Looking at the mood of the conversation environment testosterone levels on the rise, almost sounds like dissension in the ranks huh?

Matthew 22 24 A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.

JESUS only wanted calm the situation before it escalated.

Matthew 22 [SUP]25 [/SUP]Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. [SUP]26 [/SUP]But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.

Now I have been in a lot of situations and always when I am neck deep in pig slop who shows up? Matthew 22 31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.

Sifting someone back then is to take them and shake them violently to remove the wheat not like now with combines and such imagine your Faith shaken like that!!!! So in order to help them find center he reminded them of who they were in him, with him.

[SUP]Matthew 22 35 [/SUP]Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything? “Nothing,” they answered.

Keep in mind they are focusing on worldly because Satan has begun his sifting process and each of them are prepared to self-destruct as Peter said!!!!

[SUP]Matthew 22 33 [/SUP]But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.”

Jesus understands that their thinking is not on him anymore but on the world, it is that reason that he gave them the notion of the world in which they sought!!!

[SUP]Matthew 2236 [/SUP]He said to them, “But now if you have a purse take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

[SUP]Matthew 22 49 [/SUP]When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” [SUP]50 [/SUP]And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
[SUP]51 [/SUP]But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.

James 3:9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; 10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.

This is a Christian site. Why are they promoting the koran?
Do you genuinely not understand the context in which I put Quranic verses supporting violence or are you playing ignorant to attempt to shift the crowd against me?

If it is the latter, there is no point since the crowd is already at that point. And if it is the latter, then dishonesty and misrepresentation is not very Christ-like.

Ah seems I scrolled through too quickly. Thanks for explaining.

Yeh alright man.......keep using your quran vs the holy bible to fit your argument.

People like you is what makes Christian's look like they are using scripture to manipulate someone into thinking they are doing or saying something wrong.

Again, I challenge you to find a New Testament verse that says what the Quran says. You won't find any such NT verse. That is his point. Unless you want to prove us wrong and show us verse in the New Testament that sanctions violence, your belief actually lines up with the Quran and not the Holy Scriptures.

I'm going to take a pause from the pacifism discussion to address cursing. Christians are not supposed to do it. I'm not judging you. I struggled with it myself for an amount of time.

Please do not stain your lips with foul words whether in real life or on the internet. This is just bad for our souls. It does not befit our calling from Jesus Christ to build up such hate in our hearts that it overflows into vulgar (or words of cursing) words on our tongues.

The Bible says we will give an account of even every idle word that we speak. That's even the stuff we kind of off-handedly say. I think we all could use a reminder of this and not just you. But all of us.

I think this is the straw. I love you ella and I so enjoy your posts. God bless you all. This thread has made me unsettled and I pray that it comes to a peaceful ending. Blessed be the name of our Lord.

Around and around we go..........

You said yourself that you would use Aikido to defend yourself. I never said go shoot someone in the head or BEHEAD someone!
So......again.... do not make out as if what I mentioned was in anyway similar to what the Quran teaches.

From what I have read in the NT, there has not been any words mentioned that it is okay to intentionally murder someone.
Although if you also read, there is no where specifically mentioned that it is not okay to DEFEND yourself.

This is one of the reasons why I left TOL (Theology Online); It was actually allowed for you to call people some really really bad and insulting words there (Which was unacceptable and un-Christ-like). That is why I like CC (Christian Chat). Such behavior would not be tolerated here. For I was called some pretty ugly things to a point where I was forced to put 8 people on my Ignore List. I also told them they were on Ignore, but they still replied to me and insulted me anyways. It is good to finally be amongst Christians who do in fact love you and want to be nice towards you (Even despite our debates over Scripture).

In any event, I say this because I never want anyone here to hate. Either with their words or with their actions. Jesus commanded us to love. To love God and to love each other. That is why we are here. To love. For God is love.

Amen to that. We are here on earth to demonstrate the love of Christ.

Why is the Quran even being mentioned here? The Quran has nothing to do with what the bible says.. This thread sounds like a record stuck on repeat..lol..

I cannot believe that some of you cannot understand that defending yourself or someone else does NOT always mean having to use deadly force!! There are a dozen different ways to protect yourself, and none of them involve the use of guns. Get yourself some pepper spray and/or a stun gun. Both are legal to carry on you (in some states, anyway). Those are both effective deterrents designed to immobilize someone, howbeit temporarily. And to re-iterate what ella85 and I both spoke about in previous posts: a good well-placed kick in the leg or genitals is effective also!! I know this for a fact, because I've done it before to an ex-bf to get away from him--it took him right to the floor!! LOL. :)

You said we should kick men in the privates and or to hurt one of their legs. I am not about hurting anyone. That would be violent. Aikido does not take any aggressive action like that. It uses their own momentum against themselves. But I would not encourage anyone to learn it because most martial arts have a spiritual aspect to it that is not Biblical and martial arts can still lead one to hurt the other person if they are not careful. If a Christian already knows Aikido, and they don't seek to hurt another in their defense of helping somebody else, then I believe God would not have a problem with such a thing because no violent or aggressive action is being taken.

From what I have read in the NT, there has not been any words mentioned that it is okay to intentionally murder someone. Although if you also read, there is no where specifically mentioned that it is not okay to DEFEND yourself.
Lethal Self defense is a form of revenge (Which the OT, not the NT sanctions). It is attacking them before they can attack you or retaliating or responding in like kind (i.e. if they hit you the cheek, then you hit them on the cheek, too).
