The very last thing in the list of things Peter said was "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

WHEN did it come to pass that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved? Is this 2000 years later or is it when Jesus came the first time?
It is for ANYONE who calls on HIS NAME in any time of trouble

Even at the very last hour of their life. If they call on HIS NAME!!!

yes they will be saved!

isnt GOD awesome and gracious?

What did I change?
Go read your post again where you tell awatukee that the difference between you and him is that you believe every single word of the Bible means what it says

and then you proceed to say that star is really an asteroid and 70 weeks is really 70 weeks + 2000 years

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

The mount Zion and Jerusalem Joel is prophesying about are not the physical, they are the heavenly Zion and Jerusalem above:

Heb 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

And as for deliverance, this was from the wrath that came in war of 66-70AD that John spoke of:

Mat 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Paul stated that their "salvation" was nearer then when they first believed:

(Rom 13:11 KJV) And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation (Greek soteria) nearer than when we believed.

Paul is not speaking of eternal salvation but deliverance/rescue from the wrath to come in the Romans lifetime and the persecution at the hands of the unbelieving Jews and Jewish leadership. Paul was not projecting 1900 years and counting into the future for "salvation".

feminine of a derivative of G4990 as (properly, abstract) noun;

rescue or safety (physically or morally):

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
The fact remains that the above, which is prophecy regarding the 6th seal, has yet to be fulfilled, but will be in the future.

You would be able to challenge someone and convince them you are right only if HIS DISCIPLES hadn't asked HIM to tell them when these things would be.

But they did
And HIS explanation proved that HE was looking ahead to the final end and not to the present temple

tell me, who was at that present moment, trying to convince others that they were the Christ?
Stupid and nonsensical.

I finally see your point I think lol. Are you saying that '"the day of the Lord" and "the great and notable day of the Lord" are not the same because one has "great and notable" in front of it?
There are different Days Of The Lord. Isaiah 13

9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

So you need to know which Day of the Lord is being referred to. 'Epiphanes' means it is the day of the Revelation of the Lamb, i.e. the Second Coming.

Indeed. The day of the Lord often talks about a coming judgment on a particular nation.

There are three main Olivet accounts, Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13.

Surely it cannot be too hard to fathom what Jesus meant here?

In Luke we see Jesus coming out of the Temple after teaching, and responding to some people who are in awe of the Temple:

5 When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, he said, 6 “As for these things that you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down.”

Some followers (who appear to be the disciples) then ask him:

“Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?”

So, Jesus explains that the temple, (built in 515BC under Zerubbabel, and known as Herod's Temple) will be comprehensively destroyed and the disciples ask when this will happen and what indications will there be that it is about to happen.

Correct?
Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

This is the only place where Jesus mentions the overthrow of Jerusalem, and He said that because the disciples said, look at these lovely buildings, and Jesus said they are coming down. There was no need for Jesus to go in to detail about the overthrow of Jerusalem, for what benefit would that be.They are spiritual,or would be in a short time.

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus has not come yet,and how could it be the end of the world back then in the first century.

There are two attacks on Jerusalem,at two different time periods.

The first attack because Israel rejected Christ,so God allowed the Roman Empire to overthrow Jerusalem, and scatter the Jews in to the nations.

The second attack because Israel accepted Christ, and God brought His people back to their land, which Israel became a nation again in 1948,and will turn them to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah, and the Gentile nations will come together, and establish a kingdom that believes in no personal God,and spiritual evolution through nature, and persecute all people that hold the testimony of Jesus Christ.

God will give the world their way for 7 years, and cause all people that do not love Him to follow a kingdom based on the exaltation of people, and does not regard any god,and turn Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah, and the last three and one half years they persecute all people who hold the testimony of Jesus, and at the end of that time, all those who remain will be gathered unto Christ, and then the world will attack Israel, and God comes back with His saints, and saves Israel, and defeats the world.

Israel is blinded in part, they acknowledge the Old Testament, but not the New,for the majority, but the nation must turn to Jesus, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in,when salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles, and so all Israel shall be saved, and physical Israel will become spiritual.

First attack because they rejected Christ, very little mentioned, and it does not go in to detail.

