for mankind's acceptance.
Jesus' sacrifice demonstrated his oneness with his Dad, as our Father patiently endures sins against himself every day. Verses you cite below also show this.

QUOTE="ForestGreenCook, post: 4973541, member: 272369"]
There was no repentance of sins, from those that Christ died to redeem them of their sins.[/quote]
Yes there was repentance,
The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Lk.11:32

It's plain they could have and should have repented and there are many examples of people repenting.

Christ did not die for all mankind, but only those that his Father gave to him (John 6:39) ( John 10:26-29)
If you would look at why Jesus is saying what he's saying in these passages you're citing, you would see he's identifying himself with his Father.
They were questioning his identity. He's saying if they truly learned about God, they would come to him. If they wee Gods' sheep, they would follow him.

Only the born again children of God will repent of breaking spiritual laws. Repent saves (delivers) the born again children from their loss of God's fellowship, temporary, until the repent. Even though they lose their fellowship with God, temporary, they do not lose their eternal inheritance.
Ok. Then this is a meaningless warning,

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not Jde.1:5

Our Savior patiently enduring the vile sins being committed against him is the goodness of God

amen “the goodness of God that leads one to repentance “

because as he is being so patient and forebearing with us it’s to the same purpose

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That requires him to be patient with sinners and forebearing as we grow in faith the fruits begin to flourish and repentance becomes freedom ( a lifetimes worth of forebearance from God and perseverance from us
Oh absolutely we are being conformed into his image, which allowed people to spit on him. I can attest it's ongoing. It has taken me most of my life to have that kind of faith in him. And I still get attacked with that often. But the thing I can't get out of my heart, is that our Creator visited us, and people crucified him. Dear Jesus. If we would only view all sin that way, we would never do it.

“in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He’s trying to enslave and kill us Gods calling us out of that trap of Satan in this world

knowing fully the truth is “ God is always willing to forgive me when I mess up I just acknolwedge in humility and repent and press on

our calling to repentance and righteousness is here while he’s being patient

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Really truly brother good stuff always from you it’s a benefit to me at least
Yes, it does matter whether God may give someone a repentant heart by how we present it, in meekness, as God may deem that act alone, or along with other kind acts believers have shown unbelievers, enough for them to have believed.

Have you ever studied the sin sacrifice in Moses law ? And it’s two functions ?
I think the symbolism of OT sin offerings are amazing.

The mind of God is the mind of Jesus. His mind is known by his Spirit, which he freely gives to anyone who wants to know him.
I wanted to know him because a person who had his Spirit showed me the love of Christ.

Sure.
Nevertheless you cannot even read my mind or heart let alone that of the infinite God.
And you certainly do not know who the yet-to-be-saved elect are either.

Thats the point.

Those verses don’t contrast and eliminate the others when your saying “ grace “ it’s this kind of grace that we are saved by through fait

If you are quoting Eph 2:8-9, The faith in verse 8, is not mankind's faith, but is Jesus faith that justifies us (Gal 2:16). If you apply the faith in verse 8, as mankind's faith, it will contradict Gal 2:16.

A person does not have spiritual faith until they have been quickened, by God, to the new spiritual life (born again) and given the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22).

yes i agree completely I think the process is a life long one we are planted and we begin to sprout , then grow and produce a stock and leaves , and later buds begin to form and still later they mature and eventually there is a fruitful tree that produces good fruit but I also have grown over a lifetime of persevering

sometimes I fell flat on my behind and failed God miserably other times I walked along in step other times I took a wrong path other times I just got lazy other times I worked hard and tried to run

what I know now is all the while God was trying and testing me and repairing me and healing me. So from the day I believed I was on a path there were many valleys and hills ahead many trials and struggles much to endure and many mistakes to make tomlewd me to where I am now in faith a lifetime in a world not ours but enduring in faith that first seed has grown into something better and more fruitful

the key to all of it was tbat Jesus was right there with me planting that seed and when I fell he picked me up and encouraged me , when I took a wrong path he rebuked and corrected my compass , when I got lazy he poked me with a prod , when I had no strength he picked me up and carried me , when I did good he blessed and praised me like a son , whe. I did wrong willingly he admonished me and I’ve felt his rod more than once

what I’ve found is I forgot everything but Jesus and his gospel and now he’s still right here with me still ready to help me correct me teach me embrace me lift me comfort me rebuke me

Its a lifetime and for me it has been a wild ride ups and downs and all around truly a broken road but it lead somewhere tonthe top of a mountain where I can see better things ahead even as I’m old I have more hope of a future than when I was but a lad filled with wonder towards this world

sits really about what Jesus has done for us , is doing in us , and where he’s leading us and whether we’re willing to follow where that leads

