Yes, and he's saying it doesn't make sense...
What does this mean?

Faith without works does not justify (James 2:24), because love is greater than faith (1 Cor. 13:13). When Christ talked to St. Peter in the end of the Gospel of St. John, Christ asked St. Peter, "Lovest thou Me?" He did not ask St. Peter "Believest thou upon Me?"

Um peter was already saved. Why would Jesus say believ you in me? You don't make sense.

If faith is all that is required of St. Peter, why did Christ ask St. Peter if he loved Him?
Because Peter sinned three times, He denied his savior. Peter was broken. He knew what he had done, and his strength was Gone.

I am sure Peter believed as many believed. What is jesus going to do. I am sure he waited for this long list of "works" Jesus was going to give Peter to make up for his sin. What did Jesus do? He did not even confront him. He gave him strength by telling him to do what jesus already told him before he died he would be sent to do.

What a great love our father has! Jesus did not condemn Peter. Did not say you are no good to me. Or even confront him on what he dide. He asked him, Do you love me (even though you did what you did)? Then I forgive you. go do what what I have spent three years teaching you to do.

And Christ then required works of St. Peter, saying, "Feed My sheep".
Of course, Christ asked St. Peter this question 3 times because St. Peter denied Christ 3 times.
No where do you get this crap scott? pray you came up with this yourself and it was not from your church, or your church is more depraved than I thought. He did not require him to do anything. It was ALREADY Peters job to do it. Jesus was encouraging peter. I know you screwed up (whe he said it three times) But I forgive you anyway, Go do what I wanted you to do to begin with. Don't worry about your sin, I forgive you.

Without works, we are dead to Christ. Faith without works is dead, and can not save (James 2).
Yep your right. If one has zero works, he has zero faith, and since he has no faith, he is not saved.

But this is not what your preaching Scott. Your saying people can have some works (proving their faith was not dead). and till not make it to heaven. This is not what scripture teaches.

No faith without works will ever make us alive in Christ.
We cannot earn salvation by our works: but we cannot have true faith without any works.
Good works.

Yet you teach you are saved by your works. You just contradicted yourself.

Spiritual faith is a fruit of the Spirit and we must be born of the Spirit before we have access to spiritual faith Gal 5. The natural man does not have spiritual faith because he has not the Spirit and will not seek after God, 1 Cor 2:14. We are not justified eternally by our faith, but only by Christ's faith, Gal 2:16.
What do you hope for your future? Why choose God?

Why do people buy into this lie of faith plus works?

They use big words and things which sound good to try to propogate their false Gospel which will do nothing but lead people to hell.

They go around and call the Gospel "Gods commands" When God has given many commands. The law being one of them. If following Gods commands is Gospel. then not only do we have to follow the commands given by God to the church, But his commands given in the law. Thus the only way we could possibly be saved in this way is NEVER to break any of these commands (be perfect) The problem is no one has done this but Christ. Thus he, and only he, could make the sacrifice necessary to grant us eternal life.

The penalty of sin is death. If you lie, Your penalty is death, the only way to be "redeemed" from this sin is to either suffer death yourself. Or have someone pay that debt in your place. Going to church, Being baptized, Taking the eucharist. Making penance, all these things will never remove the penalty of that sin, which God says is death (separation from him)

so why are people insistant on adding works to grace, and twisting it to show we must earn salvation. When no man could ever earn salvation, because no matter how much work he does, he would never make up for the penalty imposed on Him "DEATH"

we are either alive in Christ. or we are dead to him. No amount of work will ever make us alive in Christ.
Why choose God?Why preach? You say your saved by faith,So tell us what is your hope, and whats faith do for you?

You just contradicted Saint James (James 2:24). Again!
You don't know what Scripture teaches because you're following 494 years of Protestant private traditions of men. There is no contradiction in anything I said. You contradict not only Scripture, but how the Church Fathers interpret Scripture. You also lose your temper by swearing, proving the falsehood of your statements.
You're listening too much to Martin Luther and John Calvin, instead of listening to the Bible.

John 6:41- 58

Words to the Jews

41 Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that came down out of heaven.” 42 They were saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” 52 Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.”

I really don't think that has ANYTHING to do with predestination. This has to do with the Jews grumbling.
You didn't choose to be born did you? Would you say that it was not in your control to be born to your parents? You didn't choose them right? Could you even say that it was pre-determined that you would be born to your particular parents? The Lord wanted you to be born and He wanted you to be born of certain parents.

Same thing with being born again. You don't choose. The Lord decides.

It doesn't get any more clear than John 6:44, really. You can plug your ears and cover your eyes and stamp your feet but you can't stop God's Love for You. John 6:45 is pretty much re-iterating the same thing.

What does Calvinism do with these verses?

John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom 10:9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Eph 1:13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

There are many more. Calvinists seem to cling to John 6:44 and Romans 9, and either totally ignore or say the above verses only apply to the people God predestined to be saved. They do not say that. God loves all people, and wants everyone to choose to come to Him and believe. God gave everyone free will, and He will not override it.

Eternal life in heaven. I choose God for the same reason that Simon Peter did. Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.John 6:68.

Peter and I were both saved eternally by the blood of Jesus on the cross, just as all of God's elect were (those that the Father gave him).

Surrounded? I don't think so. Even if I was "surrounded", it doesn't matter. Truth is still truth and I will stand for it.

But since there are some Calvinists here on this forum, I'm sure you feel more comfortable promoting your beliefs. Nobody likes being the Lone Ranger.

I am sure glad you are on this forum, Shroom, no one else sticks as close with me as you do. I think that I would feel sad without you. As I have said before, "no one can understand the whole truth unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to them" I was wandering in the wilderness of unbelief for forty years, just as you are now, until the truth was revealed to me.

The scriptures do not give us a complete picture of heaven. It says it is like looking through a glass darkly but when we are changed we will see it like it is. I personally think it will be better than what we can immagin.

If you believe God chose to save only some, and that He does not love all man, the truth has still not been revealed to you.

So what does that mean for the verses following? Does he change subject from one verse to the next?
