When I was younger I was a completely different person and have had a lot of tattoo work done. Some people condemn me because of this ink and say it goes against God. I would tell them the bible says to decorate your temple and this body is my spirits temple. In Deuteronomy 14:2 it is written that there should be no mark on the body of symbols or names of different gods. In Timothy it is implied that the body should not be a source of drawn attention. So, should one feel ashamed for tattoos? Does this ink label someone and that can never change?
well the bible says not to make unto thee any graven image, but it's a sin so ashamed yes,but any sin all but one is forgivable so don't feel too down, though personally I don't see reason for tattoos myself.

must admit i have entertained the idea of having a ring of cherubim, palm trees and open flowers put on my leg. ((re: 1 Kings 6:29, etc.))

didn't do it. i'm wishy-washy, in general. these days if it came to it i'd go with
השייכות ליהוה
on my right hand instead, which means "belonging to YHVH" as it says here:

This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’s,’
another will call on the name of Jacob,
and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’
and name himself by the name of Israel.

(Isaiah 44:5)

i wouldn't condemn anyone over a tattoo. that's bonkers IMO, though i understand devotion & why some people are offended by them - of course i think it's wise to try not to offend them, but your body doesn't belong to them, and what place does anyone have to accuse anyone about what they did before they knew Christ, especially?

a story, for whatever it's worth: i met a young Jewish man while working at a remote site once, who had Hebrew script on his right arm. i asked him what it meant - it said "
Elohim" - and that was the touching off point for a conversation we had, where we praised God together. we never would have spoken if not for his tattoo.

Correct! It is always about what hearts motivation is or was. Some have gotten tattoos AFTER meeting God. Such as "Jesus saves" or a bible verse, etc. Did they do it for attention to themselves? Did they do it from great love? THAT involves heart motivation.

Man judges outwardly but God looks at the heart.
my cousins have tattoos one cousin in honor of his passed away father and the other she has one as a reminder of husband whom is alive so yeah despite it being a sin God forgives this sort of thing.

And I read your poems.
You can write well also.
Maybe you will do a sort of...Christian comic book with illustrations.
Don't laugh, but my favorite movies are DC comics and Marvel. I love any plot of good versus evil! :)

not any moreso than having ears and a nose and eyelashes label a person that way, friend!

Jesus redeems, and it starts in the soul, by His Spirit, and spreads outward. He works the change, and He's much greater than any of our skin, which all turns back to dust eventually - and He will remake even that: that day is the day we all wait for. even unmarked skin needs to be remade; it's no different. no one will ever get into the kingdom by laser removal lol :p

I was really hoping it showed the attention to detail but I will definitely change to more light hearted. It was just what I had on me at the time. They are bit old now

I personally would not get tattooed, and I don't
like them in general, especially on women.
I see it as graffiti on a building, I.e., vandalism.

i personally dig graffiti -- i have my preferences and my dislikes, like with any art. but that's how i see it; art. even if someone tagged my own house, i'd have to smile while i washed it off ((unless it was really groovy - i might leave it there!))

I like your design idea and it can be a good icebreaker

I was a wild child. I see it as art personally but as time goes on it only draws the wrong intentions as well as an unspoken judgment.

if it were me, and i found my own self offended by it, either personally or because of what it brought out in others, i'd think about having it covered up with another tattoo before i thought about removing it. i have a couple of friends who are very accomplished tattoo artists, and i've seen how they can change things artfully.

but try to see those negative conversations your tattoos might start as opportunities; turn the conversation from condemnation to redemption :)

I saw the attention to detail. And the pic of the grim reaper (combined with your poems) made me see that you could do comics. I wasn't ragging on you. My art teacher told me my work was very disturbing and "in your face" and told me I reminded her of...the guy who painted "The Scream" whose name I can't remember right now. And that was when I was doing self-portraits. And my intent was NOT to be "in-your-face or disturbing, and I was going for extreme realism, but...I guess it was just disturbing haha!

I think disturbing is good for an artist. It means your work, whether drawing, painting or writing, has affected the viewer. :)
