The Holy Spirit testifies to this in the New Covenant.

Hebrews 10:14-18 (NASB)
[SUP]14[/SUP] For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

[SUP]15 [/SUP] And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,

[SUP]16 [/SUP] "THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART, AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM," He then says,

[SUP]17 [/SUP] "AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."

[SUP]18 [/SUP] Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Amen Thank You Jesus!!

For a gift of under just under $40 Joseph prince gives you a book that reveals

'what really happened at the cross'

Is the Bible in need of doctrines of men? Is GOD's word not enough?

Certainly not... Thank GOD for the Holy Spirit.

I also sometimes feel that there is too much human interference in His Word. We often drive ourselves insane searching for meaning behind every single word that we often miss the "gem" in some of its simplicity. There is nothing wrong with learning or listening to the wisdom and knowledge of others, but primarily I believe we were given the Word so that everyone can understand it, and I believe that depending on where we are on our journey with the Lord, He chooses to reveal the wisdom in His Scriptures to us.

Good morning Ftm...I believe this also, so many people rearranging the bible to fit with what they believe, giving out their version which is so dangerous for new believers, i guess people just can`t help them selves... xox...

the lords prayer is like one of the major things that have kept me grounded in Christianity. its one of the most potent weapons we have when confronting spiritual enemies. to claim that it only applies to a brief time period doesn't really make sense to me. i don't know why anyone would try and discourage someone praying in a way Jesus instructed us. it can lead to almost anything being taken as a only during this time period. last supper bread and wine was only for that time period? baptism by the Spirit was only for that time period? do i need to dig up other passages in the bible that might support those ideas? how is that helping anyone?

what is truth he asked? you know it when you hear it she replied. the believers are caught up in the law without Spirit and the non believers don't want to hear it at all. the only path to God is Jesus but just about any path can suddenly lead you to Jesus. we get enlightenment from Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:14 mark 4 14. teach the word, the Spirit will bring understanding far better than anything we can do

Some ancient landmarks need to be moved aside. I have the Lord's Prayer or The Disciple's Prayer up in my house but I now read it with more understanding than I read it years before. We are not forgiven BECAUSE we have forgiven others. We are forgiven because in Christ we are forgiven. That truth stands above whether we forgive or don't forgive. We love God because HE FIRST loved us.

We as believers have to read this prayer in the context of the Cross. After Jesus died and rose again., He also sent His Spirit to be with us. Now we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. Unlike any other time (covenant) The Holy Spirit came and went before Jesus but He was not promised to stay with us and never leave us until Jesus left and promised to come again for us. He left us in good hands.

So much to learn from the Bible even us old dogs can still learn many major truths that are new to us but as old as the Bible.
People were never forgiven just because they were forgiving. Neither before the cross, nor after.

In my opinion, this verse means that when we are not forgiving others, we are proving we do not have a real faith. Its similar to not having any deeds after believing.

We know that we are forgiven when the Holy Spirit is inside of us and is leading us to forgive others.

I have a Scriptural reference for the Lord's Prayer........guess I should just post the "link?"

I don't think it is actually the "Lord's Prayer," because the prayer He prayed is found in the 17th Chapter of John. So this prayer is the one He gave us to pray........and as He told us to pray this prayer, I don't really care what others see as "truth" or whatever, the most obvious thing is to obey what Christ said, not seek to find some hidden shelf life to certain Commandments. But, now, that may just be me.

I agree and I also recognize the "fur will fly" if some things are being challenged from what we have been taught. I had the same things happen to me as I was learning of the grace of God in Christ's completed work for us. I still balk at some things because of some of my traditions handed down to me.

The renewing of our minds are paramount to true transformation by the Holy Spirit as we behold the goodness of the Lord.

We can also be "grace Pharisees" and try to make others experience the same grace that we have seen. All of that is in the Lord's hands.

No one should "lord it over your faith." I don't care who they are - no leader has the right to dominate others. We often see this being done in Christiandom.

We see in in some of those that went to bible school or seminary that try to "lord it over the faith of others". This behavior is not of God so I encourage people to just ignore this type of behavior and walk with their Lord and Father in the way that they have for us.

We are all at different places in our walk with the Lord and in growing in the grace of knowledge of Him. We all need each other. We are all a part of the body of Christ.

This is a good topic. But people need to take some time and have willingness to listen for what is really being said. You obviously have not stated anywhere on these threads that what Jesus said before the cross doesn't apply to us.

I have been saved since 1982 but only heard about the differences in the covenants about 5yrs ago. Everything changed after the cross. There are topics Christians need to hear about like there is a difference between disciples and sons. Just like you tried to share here Bruce.
Understanding different covenants and learning things that were required in one is not required in another. We believers are not under the law but under grace. Major difference.

