Your right to life is precisely that
YOUR RIGHT.
Not another man's nor the govt's to regulate.
While many Americans incorrectly assume the federal government sits at the top of the power pyramid, it actually belongs on the bottom. Under our constitutional system, “we the people” hold the top position of authority.
The states under them and the federal government only supreme within the limited scope of the explicit powers delegate to it.....By The People.
In the United States the People are the authority over the Govt.
The people are the rulers here Jason.
I hope that does help you understand who the authority is now.
It would be beneficial for you to not give away the authority God gas granted you.

You are welcome to exercise your right to life as you see fit.

I have addressed one of the reasons why Jesus did not retaliate in post #779 third paragraph up from the bottom.
Although we know Jesus is saving his retaliation for the proper apportioned time.

I do know this.
Do you not know that at one point Jesus instructed his Apostles that if any did not have a sword to go out and buy one.

Swords were the weapon of the day,.

Today that would be like Jesus saying:
---If any does not have a firearm, sell his garment and go out and buy one.
Well Lord, we have a rifle and this here 45 auto.
---That is enough.

was it just for show? just for intimidation? part of their Apostle's garb?
Would Jesus in this example instruct his Apostles to gird themselves with a weapon for no reason?
All attacks were directed toward Jesus at that time.
Jesus would be leaving them soon and would not be there with them.
Is it possible Jesus knew that once he had ascended to the father that the Romans would then focus their sights on the Apostles next.

Jesus disciples carried weapons when they were traveling with him from town to town including when he was taken under wrongful arrest.
2 of which open carried the whole time while traveling with Christ.
this is approximately a 1:5 ratio.

When Jesus was arrested and Peter cut off the soldiers ear Jesus told Peter to put his sword
~BACK IN ITS PLACE, as opposed to discarding it entirely.

What Jesus was effectively saying at that particular time was:
Even though the soldiers are in the wrong I am submitting to this unlawful arrest without resistance.
Even though they had weapons and Jesus made it clear he didn't even need a weapon he could call upon 12 legions of angels to be at his immediate disposal
Why then did he not call upon the angels ?
He made it clear before hand
A: He had a cup to drink of.
He had to fulfill the purpose of taking the punishment WE DESERVED.
Those were unbelieving agents of wrath.
what is better a God abiding agent of wrath who discerns properly
or ones like who persecuted Jesus?
The agents of wrath are there as ministers of God for good
How may they be ministers of Good if they persecute the innocent.
Who are present Not to address good behavior since good behavior need no addressing
but to address bad behavior.
For what purpose?
To bring punishment upon the wrongdoer

Were the ones persecuting Christ acting justly?
No.

They were crucifying the wrong man, an innocent man.
Romans 13 makes it clear on the other hand that there are those appointed by God to rightfully address the behavior of those who actually need it.

Who are the ones perpetrating bad behavior being oppressors now?
Who are the actual sovereign rulers and authorities in the USA appointed by God Jason?

There may come a time where you will need to sell your garment and buy a weapon.
Will you ignore Jesus' example then?

The majority of the time when Jesus spoke, his disciples, and everyone around him mistaken Jesus to be speaking about physical things when in reality he was speaking about spiritual things. In fact, Jesus rebuked Peter and he did not praise him. He said,

He that lives by the sword, dies by the sword.

Jesus did not say,

He that lives by the sword, is exectuing justice or wrath.

Jesus was not impartial to it. He was saying it leads to death. Jesus conquered death. And death and Hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire. The last enemy to be destroyed will be death.

They didn't actually go out and buy a sword as He instructed. The 12 showed Jesus that they had 2 swords. Jesus said that was enough. Now, how can all twelve disciples fight (with them each having their own sword) if they only have 2 swords? You can't do it. The point is that it was enough because Jesus could have called a ton of angels down if he needed protection. That is what he told Peter. Imagine, Jesus yelling at you for chopping somebody's ear off. Imagine him rebuking you. Put yourself in Peter's shoes and think what Jesus was saying to him. It wasn't postive but it was negative.

So is not knowing the truth of God's Word not important to you? That is why we are discussing the Word of God. Mocking the discussion of the truth of God's Word is not only inappropriate but it is anti-Christian. Please stop the mocking or contribute to the topic at hand within this thread (Preferrably with Scripture).

Jason, I feel as though I could get a better conversation out of talking to a brick wall.

I asked my wife if, before we were married, she knew that I was a pacifist and wouldn't protect her from a rapist with any means possible, would she still marry me...and she said no, because God wants husband's to love their wives more than rapists. So if you're a pacifist and engaged to be married, ask questions before paying the caterer.

I didn't say I wouldn't protect them. I just would not employ any lethal means to stop them.

I really can't peg it down to a specific time. But it was some time after I renewed my faith in 2010 when I began to dig deep into studying the Word of God. I voiced my opinions on the topic vocally online for the first time in 2013. It is at this time, that I did even more study.

Live your convictions bro. Just make sure that if you ever plan to marry, let the girl know there is a point you won't cross to protect her against an attacker. My wife knows I have no bounds.
