Re: "Super Duper" Christians - Cultists, Charismatics and Non-Denominational Christi

We are talking about churches, not individuals. And all Christian churches affirm that Jesus Christ is God.
Affirming that Jesus is God and believing God the Father and God the Son speak the same, are both God, are two different things.

Some even say they only obey Christ so if Christ wasn't recorded as stating something, what the Father said wasn't valid. That is no way to believe Christ is God!

I'm not a super duper anything; the simple truth is Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and if my words coming from heart, mind and soul aren't good enough for some folks, they can pucker my mule because I couldn't care less.

No not really, who is to say what is in their hearts? Yes Jesus is God but I don't think Jesus said to be his follower one had to believe he was God. This is the issue with denominations and doctrines what if a person truly has a blazing fire and passion for God and has a heart that is rich in love and who shines the light of Christ in everything they do yet doesn't believe Jesus is God?

If such a church has many people like this in it then are they not a Christian church? is the belief that jesus is God what makes a Christian church? God looks at the heart not the doctine
Then they would be cult members.

  1. Thou Christ of burning, cleansing flame,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
Thy blood-bought gift today we claim,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
Look down and see this waiting host,
    Give us the promised Holy Ghost;
    We want another Pentecost,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
  2. God of Elijah, hear our cry:
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
To make us fit to live or die,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
To burn up every trace of sin,
To bring the light and glory in,
    The revolution now begin,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
  3. ’Tis fire we want, for fire we plead,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
The fire will meet our every need,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
For strength to ever do the right,
For grace to conquer in the fight,
For pow’r to walk the world in white,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
  4. To make our weak hearts strong and brave,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
To live a dying world to save,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!
Oh, see us on Thy altar lay
    Our lives, our all, this very day;
To crown the off’ring now we pray,
Send the fire, send the fire, send the fire!

Re: "Super Duper" Christians - Cultists, Charismatics and Non-Denominational Christi

he did speak of himself like this but he wasn't saying he was god in that quote he said he was the one who testifies of the father but while I believe he is God I don't feel right deciding if a person is saved by if they believe he was God or not. If a person is on fire for Christ yet doesn't believe or is not sure if he is god does that make them not saved?
Blain, John chapter eight has Jesus saying He came from heaven and is the One He said He was all along, and Who is that? He claimed to be the I AM. They picked up stones to kill Him when He said that. Why? The religious leaders considered it blasphemy because Jesus equated Himself with God.

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."

Seems that nothing has changed. The power is mocked by some, but experienced by those with the heart to seek Jesus full gospel

13
Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If the power has ceased, and they were in the last days........?????

No brainer.

nothing at all "ceased" concerning his power. It says so right there.

What has ceased is men seeking what Jesus commanded.

Its a straw man thingy.

A better line of thought would be that concept in reverse.

Example " how can a human be inhabited by God and be oblivious to who he really is"?

The question concerned whether or not it is a salvation issue to consider/believe Jesus is God, or if it is a non-essential doctrine. Jesus said, "If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." That clearly makes it a salvation issue. Jesus was plainly equating Himself with God, and saying you must believe this.

Well, technically blain "could be " right,in that I was educated about Jesus post salvation. But other believers set me straight right away. And of course I believed them.

Awesome stuff, getting saved. I remember it well.

What I don't get ,is why he is pursuing an obscure straw man.

Don't worry. When I was your age, I didn't have much experience with a wide variety of churches either. Only about 6-7 by then. On the good side, since the first one I did go to did teach me some of that crap, I think God has been kind to you. Visit more churches if you want the experience.

They dont teach any 'crap'. They are not any religon or hold any belief system. And you if went to a church that taught things like

If you're smart, stick with churches that don't give that experience... which you seem smart enough to have done. (Or it was fully by the grace of God you didn't fall for some of it.)
Thats right they taught the same 'crap' that Jesus Christ taught. I dont need advice on what religon you think I should change to, because I have these experiences you seem to have missed out on. You act like you are so much wiser but have not experienced or understood what I have. If you can not understand me but I understand you then why would I listen to you?

Matthew
18

1 .) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2 .) And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 .) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 .) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 .) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

I find it interesting that the some of the most faithful in the bible had issues.....and Jesus was highly impressed with those who would abase themselves instead of boasting of their "righteousness"

At the end of the day Jesus was clear....After you have done all you can do to...

a) Not think too highly of yourself
b) Consider yourself a lowly servant only doing that which you have been commanded to do.......

We are sinners saved by grace and that is all we are.....(yes children of God which is awesome) but nonetheless, we are undeserving, sinners saved by grace.....we all stink when we sweat!

One dynamic. Not an all encompassing protocol.

David did not humble himself before Goliath. Nor his wife. He humbled himself before God,and Saul.

Likewise,Jesus did not humble himself before the religious leaders or the devils, but did so before the Father, his disciples, and those with needs

Re: "Super Duper" Christians - Cultists, Charismatics and Non-Denominational Christi

Not sure how you are comparing D's comment and mine to your thoughts here. However, IF you are saying that Jesus did not humble Himself before men, you are mistaken.

But that was not the point of my post..........just saying.

D's comment:

a) Not think too highly of yourself
b) Consider yourself a lowly servant only doing that which you have been commanded to do.......

and the Scriptures I posted bear this idea out in my opinion......... :)

The anointing is the equipping to do a job.

I can look back, and see how fortunate I am to have been birthed into the kingdom during the charismatic revival .

A few weeks later, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Elisha is a lesson. A lesson in desire and tenacity. We can see from his example,it those 2 ingredients are removed we would have no Elisha.

IOW,if you don't want the power Jesus gave, fine, but don't clog up the road for those that do.