Second attack because they accepted Christ,a lot of scriptures, and in detail.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

It is a physical overthrow of Jerualem,so why would Jesus warn them about spiritual deception, for the Roman Empire did not overthrow them to bring forth spiritual deception,or because of them accepting Christ, for they rejected Christ, but because the Jews revolted.God allowed the Roman Empire to be victorious because Israel rejected Christ.

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

These things can only be known with advanced technology, for the saints have to be able to observe the world, and what goes on in the world to see,and hear,of these things, happening.

Such was the case with Daniel, who did not understand what was told him,but was told they would understand at the end time, for they can observe the world.

Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Dan 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
Dan 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The saints shall be hated of all nations, and the Gospel preached in to all the world,as a witness to all nations, then shall come the end,for the saints will be gathered unto Jesus, and the world defeated by God.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Mat 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mat 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.

God warns us of the new age movement(1 Timothy 4:1-5),that will unify the religions, with an interpretation of the Bible,Islam, and Judaism,to fit that format(2 Timothy 4:2-4).

The Bible says the saints cannot be gathered unto Christ until there is a falling away first, and the man of sin claims to be God.

God is giving the world 7 years to have their way,and cause all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom.

The man of sin will establish peace in the Middle East, and the Gentiles will come together and say,Peace and safety, and the remainder of Jews in the world will go back to Israel, for God said He will bring the whole house of Israel back to their land, and leave none of them in the nations.

The Jews will rebuld their temple, with no hassle from the Palestinians, and for three and one half years repentance, and salvation is still available to the Gentiles, and there will be a unified religious system, with an interpretation of all religions to fit that religious system, and the ten horn kingdom, the world split in to ten sections with a leader in each section.

They will say all is vaild for spiritual enlightenment, and a hate crime for anybody to try to convert someone to their religion punishable in the international criminal court system, and will be the time they will not endure the truth of the Bible, but according to their own lusts, spiritual evolution through nature.

This is the falling away first when they will not want to hear the truth of the Bible, but according to the unified religious system, and it is a hate crime to try to convert someone to their religion, and Christianity rapidly declines in impacting the world with the truth.

The religion of Islam will respond harshly, and there will be a clash between Islam and the world,in which nuclear weapons devastate the Arab nations, which the man of sin plucks up 3 horns by the roots.

That war will be so terrible that it leaves the world without hope to achieve peace on earth, and they are in despair, and turn to the man of sin for the solution, who has been promoting the new age movement and the harnessing of nature for power, and he convinces the world that he harnessed the power of nature and obtained power, and the false prophet will do miracles in the sight of people to convince the world that the beast did achieve power through nature, and gave this power to the false prophet, and will share this power with whoever follows him.

The Bible calls the miracles, and great wonders, lying wonders, that will appear so real that if it were possible for the elect to be deceived, they would be deceived, but it is not possible for they know the truth.

The world regained hope, and surety, that there will be peace on earth, and believe that the New Age Christ can establish his kingdom, and no foe can stop him,and the deadly wound was healed, and they say,who is like unto the beast, and who can make war with him.

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The man of sin will step in to the Jews temple, and claim to be their God and Messiah,in which Jesus told the Jews who accept Jesus to run like the dickens, and pray there is nothing that can slow them down, for he will persecute all people that keep the commandments of God,and hold the testimony of Jesus Christ, and will persecute the saints for three and one half years, and all the saints that remain will be gathered unto Christ.

Dan 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces(the Roman Empire does not lose dominion until God puts them down, and although the Gentiles nations come together it is the dominion of the Roman Empire).
Dan 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them(the man of sin, beast); and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings(earlier in Daniel, pluck them up by the roots, nuclear weapons).
Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time(three and one half years).

Dan 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half(three and one half years); and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

The beast will attack Jerusalem, the Jews, and Jesus will come back with His saints, and defeat the world, and save Israel.

The first attack on Israel because they rejected Christ.

The second attack on Israel because they accepted Christ.

Zec 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
Zec 12:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Zec 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
Zec 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Zec 14:3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Zec 14:5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

Joe 3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
Joe 3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
Joe 3:3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.
Joe 3:4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
Joe 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
Joe 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
Joe 3:11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
Joe 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
Joe 3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
Joe 3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.

Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

Eze 38:18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.
Eze 38:19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;
Eze 38:20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
Eze 38:21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother.
Eze 38:22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
Eze 38:23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Zec 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

Isa 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isa 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
Isa 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
Isa 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Zec 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zec 14:17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
Zec 14:18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Eze 39:21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
Eze 39:22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
Eze 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
Eze 39:24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
Eze 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
Eze 39:26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
Eze 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
Eze 39:28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Eze 39:29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

This is the only place Jesus mentions the overthrow of Jerusalem, and does not go in to detail about it,but there is a lot of scriptures about the second attack on Jerusalem that involves the whole world.

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

After that the end time, and what is happening now,and the saints being able to observe the world, and see,and hear,of things that occur on earth, and the spiritual deception, and all nations hating the saints, and the world deceived by the man of sin,and persecution of the saints, and the gathering of the saints unto Christ.

Jesus has not come back yet,and it was not the end of the world in the first century.

There is another attack on Jerusalem in the future.

Hi Matt, I can't read the text very well. Any chance you can differentiate the scriptures?

Stupid and nonsensical.
It's stupid and nonsensical of you to think you have a better answer than THE LORD's answer to HIS DISCIPLES in Luke 21

you challenge someone to explain what is meant?

why?

the disciples asked HIM what HE meant
And HE told them

no one needs to listen to your response over THE LORD's

that is very stupid and nonsensical to think that your words would somehow be better than THE LORD's

By the way, a "friend" does not call a friend stupid and nonsensical...
And you have done more than that...
You have become derogatory, tried to intimidate me into thinking I am blaspheming, tried to ridicule me by creating a "funny thread" called "danielivet"
And you dismissed me as "being all over the place"...
(I don't remember you ever having a problem following me before this thread sir) And I suspect the reason you say "I'm all over the place" is because you can't follow me...

No sir, no longer are you considered "friend"...

No, me neither. I use FireFox with an addon called "page zoom button" that lets me make the text bigger or smaller with either a left or right click of the mouse. But it's a good thread. Everyone seems to be letting their reasonableness be known, for the Lord is at hand. I can write a long note on the Olivet. But my understanding on it is different, more scary. I found material in an obscure translation called the duTillet. So when I post the Script, it looks better to me if it's indented like so:

"And every
DAY he was teaching in the temple, but at NIGHT he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet. And early in the MORNING all the people came to him in the temple to hear him.

But at NIGHT he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet.

Peaceful Sabbath.

I had no problem reading his post at all.

Why did John not wright about the olivet disclosure?
Johns virsion of the Olivet prophecy, Revelation, chapter 6.

1-And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow;
and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

-1st horse, new testement is full of another gospel and church corruption within.

matthew 24
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

-The first and most deadly horseman is religious deception in the past allready!

The word conquer means “to come off with the victory”, that the largest organized
religious “cult”on Earth today waged the bloodiest battles ever, in the name of God.

Lamentations 2:17
The Lord hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had
commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath
caused thine enemy to rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries.

Daniel 7:25
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints
of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his
hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
The horseman has wreaked havoc on mankind with religious wars throughout history.

1 Samuel 2:10 (KJV)
The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder
upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto
his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Does this sound like the day of Pentecost?
a little, yes.

And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. (Acts 2:2)

Can't we tell that this is different from the day that fire came down upon the heads of the disciples and they were filled with the HOLY SPIRIT?

Are you saying that when the earth is destroyed and all the elements that are perishable with it by fire, that this is the same thing as the day of Pentecost?

And 2 Thesselonians 2:8, what does that mean?
my question was do you see fire as a symbol of judgement in the Scriptures?

:) i don't want to argue with you, miknik. personally, i don't understand how anyone can, by reading the Bible only, arrive at dispensationalism. but perhaps that was just me... i saw the dispensational/pre-trib view because it's what was taught in the church we were attending.

apocalyptic literature in the Bible isn't meant to be read in the same way history is. just as poetry is differently understood, or wisdom literature. apocalyptic literature is, i believe, largely symbolic. there are many resources available to show the different points of view regarding the 'end times'.

may the Lord bless you. :)

The fire coming down upon the disciples as symbolic of the HOLY SPIRIT is different from the fire Peter was talking about which will consume the enemies of GOD

I have no idea how anyone can have a problem clearly understanding that distinction regardless that the symbol of fire is the same two different and opposite things are happening

anyone who can read and understand can see that
