That's just Catholic propaganda ... Like the Nazis who claimed to be from some pure race ..then they go about to find documents or evidence to prove what is clearly false. There is no succession in Christ ...God calls and empowers with His Holy Spirit ...if a man don't have the power of the Holy Spirit ...You can know he is not called of God.
I don't receive what you're saying a bit. You're speaking from the perspective of someone who has had everything handed to him. Back then the faith had to be passed down through godly men in order to preserve it. However, succession like everything else that men do became corrupted. Now it is grotesque. You're speaking from a very privileged position. Try not to judge too harshly.

So you admit the 'infallible popes' became corrupted,
and now it's to the point of being grotesque? (good word, btw)
When? Immediately after Peter? Or the next, or the next?
How are we to know? What gauge do we use to measure by?
You make a pretty good case for Scripture Alone. Ty.

My apologies. I must've missed some things trying to catch up reading the thread. (I'm on a tablet, and have to jump in and out from email notice to thread to stay current. It's very frustrating) Anyway, I thought you were defending the RCC and their traditions over the truth of Scripture and the belief in scripture alone and salvation by grace alone thru faith alone in Christ alone.

I am neither a supporter, not a detractor, of the RCC. I simply used what Irenaeus wrote about gnostics who he knew personally. A Catholic hater got all bent out of shape that I quoted an early church father, and tried to make it look like Irenaeus' witness about the gnostics was invalid for that reason. That's simply a guilt-by-association fallacy.

Yes Im privilege to know the truth and be filled with Gods Spirit ... These people in the RCC will conceive any lie, attack any believer or group to promote their own desires and lust for power. None of these so-called church fathers that I have read show any evidence of being a continuation of the apostolic authority or power .. These are letters of religious men trying to usurp the true faith and intention of the gospel and bring folks into bondage to a false religious system.

What bile. When did the RCC start in your opinion? Polycarp?

The "bile" is the evil that this group has committed against the truth of Christ and Gods people....Murder and rape of children prove this group is nothing less than the very seat of satan. Any writing used by the catholic church to support its ungodly desires ...is evidence against that writing being of any real value. The very fact that the RCC uses these writings in their deceptions are evidence that they cannot be trusted....

Your logic falls flat because the RCC uses the bible.

"uses" it? Yea they have used it and changed it and killed people who read it... If you mean "use" in the negative sense to dishonor it... I agree. We also know that the RCC has made claims to have early writings form the Apostles themselves and have been caught in that lie ... So to think they would not pretend to have early letters from so and so to try and promote their agenda is to deny the evil they have already proven they practice.

Yes im bais against evil and those that have proven themselves to be evil ... and my thoughts are held by many protestants who understand the history of the RCC.

Look ...me and you often agree on moral issues ...I respect your faith and desire to please God ...I hope I can respect your faith and the same time reject in absolute terms the RCC and its history...Because I cannot help but speak against the most destructive force to ever attack the true faith.

Can you respond to this post I made earlier?

Have you even studied new.modern.hyper grace? It promotes no awareness of our wretched condition in favor of only focusing on a new identity that is only righteous. In fact sin is virtually defined as acknowledging the wretched condition (except with lip service, of course, to deflect criticism). Sin is a symptom of a confused identity, i.e., taking their eyes off of their own righteousness.

My view of grace is that man finds favor in GOD's eyes in his wretched condition, and receives power and ability through the holy spirit to overcome enslavement to that wretched condition.

What is your view of grace? Are you a wretched man finding favor in GOD's eyes? Or were you a wretched man that has been transformed into the righteousness of GOD by an awareness of an identity that doesn't even need to acknowledge your wretched condition?

I think you can ask many of the grace folks on the forum and they will tell you that I speak up when I think they have crossed the line from sound doctrine into error ... as I have said before the true grace of God, overcomes sin and empowers a believer to live a godly life that honors Christ ... I agree that many are taking the truths of the gospel and using them in a carnal way...but that is never a reason to step away from the truth of the gospel of grace.

You go sit in the corner, and lament the condition you choose to see yourself staying in. I will celebrate with Jesus that He has healed me.

The mystery of godliness is great...going from the flesh into a life in the spirit is hidden for those that will seek it out...Going from the law of Moses into the Law of Christ is not understood by many people in a real living way. I respect those that desire to see holiness in the church and I respect those in the journey into the mystery .... I love those that love truth.

But grace that isn't grace isn't grace. I find your avoiding of the issue puzzling.

I don't agree with broad brush you use. Your hatred of the RCC makes you irrational.

I know what I have ...I don't know what you have ? I can recognize the spirit of Grace upon other believers, when its there ... I also know you are not the judge of when grace is real or some religious concept used by those in the flesh.