“Yes, it does matter whether God may give someone a repentant heart by how we present it, in meekness, as God may deem that act alone, or along with other kind acts believers have shown unbelievers, enough for them to have believed. “

yes brother kindness is defiantly good but to come to repentance we also have to accept our need for it sometimes we just have to speak the truth so for instance someone who really believes the Bible may need to hear this truth in order for them to realize how important repentance is

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

see this kind of thing ( that is repetitive in scriptire ) isn’t there to offend us or sound rude , but it’s an important part of the doctrine of the gospel that if we accept it as a believer it’s going to begin making us think that we need to pay attention to what we do and don’t do because we have to answer for it and will reap that which we sow in our earthly life

the truth needs to be heard along with everyone being nice and doing kind acts in his name

If we think we don’t have to answer for what we do and won’t reap what we sow , it’s extremely important to accept what the scripture declares about that. It isn’t always pleasant people see a Christian and realize they are easy to target because they don’t believe in retaliation easy to defame because they bless those who say bad things about them ect

a we’re not all there yet but it’s about persevering and pressing forward towards the goal and trusting jesus to be there with us and see it through

“If you do not interpret the scriptures is the reason that you come up with scriptures that do not harmonize with each other.”

They all harmonize lol it’s one continuos message that becomes clearer when you don’t try to use one verse theology

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ( this verse doesn’t end anything else you have to keep reading )

not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Those verses don’t contrast and eliminate the others when your saying “ grace “ it’s this kind of grace that we are saved by through faith

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-15‬ ‭

Grace teaches us to repent

“teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,”

and to obey the lord

and embrace the things Jesus taught us to do not label them “ a work of the law “

“we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

And to be zealous of good works

“redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

These things speak, and exhort,”

saying “ I’m saved by grace no works involved the end “ will never teach what Gods grace teaches us in the gospel it will never teach us to repent and obey God but that’s what Gods grace teaches

did you know everything Paul spoke and wrote was to achieve this end ?

“For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

arhats never going to happen by repeating this verse to everyone and explaining there’s nothing to do

“For by grace are ye saved through faith;”

the reason you don’t think scriptire reconciles is you refuse to accept the part that’s meant to cause repentance and obedience which is Paul’s entire goal of everything he says about grace

a you learn to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts when you start listening to the lords word even in Paul’s letters it’s the same

a you learn to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts when you don’t pretend this isn’t part of what Paul’s teaching

“But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:3-7‬ ‭

a when your able romper tbat into your thinking your going to start understsnding it’s not about anyone’s “ interpretation “ of this verse of that verse but to accept and believe what you are learning like above there that’s as true as anything paul said and is part of a gods grace that saves it’s the part that teaches us

“teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”

nothing will ever reconcile if we refuse to hear it , me personally I believe it’s true and let it work in my mind to bring repentance and righteousness the work of Gods grace

and I don’t pretend one verse elsewhere erases what I learn it all works together to this end

This is a good example of Gods grace teaching a believer of they will hear it

“But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:8-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s like the gospel of grace books are saying grace means nothing applies nothing to learn. I thing to do your saved your saved your the elect nothing can change it “

It’s foolishness to reject Gods word and what he said will save people based on a single verse from any apostles letter

theres no interpretation needed theres hearing and believing that’s needed and not rejecting and “ interpreting away “ what it plainly says

God has given everyone the same offer of salvation jew and gentile old and young male and female and he’s said “ hear me and believe and I will save you “

she’s calling us to repent and live right before him some will respond and some won’t based on what they reject and what they allow into thier thinking

You have your thinking all screwed up, by not understanding that salvation, saved, and save, according to Greek translation means; deliverance, delivered, and deliver.

We are delivered eternally, by God's sovereign grace. We are delivered, here in this present world, many times, as we repent of breaking God's spiritual commandments. The natural man will not repent of breaking a spiritual law that he cannot discern, and thinks to be foolishness (1 Cor 2:14), only the born again spiritual man will repent.

No matter how you read the scriptures, mankind's works is not responsible for his eternal deliverance, and that is what you are promoting.

Luke 18:40-43 - The "saved" in verse 42, is not eternally delivered, but is a deliverance that the blind man received, in this present world, from his blindness.

The natural man, as described in 1 Cor 2:14, has a heart of stone that cannot be pricked by God to feel guilt about breaking spiritual laws, until God quickens him to the new spiritual life, by changing his heart of stone to a fleshy heart that can be pricked to feel guilty when breaking a spiritual law of God.

