Stick with scripture and we'll be OK .. Keep your private interpretations to yourself and we'll be OK ..
I'm proving that outdated prophecy was of private interpretation. Where scripture is not.

This happened with the Apostles. Go drink some gasoline if you think it's for you.[/QUOTE]

The metaphors in that parable is applied to the disciples and is not dependent on the purpose they perform "as sent ones'.(apostles) Adding meaning to "sent one" and therefore dividing the believers is not how we can hear the our father in heaven . All believers are sent by God with the gospel . The 12 were set aside for another purpose.which is destroyed by those who desire to make the disciple more than " sent ones" the meaning of the word.

When looking at the parable in Mark 16 the proper tools for rightly dividing the parable must be applied or the unseen gospel understanding will remain hidden .(2 Corinthians 4:18) Which is very dangerous not to look for the hidden especially when it come to drinking poison. Drinking poison simply presents an opportunity for Satan a murderer from the beginning not abiding in the word of God. Satan takes advantage in that application and applies the poison of a false gospel .

It would be no different to me than if the Bible said jump out of airplane 5 miles high without a parachute .The way those who seek after a signs and wonder gospel .If they drink poison the wondering is removed and sign of a dead body will appear .

Poison is used through the bile in that way .

Psalm 58:4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

Psalm 140:3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

Romans 3:13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the
poison of asps is under their lips:

3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of
deadly poison.

Drinking poison throughout the bible is a metaphor that speaks of the false gospel coming from false apostles .Jesus called them that make the word of God without effect a brood of vipers. (vipers have poison)

The believer that do not go above all things written in the law and the prophets (sola scriptura) will not be affected by false doctrine (poison) . .

Drinking poison is for those who the bible identifies as those who fall backward slain by the Holy Spirit, for that exact reason adding oral traditions to the word of God the poison of Asps

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (the gospel) They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick (pray) , and they shall recover.Mark 16: 17-18

I would offer go to the foundation of the doctrine of tongue found in Isiah 28 and then look at parable like that in Mark. The unseen spiritual understanding can be compared to other portions that add to the foundation of the doctrine.of tongue which is simply prophecy the language of God. Our new tongue.

The tongue of prophets, sent one (apostles)

Why stop your ears and attack me without hearing a different view?

Have you looked at the foundation view in Isaiah 28 in regard to those who fall backward slain in the spirit ? It can useful to use against the poison drinkers that stop up their ears and make the word of God without effect..

Will you search it out?

Psalm 58:4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

Good place to begin speaking about those who mock others because they cannot understand them.(The understanding hidden)

But again looking to the foundation of tongues in chapter 28 . Why is God with stammering lips or mocking lips mocking those brothers and sisters who fall backward slain in the spirit?

Perhaps the doctrine of tongues could help them if they knew what the sign represented . . .to not make a mockery of sola scriptural by adding oral traditions of men which does make the tongues doctrine without effect.

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem Isaiah 28:11-14

The next chapter he reminds us of those who refuse to hear all things written in the law and the prophets, without the oral traditions of men. As some do make the word of God, the Tongue of God without effect.

For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Isaiah 29:10

I think 28 refers to judgment and occupation by foreigners. Also exile. That's how Paul uses tongues as a sign to unbelieving Jews in 1 Corinthians. A sign of occupation by foreigners.

The whole world spoke one language until the judgment of God on Nimrod at the tower of Babel. Diverse languages can hardly be seen as a blessing from God.

What is more frustrating than attempting to speak with someone who cannot comprehend what you are saying? Trying to understand what they are saying in return.

Tongues and Prophecy were scripture before they became written and passed around. They ceased when scripture became complete.
So what Scripture did Philip's daughters write? What Scripture did the Corinthian believers write?

The answer in both cases is "None", yet Philip's daughters prophesied and the Corinthian believers both prophesied and spoke in tongues. Further, Agabus was known as a prophet before he prophesied about the famine. How can this be?

In other words, neither is necessarily just the vehicle for the delivery of Scripture. While your experience may be different, I have never come across anyone who believes that a message delivered through tongues or prophecy today is an addition to Scripture, yet this is what many cessationists claim.

This is the bare bones record in Acts we have scripture to prove. Scripture only supports this much.
So then it is clear that Scripture does not limit to the ways mentioned, correct?

Wrong. That's when they were SEALED. Yeshua/Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection and breathed on them and said Receive the Holy Spirit. (John 20:22).

In Acts 2 was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit - they were baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Greek clearly shows you to be in error.

Jesus did in fact appear to His disciples and breathed the Holy Spirit upon them. This is the moment they were born again and sealed unto eternal life. What followed is clearly explained in Acts as a filling not a baptism because that occurred in John 20.

Acts is the full endowment of the Holy Spirit that the disciples might minster to all the people. Power to be witnesses and proclaim the gospel message.

There remains only one baptism of the Holy Spirit and it is a baptism unto eternal life. Many fillings of the Holy Spirit for power to be the witnesses for Christ we are called to be.

Wrong Roger, you are in error.

In John 20:22 - Yeshua/Jesus SEALED His disciples with the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 2 - They received the BAPTISM with the Holy Spirit which is the FIRST TIME a believer is FILLED with the Holy Spirit.

We are to stir up the Gift of the Holy Spirit within us and be CONTINUALLY FILLED - it's a daily choice.

We are to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

This is all we have from scripture. No scripture = no faith, no faith = sin. We sin if we fill in the blanks with our own ideas.

You simply place the cart before the horse. One is baptized unto eternal life the moment they believe on Christ and bid Him save them from their sins. The filling with power can happen at any time.

The primary focus and the primary purpose of Christ is on the moment of salvation not the filling with power to serve the Lord. Until we are His we can serve nothing but self.

The OP is trying to promote false doctrine. So how about this:

THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVEN TO OVER 3,000 BELIEVING JEWS AND NOT ONE OF THEM SPOKE IN TONGUES!
Show me where the Bible says whether they spoke in tongues or not. How do you know? Were you there?

If that is your theory, then you must feel rather dirty and sinful with all those theories of yours not backed up by scripture.

They all come from Azusa Street.
I never read anything about them bringing snakes to Azusa Street. It is unlikely that any of those fellows in that picture ever went to Azusa Street.

Most Pentecostals, I'd venture to say well over 99.9% don't practice snake handling in church. People who work at zoos may attend. There are some churches up in the Appalachian mountains that practice snake handling.

Yes everyone received the baptism of the Holy Spirit the moment they believed on Christ.
Can you show us from that Bible that this is what is meant by 'baptize you with the Holy Ghost...' in the Bible? In Acts, it is used of two times when the Spirit came and empowered people to speak in tongues.
The Holy Spirit quickens the lost soul the moment one believes in Christ. One is not saved until they are baptized by the Holy Spirit.
Can you show us from the scriptures that baptism with the Holy Ghost refers to the quickening work rather than empowerment.

Titus 3:5 explains it as a washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
Can you show us where the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Spirit is called baptism with the Holy Spirit?

Thanks,
