The great and notable Day of the Lord is the Second coming.

AD67-73, the destruction of Judea ( & Jerusalem) were the Days Of Vengeance.

Two different things completely.
So do you believe Jerusalem is going to be destroyed twice? I'm confused.

It is the great and notable (epiphanes) Day Of The Lord Peter is talking about here.

Epiphanes means Revelation, so he is talking about the Revelation Of Jesus Christ.

Will Jerusalem be destroyed twice?

Well, yes I think so. I think when Jesus returns he will destroy the 3rd Temple with the brightness of his coming. (That is my personal view)

Also consider that a day is as a thousand years. 7 days of the literal creation is a foreshadow of the spiritual creation... God worked 6 literal days and on the 7th day he rested. God has been working on the spiritual creation for 6000 years and we are in or about to enter into the 7000th year.
Many early Church fathers held to this view of a 7000 year plan that God had laid out.

J7 do you believe in a literal Kingdom as well? Do you think there will be animal sacrifices in the 1000 year reign or how do you perceive it?

I don't really have an opinion Boga. What do you believe?

There will never be animal sacrifices though. Never!

Ever...

All I know is that Jesus suffered a lot, and then the Church has suffered and continues to suffer a lot.

Then Jesus returns as King, and the Church joins him to rule as Kings also.

Pan-millennialism, whatever pans out works for you? Sounds good to me as well. I have no formed opinion after reading all the book of Daniel with prayer and thought and earthly reign is very likely. I just do not see how you can fit animal sacrifices in there with Jesus earthly reign. Any dispies want to try explain that?

I saw your fathers as the firstripe (early figs) in THE FIG tree... If the fathers were fruit from the fig tree, what was the fig tree?

Hosea 9:10 KJV
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
My friend God was speaking metaphorically Like grapes....as firstripe It was a comparison. Basically He was saying that it was refreshing, pleasant to see their fathers...He was not saying they were figs.

If Jesus was just cursing the fig tree for the heck of it and it didn't tie into Israel then maybe you can explain these verses. Jesus cursed the fig tree and PRESENTLY it whithered. THEN when the disciples saw the withered fig tree, they asked Jesus "How soon is the fig tree withered away". If the fig tree was already whithered when the disciples saw it, why were they asking Jesus when would the fig tree would be whithered away?

Matthew 21:19-20 KJV
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
[20] And when the disciples saw it , they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
You are a KHV man. I like that. You must realize then that the English in the KJV is colloquial. old fashioned. That's where it helps to have other versions too. Look....My bible puts it this way.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]Spotting a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. So he said to it, “May you never again bear fruit!” and immediately the fig tree dried up. [SUP]20 [/SUP]The talmidim saw this and were amazed. “How did the fig tree dry up so quickly?” they asked.

hey marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
“How did the fig tree dry up so quickly?” they asked.

See the verse is the same one but look at it in my version...See how much clearer it is?

So, 124 pages into this debate, I'm curious if a single person has been swayed or convinced by another's opposing argument.

?

Of course not. If anything, discussing things with people who hold different viewpoints only serves to make people more committed to what they already believe.

IMO, it is extremely rare for anyone to change their belief on anything based on discussions on an internet forum.

How do you know that it's metaphorical rather than symbolic? Is the lamb of God metaphorical or symbolic.:)

You know that I'm a word weaver....I know what a metaphor is....All metaphors use the words 'like' or 'as' The Holy Spirit on Pentecost....Was He a rushing mighty wind? Or did he come like a rushing mighty wind? A big wind would have caused an uproar, damage etc....When He came in, it sounded like a big wind....A metaphor.