Acts 2:36-37 - (Peter preaching) Therefore let all the house of Israel (God's people) know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heart this, they were "pricked in their heart" (having been born again and given a fleshy heart) and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Peter, then told them to repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for (unto) the remission of sins, and ye shall receive "the gift" of the Holy Ghost, (which is the freedom from guilt).

To give you the contrast of the response from the heart of stone, of those that heard the same sermon from Stephen, they were "cut to the heart", and gnashed on him with their teeth, and stoned him to death (Acts 7:54).

There is a very much in the way of "electing" and "choosing" going on here bro. Polarizing views to the contrary does this phenomenon no justice.

Rev 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called (G2822), and chosen (G1588), and faithful.

(G2822) klētos
  1. called, invited (to a banquet)
    1. invited (by God in the proclamation of the Gospel) to obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom through Christ
    2. called to (the discharge of) some office
      1. divinely selected and appointed

(G1588) eklektos
  1. picked out, chosen
    1. chosen by God,
      1. to obtain salvation through Christ
        1. Christians are called "chosen or elect" of God
      2. the Messiah is called "elect", as appointed by God to the most exalted office conceivable
      3. choice, select, i.e. the best of its kind or class, excellence preeminent: applied to certain individual Christians

Mat 20:16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. G1588

Mat 22:14
For many are called, but few are chosen. G1588

Mat 24:22
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake G1588 those days shall be shortened.

Rom 8:33
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? G1588 It is God that justifieth.

Eph 1:4
According as he hath chosen (G1586) us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

(G1586) eklegomai
  1. to pick out, choose, to pick or choose out for one's self
    1. choosing one out of many, i.e. Jesus choosing his disciples
    2. choosing one for an office
    3. of God choosing whom he judged fit to receive his favours and separated from the rest of mankind to be peculiarly his own and to be attended continually by his gracious oversight
      1. i.e. the Israelites
    4. of God the Father choosing Christians, as those whom he set apart from the irreligious multitude as dear unto himself, and whom he has rendered, through faith in Christ, citizens in the Messianic kingdom: (James 2:5) so that the ground of the choice lies in Christ and his merits only

2Th 2:13
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen (G138) you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

(G138) haireō
  1. to take for oneself, to prefer, choose
  2. to choose by vote, elect to office

Jhn 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Jhn 15:19
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Act 1:24
And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

Rom 16:13
Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.

1Pe 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Can you explain the difference between, "called" and "chosen", in the two verses you quoted below?

Mat 20:16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. G1588

Mat 22:14
For many are called, but few are chosen. G1588

That is a good documentary of a born again person, simulare to most of us. The thing that I am concerned about, is why can't you give God all praise and honor for birthing you spiritually, instead of giving yourself credit for accepting, believing, repenting, confessing, choosing, receiving, and other works that we do after we have been born spiritually?

I know the word chosen and elect is in the Bible. If I was a calvinist, I wouldn't quote Matthew 22:14 though, as the whole idea is that the first group didn't ACCEPT the invitation and didn't wanna come to the wedding so the King says GO AND INVITE EVERYONE.

Yes we are chosen IN HIM (in CHRIST) before the foundation of the world, because the lamb of God was slain from the foundation of the world, and we are in HIM. It was planned
I have the same issue regarding, called and chosen, as you do.

It is impossible to hear God calling you, to understand the reconciliation that Jesus provides. Then to end up, chasing wealth instead and not being chosen.

As quoted below.

Mat 20:16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. G1588

Called but not chosen is a refutation of divine determination.

“You have your thinking all screwed up, by not understanding that salvation”

Yeah I abandoned my thinking long ago and heard what the lord said about salvation

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s the only person who understands salvation and we are meant to believe him. If that has messed up my thinking I’m pretty glad for it because I will never need to deny what the savior said will save me

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭

a that’s what we’re “ saved “ from and how we are saved by hearing and believing the everlasting Gospel and if we refuse it

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s not at all a mystery if we accept the gospel of the kingdom and don’t reject it we’re going to be saved . If we reject it and invent an alternate path we’re going to be judged along with the world

Can you explain the difference between, "called" and "chosen", in the two verses you quoted below?

Mat 20:16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. G1588

Mat 22:14
For many are called, but few are chosen. G1588

Not trying to answer for cv5, but something for you to think about; Many are called as God's elect, (the wide gate), but few of God's elect are chosen to to be revealed the truths of Jesus doctrine, by the revelation of the Holy Spirit (the strait gate). that leads them to that abundant, and joyful life in this present world.
