Decades ago, I developed a habit that seems to be foreign to many here. For instance, when you post a Scripture reference, I open it up. BUT I seldom read it as my first interest. I go, usually, to the top of the chapter to see whom this is being addressed to, and then I read the many verses that precede the one you posted.

It often shows that the true meaning of the verse posted is totally opposite of your intent to make it sound.

In this case, especially, I would suggest you try this. (It's Romans 2)

First of all, you will find this is addressed to "those of you who judge." That would include judging Grace Preachers. Then if you keep reading every verse until you get to the one you wanted to make out to be talking to Grace Believers.... you might want to stop, and go back and read the verse JUST BEFORE 24..... That would be 23. (Strange, but Scripture seems to work that way.)

There, you will find that things get a bit more specific. That verse is directly talking to those who boast in keeping the law. And, the verse you quoted tells those people (Specifically, you, from what you tell us about all your "obeying.") that it is THEM who blaspheme the name of God among the Gentiles.

And, "No", even your cohorts do not buy your claim of never sinning, so that verse means you...... NOT people who admit that, despite trying, they still break commandments all the time.
The spiritual truth behind that verse has nothing to do with law. It pertains to those who claim to speak in GOD's name, yet are hypocrites and liars, and thereby bring shame to his name among unbelievers.

Right about 8:30, this guy does just what Prince was saying we should not be doing. Your first man ADDS words to the Bible, immediately assuming the "destruction" talked about is Hell, (and actually replacing Christ's words with his own, though he keeps calling it "destruction.")

Even if you choose to say Prince is wrong in what he thinks this "destruction" is, he did not change the actual words of the Bible to say something it does not say.

THIS is the kind of deception that runs rampant in many churches. Prince may be right, he may be wrong, but he is not changing the words written right there, and asking you to believe this new, introduced and substituted word was actually written there.

Does he also probably do some of that same thing? More than likely. But so do ALL preachers. We should be mature and wise enough to see these things in ANY preacher, and chew the meat, while spitting out the bones. And I will take exception to ALL of them when they do that sort of thing. But you brought up THIS particular video, and it is THIS specific video I am talking about right now.

I heard a testimony of a guy who said this every time he smoked a cigarette and not much later he stopped. It's good to confess that until you believe it, but if that goes on for years I think you just need a good preaching that brings conviction and that demon kicked out. One guy on another forum tried to stop for years and fasted and prayed, then he gave up and God said: With this I am well pleased. You can't do it. He had to confess that he died and rose with Christ and was completely set free. Didn't even get deliverance prayer. It both works, but if one thing doesn't work it's handy that there are more ministries.
My testimony is not entirely different. Sadly, smoked for a some time after my conversion. But then God provided the ability for me to quit when it seemed that I was powerless, on my own, to quit.

My brother was nearing the end of his terminal disease. My mom, I and a hired person were each doing 8 hour shifts providing home hospice care. Because of brain lesions, he had been unable to speak for many weeks by this time. So it was really just sitting there by his bedside waiting for him to die.

One day, utterly distraught, I stepped out for a smoke. I lit up but tasted nothing. I felt nothing. I looked at the cigarette and sure enough it was lit and I was seeing smoke off of it and coming out of my lungs when I exhaled, but still I could not even sense it physically because of my intense emotional state. It was surreal.

Then I heard the Father speak to me in my spirit "son, it will never be easier to quit than when it is not doing anything for you." Not surprisingly, He was right!

I never smoked a cigarette again, but did transition to a nicotine free life using various oral products over time.

Now, this is God in His Mercy and Grace. I am fully convinced to this day that He chose the absolute minimally painful method to empower me to get free that was still adequate in power to achieve the result.

Perhaps it goes without saying that I REALLY use to like cigarettes!

Did you even READ 23?

Romans 2:23New International Version (NIV)
23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

You who boast in Christ, do you dishonor God by not doing what Christ says? For just as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the unbelievers because of you".

So now you are also "inventing" Scripture? I think Joseph Smith did that, too.

I give several people here a hard time, but at least most of them are arguing from a reasonable point of simply a different interpretation than mine. Not mostly, fantasy.

Heres a spiritual truth.

I never really watched Prince before but I made it a point to watch him yesterday and today and I am thankful to have given Prince an opportunity to speak for himself

I decided to watch him BECAUSE of the fuss YOU and several others have made and the vitriol, mocking, derision and hatred. ..yes...HATRED..you and the same several others, have shown in your replies to Willie and others AND towards Joseph Prince

Yesterday he spoke about praying in tongues and today he spoke about the love and grace of God.

Praise God...I will keep on watching him!

I started watching Joyce Meyer for the same reason and well hallelujah glory to God I watch her regularly now...not every day, but pretty often

I have pretty good discernment and I trust God will keep me by His Spirit

This thread was created to bring dishonor but I would like to testify that God has used it for His own purposes!

I'm not pentecostal but I have used some time worn familiar phrases they use just for the fun of it

So yeah...Glory to God !

It's like trying to reason with a three year-old who lives in his imagination. LOL
That would be better for them if it were true

Instead, we have a case of the blind leading the blind

Thank God...Jesus still opens blind eyes

No end of sarcastic mocking

Thats what comes when you deny the Holy Spirit...God lets you have a different spirit...depending on your personality, it might be anger. ..or self rightousness...or unbelief...or mockery which is pretty much the entire reason the op started this thread

For any "Newbees" here. I really don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. There is not a "teacher" out there that I don't feel has some things wrong. That goes for Prince as well as a woman I actually owe my physical life to, and will always love, Joyce Meyer... as well as John MacArthur and his friends. And, I know of no "False Teachers" (except for those who worship some voodoo god, or something).

Even the man who began my very own denomination (the best I have ever been in, BTW) doesn't always preach things I agree with. So please don't get the idea that I worship any of these preachers.... and even though I will talk about the "preacher idols" of others, I know, full well, that they do not actually "worship" them, either.

No man on the face of the Earth has it ALL correct. And probably most of us miss the actual "truth" of certain doctrines (teachings) by a long shot. But, I do encourage all of us to live our own esoteric beliefs with all the hope and sincerity that we can.

Specifically, Israel during Isaiah's time. Christ by the spirit of GOD applied it to his time, and I by the spirit of GOD applied to our time.

Pretty basic stuff. Spiritual Discernment 101. I could see that when I was a babe in Christ.