The whole reason many of us Christians come here to CC is to learn about the Bible and discuss it. So this is an excellent topic and one that will help believers grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It's all about seeing Jesus in the Bible. We have to learn to rightly divide the Word of truth. It's our calling. Amen!!
I agree too about the understanding of the 2 covenants and sometimes this can "conflict" with some church teachings and some times it just needs clarification too and defined more clearly so that there is no confusing of the two.

I always ask myself 3 questions about truth or a teaching.

1) Does it make Jesus bigger in your heart when you see His work and majesty?

( Or does it bring fear and insecurity because you are not "doing" enough to stay saved? )

2) Does it make you depend on Jesus and His finished work?

( or does it depend on what you do and depend on yourself?)

3) Does it make you fall deeply in love with your Lord, our Father and with all people?

(Or does it make you view others as accursed, hated by God...etc - even though He loves them so much He sent His Son to die for them )

If I can answer these questions in the affirmative - then it is the good news of the grace of Christ.

We can view scriptures through the lens of the Old Covenant and then try to mix in a little of the New Covenant and we end up in mess of "working to maintain" our own righteousness for going to heaven.

When ever we don't factor in the finished work of Christ nor the real purpose for Jesus dying for us - the fact that God loves us dearly and He is not looking for ways to keep people from Him - we will end up in error as we are mixing up the covenants.

Bearing fruit stems from the life of Christ in us. He is the Vine we are the branches. The branch does not produce it's own fruit. It bears the life of the Vine.

The fruit of the Spirit being produced is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, meekness, goodness, faith and self-control.

Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit of God living in us - not a product of self-effort in the flesh. There are counterfeits of all these fruit that the flesh can try to generate but they are not from God.

There is good fruit and bad fruit of the flesh - but it is still flesh. Outwardly these are sometimes hard to discern. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil had both types of fruit on it. Don't eat from that tree.

Eat from the tree of life - Christ Himself who is inside of us wanting to bear His fruit in and through us to a hurt and dying world as well as to our fellow brethren. We are one with Him in the spirit.

Let's keep beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord and the Holy Spirit will transforms us outwardly to reflect our true nature in our new creations in Christ - created in righteousness and holiness.

LOL..that made me laugh out loud.

Did you know that there were no Wise Men at the birth of Jesus as is commonly believed?

Just wait until all the churches that have the Wise Men from the East in their nativity scenes hear that one.

They will want to do this for sure to them...

Exactly Brother! Jesus brings liberty to the captives. Jesus Christ has given us His Spirit and with Him comes a boldness and a liberty that the law and Mosses never could bring.
I have been looking at "forgiveness" in relation to the Old Covenant way and the New Covenant way which is based on what Christ has already done for us in His finished work and found this interesting fact. I think it might be enlightening to do a study on this.

– “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” – Mat 6:14.

The Greek word for Forgive – “aphēte.”

– “Forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” – Col 3:13.

The Greek word for Forgiving/Forgave – “charizomenoi/echarisato

– “But one whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for your sakes in the presence of Christ,” – 2 Cor 2:10.

The Greek word for Forgive/Forgiven – “charizesthe/kecharismai

– “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you” – 2 Eph 4:32. The Greek word for Forgive/Forgiven – “kecharismai/echarisato

Interestingly the root word for forgive in Matthew is “aphiémi” – means to release, send away.

Then the root word for forgive in Paul’s letter is “charizomai” means – graciously give, show FAVOR to.

Under Law – Forgive or You will not be not forgiven

Under Grace – Forgive, because You have been forgiven

Amazing grace - everyday we discover new things about the work our Lord did for us because of His great love and grace.

Thank God we have the "Forgiver" in our hearts and we can graciously forgive knowing we have been forgiven because of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is our true new nature in our new creation that is in Christ.

Ephesians 1:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness ( the release/sending away of sins - aphesis ) of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

It's amazing the pass that the false teacher gets here: "You're a false teacher, I don't agree with your doctrine, but you're such a nice guy though!"

Uh, ya think?

Perhaps that's why we're told wolves come in, um, sheep's clothing, maybe? What does Scripture then say these are, inwardly? "Nice" means nothing in this case other than it is all sheep's clothing over a wolf, and that is exactly what a false teacher is.

Yep, and from the same one who attempts to Lord over others with his false hyper doctrine. False teacher's like him can't stand those who actually study, have degrees and know what they're talking about and then refute his heresy.

They hate competition. ;)

So, you know, poke fun at their study of the Word, ridicule them and dishonor them. Never mind 1 Timothy 5:17. :D
